  1. OK i know what they are & what it does(supposedly anyway since i never bought it before). But is 'universal' ones good idea? like the one shown on this link here:grounding kit Its not desgined for the Altezza/is200 would univeersal ones have a chance of not fitting due to some wires being too short or anything? I found a company does universal grounding kits(not Ebay) for £30 in uk thats cheap considering ones made to fit Altezza/is200 like Apexi or HKS costs £100+ exc.p&p.. TRD or Ralliart(mitsubishi only)ones retail for about £220! nontheless i think there expensive for some wires, for me its not really that expensive/hard to get these materials/wires & cutting them yourself(bit of DIY) as i studied Engineering in my earlier yrs at college anyway.
  2. i know few yrs ago(not sure of now) a Hong Kong resident can get a UK licence in Uk & when they go back to Hong Kong they can get a hong Kong driving licence without taking a nother driving test in hong Kong but still have a uk driving licence, not sure if it can be done the other way round, dont think Hong Kong government accept a US driving licence tho, probably due to amount of car accidents in america & fact that it is very easy to pass your driving test there, did i say u can easily bribe the examiner with some money??!!
  3. Yeah there is another way for cheaper car insuarance........ Find a cheaper car a Honda Civic or a corolla, im sorry but at 19 thats very young imo to own a is200 & being a student, you gonna be working as well? When i was 19 i owned a mazda 323 & then bought a Civic ESi auto, i & my friends thought that was impressive for my age back then & did i say insuring it was quite expensive back then even for a honda civic? im 23 now btw & would never pay more than £2k for insurance for any cars. I do know a student came to uK from HK few yrs back, his dad bought him a JDM celica VVTLi when he was 19, dunno how much he paid for insurance but not cheap, now few yrs gone by now 24 y/o he wants his dad to buy him a 350Z cos he got bored of the Celica! You can always move to NZ or australia, there are lots of students form other countries there! some people there with Altezza or well known JDM sports cars are VERY young & still at college so insurance & japanese cars there must be cheaper than in UK.
  4. Got a new head unit waiting to be fitted so Where can i get a fascia plate from? I know Toyota makes one here is a pic on someones Altezza: I believe this is a Toyota part. So can i buy from any toyota/lexus car dealer? I think this looks better than the Autolead version. So preferably a Toyota one i want if not then Autolead it is. Thanks.
  5. I not been looking at this blokes website yet but is it a garage or tyre place & can 'any' good garages do this geometry set up? as Watford is bit out of my way. Anyway from experience & LOTS of different reviews & LOTS of people saying tyres wearing out faster can also be caused by just changing the springs when getting the car lowered even though those springs are designed for that specfic car. being that wheels squat out further when is not meant to or something. Thats why is best to change the shocks for matching ones as well or go for coil overs....
  6. there is only 1 round my area that is not even that big, its a tyre & wheel refurbishing dealer that also sells exhaust/lower springs & alloy wheels. by looks of it they dont stock lexus wheels there.
  7. I need to get the factory 17inch wheels refurbished after new yr due to them corroding so what other wheels fits an IS200/300? i notice the front callipers are very CLOSE to the spokes of the alloy wheel on both sides at the front! one wheel refurbishing dealer cant loan any spare wheeels to me as he said himself the front callipers care very close to the spokes of the alloy wheel. he said something about not being the offset more to do with the callipers very close to the wheels at the front. its any Altezza by the way so no warrenty on these wheels
  8. i notice another Altezza 6speed mt with suspension looking slightly lower about 10+mm by guessing.whereas mine seems bit higher & mines a auto tiptronic. i heard someone saying Altezza RS200 has 10/15mm lower suspension than the uk spec is200 anyway with exception of sport that is 10/15mm lower anyway. So does the Altezza Rs200 got different suspension depending if is an auto tiptronic or a 6sp manual? if YES then is the 10/15mm lower springs a striaght swap possible without causing probs with the shocks & fits correctly?
  9. im very sure i heard of some Altezza automatic that still got Torsion LSD??? i could be wrong.
  10. Am i right there is no Automatic gearshift for the IS200 Sport? even though the performance is same as the other IS200 rather than higher performance/different engine. i was told few yrs ago at the London earls court motorshow on the Lexus stand that there was a Auto option for the IS200 Sport, back in 2000 i think. & did someone say u get them as Automatic in Europe, germany?
  11. I had fitted to my old 1992 EG5 Civic 1.6 ESi a Remus backbox for few yrs & had no probs with it, the car felt bit more responsive & now car sold i occasionaly see the car round town, exhaust still looks fine. as for no performance gains, what exhaust does?increase bhp on aftermarket exhausts is overrated anyway.tehy all say increase in bhp.
  12. i use to buy max power occasionnaly but refuse to, there crap & as im asian & a comment/caption they printed in a issue few yrs ago that i found being racism, not sure if the idea is meant to be funny but i didint think so infact i was offended more than anything else. there is more pictures of women in maxpower than FHM/Maxim thats the only reason why it sells is the women featured in the mag, if i wanted to perve on it i would of bought playboy or anything else on the top shelf!
  13. i notice on some pics some IS200 side indicators dont have the orange effect inside it & the lense look like crystal clear type? are these fitted to the later spec is200/300? i also found this on ebay: here would these fit is200?
  14. thanks for help guys...cleard few things up. as for not letting me in 2nd gear till it warmed up, dont know never tried. i only ever switch to the tiptronic after being in auto mode i.e. decide to use it when at traffic lights only as i had the impression wait till the car warmed up before using the tiptronic mode just like the tipronic gearbox on the 1997-current mitsubishi galant.
  15. i got a altezza rs200 tiptronic auto. how do you use the tiiptronic mode? as soon as i stick it to tiptronic mode the dash reads '4' or 'D' which i presume the highest gear? i always got the impression that you start off with the lowest gear like a conventional manual gear shift you starts in 1st gear. would i have to change down to lowest gear when i go to tiptronic mode on the altezza & the lowest gear is '2'??what happened to '1' gear? simple question to some but i never used a triptronit gearbox of any cars before, my last car was a civic 1.6 ESi vtec sedan with conventional 4spd auto.
