  1. Thanks for the welcome. I guess you're keeping an eye on E-Bay as there's an increasing no of LS430's there. One today, with 65k miles, went for (around) £18k. I bought mine from e-bay at ,72k, and it's the best car I've ever had unless you want to park it in a small place (parking sensors are very desirable). Best of luck finding one!
  2. Only the later ones have phone/bluetooth but I did install a (fixed) phone in the LS430, got it off of e-bay- a motorola- I think the only ones making fixed phones now. Had some problems getting the unlock code but found someone on the internet, fitted an internal aerial, a stick on thing up the side of the screen, and wired it in fairly easily -theres plenty of room alongside the transmission tunnel and behind the footwell carpet. fortunately, there'd been a fixed phone before so the power, taken from the footwell fuse box, passenger side just in front of the door hinge, behind the panel was easy to connect. Bolted the speaker box to this panel and to avoid unsightly holes bought a customised clip on colour coded panel which affixes to the left of the transmission tunnel. All in, fitting it myself, around £150 but you have to supply your own sim card. The great thing is that the control unit has a "permanent" sim which you insert -any sim card- under the carpet, but you can also insert a temporary sim card in the handset from your own mobile. If there's no temporary sim card fitted it defaults to the fixed one. It's only fixed because you'd need to hoik up the carpet to change it. By the way it's all handsfree, with a mike cable hidden behind the screen rubber and on a t-mobile card it seems to work everywhere I've been, even in areas challenging for a mobile Even though I say so myself- and i'm no phone engineer- it's a great and easy installation even if I did fear doing it!
  3. Had the same problem with mine (2001 ls430). MY local dealer (Tunbridge Wells) ordered and posted it to me. It cost about £12. Arrived within a week
  4. Had the same problem with my 430 (at 80k miles). Yellow engine light.Car running fine but seemed to use a bit more fuel Took it to the dealer and it reported 4 fault codes. Isolated to the oxygen sensor (one of I believe 5) in the manifold. £50+ for the diagnostics refunded against it being changed. Now completed but the £300+ job (before deducting the diagnostic charge) increased rapidly as they couldn't get the old one out. Spent hours trying and eventually replaced the manifold too adding over £400 to the bill. Fortunately managed to do it without taking engine out (apparently the right way to do it) and let me off about 6 hours labour -at £97.50ph. Even so at over £700, I hope the other sensors last. The fuel consumption has improved (I reckon it had lost me about 5mpg) so as fuel keeps rising eventually it'll pay for itself It's the first fault in my 7k miles
  5. I haven't been lucky with tyres, a succession of punctures in the same wheel (no common cause). I do know that because the car is so quiet if you get a puncture, you'll never know it until the tyre walls are completely knackered. When I first tried to jack the car the end sheared off the puny jack. It's not an easy car for an owner wheel change! There's no such thing as a puncture repair on this car unless you notice it from the outside. I've replaced with SP270 until last time when I changed to SP2020, I believe a later version. I didn't want to compromise noise levels so stuck to the recommendation. They are about £150 though and it may be bad luck, but they haven't lasted to wear out
  6. Sorry you're not getting the LS. To add to the posts my 2001 does not have parking sensors, although , I believe retrospectively sensors were fitted to the rear. There is no visual display, just a beep. They're well fitted and colour coded . There are no front ones. On mpg, light footed I get over 30, about 31/32. Mixed driving mid 20's and around the hills of Hastings 13/14- 3 mile journeys each time but averaged over 10 journeys of just this type. Never belive what you read in the govnm. figures which are artificial conditions. Real life average will always be nearer the urban figure quoted
