  1. no it is fine - those are the recommended so assume the car is set up to be comfortable at these pressures As another update - I drove from Bracknell to Bristol and back at outside lane speeds and got 30.5 mpg
  2. Had a 56 350 S-EL and it was great. Only problems I had were : - squeaky glovebox - bit of rust on wiper arms - musty aircon all fixed
  3. Big luxury car eh? At the moment I am wafting around in a 2006 BMW730LDSE, thats the long wheelbase version with all the bells and whistles, not my choice but I have the dubious task of selling it for a friend who has just emigrated to Oz.....this beast is giving 37.2mpg on my daily commute which is a mix of A & B roads in and out of towns. Not too shabby I thought! Where as my own RX300 returns around 23mpg on the same route.......maybe next time around I will go for a BMX X5 or X3 diesel yeah but the downside of that is you would become a BMW Driver with all the baggage that carries!!
  4. Remember you are only benefiting from a hybrid car when you are driving under 40 mph, so if you do a lot of motorway driving you are just running a heavy 3.5 ltr V6 petrol engine. If you drove round London all week you will probably get better mpg than driving on a motorway. I filled up at Heston (m4) and drove into Southbank in London and got 35.1 mpg so it is possible
  5. Remember you are only benefiting from a hybrid car when you are driving under 40 mph, so if you do a lot of motorway driving you are just running a heavy 3.5 ltr V6 petrol engine. If you drove round London all week you will probably get better mpg than driving on a motorway. I do lots of motorway miles and am averaging about 31mpg so 26 seems quite low. Some suggestions : 1) my dad borrowed mine and didn't drive to optimise the hybrid - got 27mpg. Once I told him that he should keep needle in the eco range he got about 35 mpg. Once I changed my driving style the mpg rose 2) tyre pressures - mine are are 38 front and 42 back 3) sticking brake caliper? 4) using ECO mode?
  6. Never owned a 400 but did have 350 so here is my 2p worth compared to 350 and 400h which I did however drive several times. +ves for 450h economy - I am getting between 30 and 37 mpg depending on route without concentrating IPOD connection as standard also Hard Drive nav (quick) and ability to burn CDs to Hard Drive in dash. higher quality materials in cabin LED headlamps - really bright! some 400s had problems with battery flattening - solved on 450h Air suspension more modern look doesn't have the mad torque steer that 400h has under hard acceleration keyless entry bigger boot parking sensors laminated windows/double glazing quieter in cabin heated and chilled seats DAB radio ML stereo is even better than the 400h - which in itself is a cracker. controls aren't speed locked - i.e you can change nav destination on the move. 3 position seat memory for both front seats. more airbags -ves 400h is better price/value at moment no sunroof as standard in SE-L 450h no rear DVD/ICE system as standard no captains chairs in front any more power socket/usb socket buried in bottom of central storage bin and hard to fiddle with alloys are easier to kerb than 350/400 19" wheels have more expensive tyres a few squeaks and rattles (now fixed) - mine was an 09 model. Overall - love the car
  7. Hi I ran RX 350 SE-L on 56 plate for 3 years and 50K miles. Only problems in that time were a squeaky glove box and rusty wiper arm - both fixed. I added the Lexus IPOD kit to it. It was a great car. The ML stereo was great. Economy - short journeys about 18mp and steady motorway at 70 was about 27 if I recall. gets about 290 miles on a tank. Air suspension - never had an issue but covered by extended warranty. also handy for lowering or raising the car. 4wd system - not sophisticated but coped with all muddy roads/ice/snow I threw at it. Performance - surprisingly quick but still quiet. much quicker than 300 Costs - tyres lasted me about 18K and were £600 for all 4 Servicing was about £200 on average per service If you don't do many ,iles and/or can afford the fuel - you will love the 350. PM me if you have any other questions
  8. I have same problem on Iphone 3 - be keen to see if your dealer can fix it.
  9. legacy technology that HTC, Samsung and Nokia seem to have no problems with......
  10. It's a problem with Iphone Bluetooth software.... I have a similar problem in that it connects then randomly disconnects for 5 seconds during calls. Also in OS 4.2 update you can no longer dial numbers connected by BT less than 4 digits - ie you can't get access to 121 voicemail!!! Iphone - great device but crappy phone!
  11. ah ha!!!!! you mentioned a rattle from the centre of dash? Purely by coincidence this is where the DAB receiver sits - I had similar rattle and it was the DAB receiver has slipped from the rubber cradle it sits in. Could be a good place to start to make sure the connections are solid - maybe that is causing the poor reception?
  12. 22k miles done. Tyres front at 38PSI and rears at 42 PSI ECO mode engaged Bracknell to Leicester and back via M25 and M1 on super plus petrol = 35.9 mpg
  13. Best guesses are : Glove box connections Pollen Filter - sits behind glovebox
  14. I have 2009 Rx 450 with DAB. Initially when I got the car the DAB was great but I have since had the windscreen replaced and when it came back the reception was awful. It turns out this was the problem so this may help you. The DAB aerial is very position sensitive. When my windscreen was replaced I noticed the black receiver was not sitting square on windscreen. I pulled it away and with a view to refitting. The box actually has a small "window" in it which lines up with the top of the two metal strips that run down the screen. I cleaned off excess glue and lined the window more closely with the strips and hey presto! much better reception. Still drops out in deep dips in roads but otherwise fine. A Way to check if you have same problem is to ask a passenger to press the box against the screen when you experience poor reception. If it improves then this fix will cure it.
  15. Well my RX is coming up to 20K miles and just noticed another chip/crack. This will be 3rd time I will need windscreen replaced!!! Anyone else suffering or is it just me?
  16. I think when the car thinks you are accelerating too much/ pressing pedal too hard it will switch out of ev MODE.
  17. May only be psychological but once in a while I find the air suspension gets a bit harsh - I run it through a hi, mid, lo, access cycle and it seems to smooth out. Strange?!
  18. Just a comment regarding IPOD connectivity. I had similar connection issues when I got my RX. It appeared to be 2 things : 1) even though my IPOD was listed as supported it was a very early version of the supported type. The connection seemed to be random. Swapped to a newer version and problem solved 2) However even with new IPOD occasionally the connection disappears. Cable is secure, IPOD says connected etc. Turns out thi is solved by resetting the IPOD. It would appear that after many days of continuous use it just seems to freeze. Hope this helps.
  19. my 2p worth.... IMHO it is always a "risk" buying a new year model of car. My Rx450h (which I now love to bits) was delivered with multiple trim rattles. Very disappointing - but now fixed I am glad to say and the customer service seems to be still spot on. In my experience (having driven BMW, Mercedes, VW and Lexus) I think that trim quality has declined slightly as Toyota desperately chased the #1 car company position. Mechanically I still think they are bombproof but trim issues combined with (like many foreign manufacturers) not testing cars on the UK's "unique" road surfaces ads to the problem. I have had far more mechanical issues with other luxury marques than Lexus. I believe that Lexus cars are still at the top of the pile and especially after the recent problems the focus on quality will be paramount.
  20. Had mine done during service - they had my car for about 4 hours.
  21. Let's be realistic here - just like many cars nowadays Lexus are tuned to do well in the mpg and CO2 tests for taxation reasons. I never expected my 450 to come anywhere close to the 44.8 stated. My view - I drive a 2 tonne luxury petrol powered SUV which can shift if need be and still get over 30 mpg without trying. The glass is half full IMHO.
  22. Hi. I asked same question and was told that a second set could be fitted but as the model was so new they weren't sure how difficult it would be to wire into the loom. I decided to just stick with the two and they are quite a wide spread so pretty good. I had four on my RX450 but the loss of rwo isn't a big issue.
  23. Mine is coming up to 10,000 miles and is averaging between 28/29 to 36 mpg. One thing I did notice is that it is very sensitive to tyre pressures. My tyres were set at 36 all round. I checked the recommended and they are actually meant to be 42 rear and 38 front. having changed to these the mpg went up by 1-1.5!!
  24. Not a problem - just reality. The official figures are based on tests which are totally unrealistic compared to real world driving. Just enjoy the fact you have 2 tonne luxury SUV that does 33mpg!
  25. no discounts is a load of tosh. I got 2K off a brand new model from the first batch into the country. 5% + freebies should be easy. If not try another dealer. Good luck!
