hi all i was lucky after cleaning out and drying with air line and leaving in warm room over night refitted the amp and it works fine thanks for the replies all i need now is a cd changer to replace the one missing from car when i bought it regards andy.

hi think i have found the problem with mine i had a can of antifreeze in the boot that leaked on to the amp have removed the amp used switch cleaner and now waiting for it to dry out will let you know the outcome, fingers crossed i dont want to have to replace the ic's. thanks for the replies andy ps antifreeze was for the wifes car :yack:

hi is the engine using oil or is the smoke coming from the exhaust from when the head gasket was gone, it does take a little while to clear old oil/water from the exhaust after any kind of head job regards andy

with regard to the mot tester getting it wrong, if the wear in the ball joints was bad it can sometimes give the impression that some of the wear is in the rack. when testing a steering rack a small amount of play is not an mot fail as an mot examiner ( 20+ years and a mechanic 30+ years ) if anyone has any questions regarding the mot test i would be happy to try and answer them as per the mot bible. regards andy

hi all as per the tread about cheap source of recon steering racks, i am an mot inspector i have use bristol power steering i have found the results from them are as good as new. when a power steering rack is checked for wear in must be done with both front wheels raised clear of the ground and with the engine running, hold the wheel at 3 and 9 and rock the wheel any play will be evident. while u are there if you hold the wheel at 11 and 5 you can check the ball joint. i hope this is of some help to everyone. remember a small amount os play in the steering rack is not a reason for failer on an mot or anything to worry about. regards andy.

try going to ur local garage they can service ur car to manufactures spec most garages have auto data which gives a print out as per manufactures service schedu, parts inc brake pads are avalible from most good motor factors eg partco (part of the unipart group) i work for a small local garage and we pride ourselves on doing a good job as do many small garages. regards andy

what about a chrome 1 there have been loads on e bay for mk1 they are £18 /£20 plus p&p sounds awfull cheap regards andy

try the power steering center bristol the should be able to recon your rack if they do not have any stock. regards, andy.

hi mine is the same colour as yours its called antigan pearl i think mine has chrome alloys and has done 77k and is in lovely condition cannot fault it, apart from missing the cd changer (anyone got one for sale ?) regards andy.

hi can any one help, i have just picked up my new car a 1994 mk 1 gs300 and the shuttle is missing, has any one any idea where i can find a replacement ? or one that would be conpatible. i cannot work out what make the head unit is again any ideas, as this might help in finding something that will work with it. regards Andy.
