  1. After catching the roof of mine several times with a lance from a car wash, the local chipsaway did a great job. Ther also managed to do the sports bumper when a kerb jumped out at me. You wouldn't know the difference! ← How much do these "chips" people charge ? I have a couple on the driver's door, a couple on the rear door, and I noticed a few very small ones on the bonnet (which I'm not too worried about) !! The ones on the doors are at that angle where you notice them when you walk up to the car so I'd like to get them sorted.
  2. Here's another question while we are on the subject of colour matching and re-spraying. Why is it that the Lexus Platinum Ice touch up paint (supplied with the car) doesn't match the paintwork on my car ? I have a couple of bitch paint chips which I have tried touching in and rubbing back, but they come out as a different shade to the car !! If I was to buy a can of spray paint, do you think it would be possible to just spray the chips if I was to mask the rest of the area, rather than pay someone to spray the whole panel ?

Nice deep polished lip. Me likes !
  4. WOW - This is the first time I've seen that car. I've never been too sure whether I would like to modify a Lexus or not, but that car is a VERY good example.
  5. I don't think it's that expensive. We have an Esportia in Bristol - my mate's a member. He pays about £60 a month (no parking fees though). I'm a member of David Lloyds in Bristol and am currently paying £62.50 a month. But if you price up how much a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, indoor & outdoor swimming pool, weights session, and free sun bed (and loads of hot bods) would cost you on separate payments it isn't all that expensive.
  6. I ain't heard of that before. That is a tricky one. If he gave the keys to the wowwypop who stole the car, I suppose he submitted the car to him. But then again the person now driving the car is not the rightful owner 'cos he don't hold the log book proving he's the registered keeper (this is if it was in the UK). So surely the car still remains stolen and his insurance should pay out for it ? It's kind off like he's been the victim of fraud. Best of luck to him, but you know how reluctant Insurance companies are for paying out !
  7. When babies are not properly secured, and a crash does happen, the results are not nice. ← I seen some dozy tart this morning on a dual carriageway, with her child in the back, whilst she was on her mobile. It makes you wonder what they think is more important, the child or the call.
  8. You're right. I heard it on one of those police programmes before - you can only carry a max of 3 people in the back. And sometime they're not happy about that because the person sat in the middle could be blocking your rear view.
  9. I've got a Sub which I took out of my last car, but am thinking about putting in the boot of my Lex. However, with just the normal speakers there seems to be a touch of vibration (which I can hear) coming from the rear shelf - especially when I turn the volume up. A question for you people who already have subs fitted. How do I get rid of that blasted rattle ?? Would I have to Dynamat it, and if so how much do you reckon it would cost ?
  10. What is the problem with these wheels ?? I do understand that the alloys on the earlier models never had the paint and lacquer finished all around the back and the inside off the wheel, but I have the "re-furbed" ones on my '51 plate and they still have part bubbling and they are also peeling in small places. I was actually going to take them to Lexus and let the do the refurbishments in a couple of months time, but reading this thread I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do. I haven't ever come across this kind of peeling and bubbling on an alloy before.
  11. You probably would be better off doing it in the Spring, when the weather is alot milder.
  12. You really only need to wash the car (make sure you dry it to get rid off any other debris that is still left after washing), clay it whilst spraying the area you are claying to keep the area moist (you will notice when you hit a dry patch - the clay sticks to the bodywork but don't panic it just peels off like plasticine), polish the car after, and then wax it to finish. Oh...make sure it isn't too hot a day as the car will dry too quick when claying and that creates hard work. Your car will feel (and look) as smooth as glass.
  13. I've used Philips Bluevision on a previous car. They are a nice white looking light, but if you are looking for the blue tint - like in Audi's - I don't think this will be the right choice.
  14. Why didn't they take the cigarette butt and run tests on it to trace the criminals ?? I suppose it too big a crime for them to get involved in. I think I've just answered my own question.
  15. Lex-aholic : Only GOLD members to post items for sale please ....... thanks. ← Sorry, I forgot.
  16. I've got a Pioneer 200w Sub with a built in amplifier. I used to have it in my previous car, but ain't too sure if I want it in my Lexus. It fitted nicely in the boot of my VW. The model reference is TFWX20LPA if you need to look it up for a glance.
  17. I wish they were all like you guys in Strathclyde then ;) . Our local police wouldn't show any interest in a car theft / break-in either.
  18. Wow, what a b***h. Sorry to hear about it. Although, that sounds typical off the police - too busy concentrating on their speeding tickets and doughnuts !!
  19. If we were to all boast how good out Lexi' were .. it would be rather boring i'm sure :winky: ← Did I tell you how fantastic the paintwork is on my Lex ? :D
  20. I did wonder at one point whether it would by "dirty" fuel, as the Sainsbury's where I go for my petrol - my Sister has complained about in the past.
  21. It seems to be okay when it's cold - it starts no problem first thing in the morning. It sounds daft, but it only seems to happen when I come out of work (8 hours later), that I seem to get these probs. I had one occasion when it turned over and over and over and then eventually started. I've had a couple of other occasions when it's turned over quick (about 5-6 times) and then kicked in kinda slow - like it's only just kicked in at 100 rpms, and built up to 1200rpms.
  22. Has anybody experienced this "problem" when starting their car. And if so what do you think the problem could be. I turn the key. The engine turns over really well (so it doesn't appear as though there is a battery problem). But it can take quite a while to kick in. It only happens occasionally so I'm kinda ignoring it at the mo, but would be interested to find out if anybody else is experiencing this.
  23. Exactly ! Don't they just do your head in ?
  24. I just wanted to share this with you all, and hope it will help you too. I've been with MoreThan insurance for a good number of years, as I have found them to be the cheapest. Yesterday I got my quote through for this year which turned out to be £489. Just by going onto their website and registering for exactly the same insurance, I have been quoted £354 Apparently this is a loop-hole in the system, as the website insurance companies are mainly there for new customers. But they cannot stop you from cancelling your current insurance, and renewing with the website one (which I had something like 10% off). So when your insurance is due for renewal, you now know what to do. Happy Motoring
  25. Nah, the wheel's fine....it's the rest of car which has been built on the wrong side of it. :P
