  1. i was with tesco last year then they did what all the others seem to do, give you an astranomical renewal quote. i switched to elephant.co.uk and saved £130.00
  2. couldn`t agree more, ive seen many accidents over the years and the difference the airbag has made is unreal. mind you for those who have seen the film Final Destination 2 you may disagree the lexus wheel is one of the most comfortable ive used anyway, so i would leave well alone if i was you. but thats just my opinion !
  3. Are you telling me theres a black box in my Police car !! no one told me, i must have been off that day i better watch myself from now on :D
  4. my question is why are you doing it, is it to save money on your policy or what, If its to try and cheat the system and obtain insurance illegally then if you get found out you could be committing a criminal offence of obtaining a pecuniary advantage and the insurance company will not be best pleased. but you need to give more details first. Watch out for the sting in the tail though. If you register the car in your girlfriends name and you split up then you may be minus your nice shiny lexus coz she ill have documental proof of ownership.
  5. the one i was looking at had the tft screen at 2.5" about credit card size or a touch larger it was 79.00 on buy it now option. and it was imported direct from hong kong i think ive just thought though what do i do when its dark, i mean its not gonna work that well is it !! i think im slowly talking myself into the sensor option more practical in the long term. there are loads on ebay but im unsure of the quality of most, they seem too cheap if you know what i mean. i was gonna get some veba or quanans coz ive heard they are good but when you see some of the others at less than half their price it confuses me ( which doesnt take much ).
  6. another question for anyone who can help im thinking of getting either reversing sensors or a camera/ display model. theres a camera and display on ebay does anyone know if there any good and are they easy to fit to my lexus is 200 the one i was looking at was a reversing camera plus a TFT LCD display on ebay for around £80.00 i need help coz i dont have a clue about fitting screens etc in cars. thanks
  7. Come on lets be honest hear, yes its true that as car drivers we dont use our mirrors enough and we are often more proccupied with other things than the actual driving aspect, but i live in the national park of north yorkshire and i use the moor roads every day and during the summer it becomes a race track for bikers who show no consideration to other motorists and ride at speeds well in excess of the speed limit. Their are numerous blind junctions and junctions at the top of crests that are difficult to pull out of at the best of times but when the bikers are approaching at over 80mph it makes it a lottery. And unfortunately its a risk that they take which has led to so many of them being killed over the last few years. The way they overtake between oncoming cars causing a third lane in the centre of the road at break neck speed is so dangerous its untrue. And during the summer just gone I counted a total of 26 bikes overtaking on solid white lines on my way home one afternoon. Some car drivers are not much better i agree, but when you have got someone in control of such a powerful machine that is capable of incredible acceleration there is always going to be conflict and its usually the bikes that come off worst. Lets be honest the faster and more powerful your vehicle is the more you overtake its just human nature whether we like it or not speed does kill ive been to numerous fatal accidents in my line of work and cant think of more than 2 or 3 that were not caused by excessive speed by one of the vehicles involved. To be balanced though I have to say that i have seen bikers killed when people have pulled out of junctions right in front of them and no fault of the biker at all. The depressing thing about that is that if the biker had been in a car it would have led to nothing more than a slight accident. we all make mistakes i just hope that when i make mine im driving my lexus at the time and not my bike !!!
  8. I found a real burlwood dash kit on one of the sites in the us, it had not only the door mirror pieces but also a long piece to cover some of the cream plastic door card. it also had a full glovebox piece full air vents and rear ashtray pieces. all in all it was about 34 pieces. looked great value at around $250 delivered to my mums in florida, but if it doesnt fit the uk model like colin said i wont bother. looks like ill have to get some parking sensors and some toms eyelids instead.
  9. thanks for the advice. saved me a major ***** up trying to install an american dash kit in my car. the only problem with the ones in the uk they dont have the glovebox kit or the door panels like the american ones. ill keep looking thanks
  10. me too, i love my is200 se but i will be upgrading to an is300 or gs300 next time. mind you mines only done 6700 miles so next time will be in about 10 years and im excited already
  11. thanks a lot ill await a reply. does anyone know if its feasable to use the wood dash kits that are made for the is300 on my is200, i have found loads of good ones on american sites and they look identical other than the auto box part ( mines a manual ) . also it shouldnt matter about left and right hand drive should it, dont you just swap the kit around. my folks live in the usa so i could get one easy enough, but im just not sure if the is200 and 300 are the same interior parts. can anyone shed any lightthanks chris
  12. yeah ive seen them on ebay but like a lot of things on ebay im unsure of the quality. ill have another look see if i can find any better pics or links
  13. where did she get it from and how much was it roughly ? thanks
  14. hi there, has anyone ever fitted a wood dash kit to their is200 or know of anyone that has. i was considering fitting one but i wondered what they looked like fitted ( any pics would be appreciated ) also are they any good ? ive seen one or two around on the net but you cant get a good idea just by looking at the screen. anyone with any ideas feel free to pass them on, coz i dont want to get one just to find out that they are crap and a waste of money. cheers
  15. you need to draw fresh air from the outside to prevent the build up of moisture inside the car caused by breathing. ensure your controls are set so the air recirculation is off and after a while the moisture in the car will disappear leaving you with a fog free windscreen. just a thought but check your boot because carrying wet stuff like golf clubs and football kit is a killer which i am guilty of every weekend.
  16. I always use my remote fob to open the doors whilst i am still in the kitchen then walk round to my car parked outback, only to find that if im not quick enough it relocks itself. This happens about 5 times a week, you would think I would have learnt by now by what the hell i just walk faster. LOL on the is200 se it relocks after 20 secs if no doors are opened, but only if the remote is used.
  17. I got them off this site, but i cant remember where im sure someone on this forum will have a better memory than me and can sort you out with some.
  18. I did mine using silver engine paint and they looked great until i laquered them and it ran all over the stickers. however i simply applied the laquer to a cloth and rubbed it over the stickers which got rid of it all again ( PHEW ) i dont rate the laquer at all and i steer well clear of it.
  19. dont feel silly, I know from a very good source that one of the managers of a lexus dealer complained to the mechanics about the same problem after having his lexus for 3 weeks and not being able to open the boot remotely
  20. RAVSTAR, ive had my lexus for 8 months now and i noticed the same cluunking noise in the lower gears when i first drove it. You will find that it goes away the more you get used to driving the car and you will adapt accordingly. you just need to get on the clutch a tiny bit earlier before changing gear and it all becomes nice and quietly smooth!!!!!!!!! oh and dont change gear in the lower gears until 2500-3000revs this helps also. cheers
  21. Hi, Im new to the Lexus brotherhood having swapped my 3 month old vw golf 2.8 v6 4 motion back in March this year. Its a long story but basically I owned the golf from new for 16 weeks and it spent 13 of them back in the dealership with various problems. they did ive me a Polo 1.2 hire car which was nice !!!!!!!!!!! ( i pointed out to them that i could have saved 10 grand and bought the polo to start with) Anyhow enough moaning about vw, now ive got me a IS 200 SE and apart from the difference in performance from the golf its a class above the golf. But my question tonite is im gonna fit some drill flush parking sensors but i want to know how the audible beeping sensors work with the manual reverse which beeps anyway. Will it just sound like a whole load of beeps that will drive me mad or can the manual reverse beeps be disabled so i only hear the sensor system any suggestions most welcome thanks
