  1. No problem, let me know? Have to say I'm not a fan of the two tone. The paintwork on mine makes the car look a lot better. IMO! No head gasket problems which seem common on some of these. Anyway this looks like a hard sell which it isn't. As I say, it's no problem if nobody takes it as it'll just be traded and you'll have to look out for it on Frank Butcher's lot with 75,000 less miles;)
  2. OK I am aware that this may well be in breach of the forum/club rules, so mods - if this is the case, bin this straight away and accept my apologies in advance. I just thought this may be of benefit to your members. Due to a 100 mile round trip commute I am having to trade my '94 GS300 MK1 (non sport) in for a small economical car. As it has 199K on the clock, I've only been offered £1250 trade in price. Rather than trade it for that, I thought I would offer it to the Lexus community for the same figure. At least then it will go to someone who will appreciate it! Besides the mileage I'd say it's a lovely example. Clearly been well looked after, 130K of it's miles were clocked up before it was 5 years old so perhaps it has been sat on a motorway for most of its life. Recently had a service. Runs perfectly. Pearl. white, previously two-tone but the previous owner appears to have had the lower trim resprayed to match the rest of the car, looks better IMO. Also benefits from a Sport rear spoiler. Taxed until June, MOT until November. V5 present. No service history, apart from 2 Lexus dealer timing belt change stickers in the engine bay. HPI clear. Original 16" Lexus alloys all quite corroded but straight. Two new tyres on the rear. Slight rust bubbles on rear drivers side arch. Otherwise the paint is in fantastic condition, that's the only rust. All fluids the right colour. Gearbox changes perfectly and extremely smoothly. Speedo and needles light up perfectly, very bright. 12 disc CD changer, not sure if this is standard. There are also extra Pioneer 6x9 speakers and a Sony amp installed. Aircon doesn't work, personally I'd risk £50 on a regas to see if that fixes things. Email me for pictures and/or to arrange a viewing alex@phiz.biz. There really is nothing wrong with it, other than it's taste for the unleaded! ;) Many thanks for reading. If nobody is interested then I can just trade it in - but this could be a bargain for somebody - even if it ends up being broken, which would be a terrible shame.
  3. My Honda Prelude VTEC is also an automatic. Despite not being the most torquey motor, it gives neck snapping take offs very easily. When I get into the GS, it feels like I'm crawling away from junctions. I think you just need to use more throttle if you want a fast start. Also check you don't have a stuck calliper - I did! AFAIK stall speed is the amount of intentional 'slip' built into a torque converter so that an automatic does not stall when you come to a complete stop. If you were to press hard on the brakes and rev the car whilst in D the revs would not go past the stall speed of 2700.
  4. My GS300 has an botched 'upgrade' to the audio system which I would like to return to standard or at least get working better. Only the front speakers and the subwoofer are currently driven by the standard Lexus system. Setting the fader to R would indicate that only the sub is being driven on the rear set. The rear passenger door speakers and some Pioneer 6x9s (on the parcel shelf) are driven by a separate Sony amp. As the amp install is a definite bodge, I removed the fuse as it caused massive bangs through the driven speakers whenever I changed the gear selector, pressed the brakes etc. Even when working it sounded terrible. The amp is earthed to the car's body, inside the boot. Is this usually how you would ground an amp? I'm a car audio novice. Also the +12v cable which comes directly off the battery runs parallel with the audio signal cable - which I always thought was a no-no. Basically I want to remove this Sony amp, ignore the 6x9s and hook up the factory door speakers. Any idea how I would do this? Is there perhaps an amp under the standard factory CD changer? Thanks for any help
  5. I'd be happy to get 140 miles to half a tank. I only get around 220 to an almost-full tank. I only live 5 miles away from work and most of my trips are in stop start traffic. Plus I have a bit of a heavy right foot :)
  6. Mine came with no service history but I have found three Lexus stickers hidden at various locations in the engine bay listing the mileages at which the cambelt has been changed - up to 15,000 miles ago. Try on top of the cambelt cover or under the induction thing connected to the air filter housing. Sure, these probably aren't as good as a stamp in a dealer book but they are better than nothing.
  7. I always thought it was fairly quiet and refined on a long journey, seats aren't the most comfy though. As mine is an automatic VTEC (which is REALLY not as bad as a lot of people who have you believe..) it's worth next to nothing... and as it's more or less in perfect nick, I'm not going to give it away to someone for a couple of grand.
  8. A little OT but are you the Tron20 from the HondaRevolutions forum? Seem to remember you had a Prelude before the GS? And to think that Preludes are referred to as barges ;) I too have a GS300 as well as the 'lude - not a 'Sport' though, but it does have a spoiler - don't know if this was an option on 1994 models? I quite like the two-tone look on yours. A previous owner of my car looks to have had the lower panels resprayed white to match the rest of the car. It's 900 miles off 200K and the paintwork is immmaculate - so perhaps the whole car has been redone at some point. All in all, very happy with mine.
  9. Just curious about some wheels which look to be off a MK2 GS300 although I'm not sure. Will these fit a MK1 GS300? Apparently they're 17x7 5x114.3 50et What size tyre will I be looking at to maintain the correct rolling radius? Thanks for any help Pic:
  10. Well if the mileage doesn't put you off you can make me an offer for mine! I adore the car but the boot is just too small (and awkward to load) for the little one's pushchair and other 'baby stuff' :(
  11. Yup - just noticed that yours is a Mark 1, so Mudz is dead right (sorry) ← Realised this when I went out to try it. I can see the 'winter' mode in operation with the switch on the wiper stalk. When turning it to 'FULL' it doesn't go low enough. Pushing them down from the outside with almost no force will send them where they should be. It looks to me like the mechanic has adjusted them to be like normal cars? Possible to undo their handywork?
  12. After getting a fairly crap service at my local garage (my mistake, shouldn't have let them do it on a Saturday with 'weekend' staff) they replaced the wiper blades. Fair enough as the old ones were shot. The problem is... When turned off, the wipers don't seem to go back to their 'parked' position and when they're on, their resting point is much, much higher. A light push from the outside sends them back to where they used to rest when not in use. I dread to think how the guy fitted the new blades - perhaps by bending the arms upwards? :o Anyone have any ideas how I get things back to normal?
  13. Anyone know a good place to cheaply source a N/S/R caliper for a 1994 GS300. Apparently it's sticking like mad. Looked at importing one from the US for around the $115 mark, but *** knows how much shipping would be. Are these a weak point on these cars? Regards Alex
  14. Sure it's a UK car not an Aristo. It's a pearlesent white, I'd not seen this colour before either. I've seen some white ones in a sort of two tone - these were imports.
