Many thanks.....got my fingers crossed about the MOT. Being a part time trader I never usually get too nervous about MOT's but this is the exception due to the consequences if something serious fails and renders Friday's trip in jeopardy!

I'm on the old mans computer again. I will be off to pick it up in a couple of hours. Managed to get a quote from National windscreens for £180 fully fitted in the end. Will be getting a local Jaguar Specialist to fully service and MOT it (it will be the first time I have ever paid someone to service my vehicle!....I'm still worried about the brake caliper for the big trip the Thursday after next! :tsktsk:

Is there anywhere I can get the genuine air/oil/fuel filters, sump plug washer and spark plugs for this Lexus without using the main dealer? Or is the main dealer reasonably priced for them? (I'm using the old mans log on!)

What should I be expecting bootspace wise from a IS-200 compared with a LS-400. What should I be looking for when I view one and what is the cambelt change period. Also what performance can be expected from a bog standard 2.0 one? :duh:

I'd have to agree.....the amount of fraudulent service history's is frighjtening anyway. Its a little but more difficult to forge something you have full invoices for going into detail. I have ended up buying a bmw 730 after the LS400 I put a deposit on needed £1000 worth of work on the dash lights! Guess the a Lexus was never to be. ;)

I Dont think it would pass a MOT like that....though I may be wrong. I have ended my search for a vehicle....have ended up buying a BMW 730.....wanted a Lexus...but it never worked out!

The gods have worked against me again! Had a call today from the dealer.....dash is going to cost him £1000 to repair and so the deal is off. My deposit will be returned and I am still car less and more importantly Lexus less! I dont think I was meant to have a Lexus!!! Back to the drawing board methinks :duh:

Just an update i have put a deposit on the LS400 i looked at today. The car has a couple of faults that i found, firstly the dash has a problem not lighting up and the gas struts on the bonnet are weak, the dealer has agreed to put 12 months mot and 6 months tax on and sort the dash problem out, fit new struts. If the dash problem is not sorted he has agreed to return my deposit. Does anyone have any idea what the problem with the dash could be and what sort of cost to repair.

Have purchased the LS400 today subject to a few problems being sorted by the dealer. Dash lights not working and front gas struts on bonnet knackered. If trader cannot sort out the dashlights he will give me my deposit back. Hopefully by next week once its been MOT'd I'll have my first Lexus all being well. I'm going onto the LS400 forum now to see what people think could be the problem.

I am Going to see a 1993 K plate LS400 tomorrow..it hasnt got full Lexus History but mostly dealer stamps to start with then independant garage for the rest of the full history....any ideas what to check on these beauties? Also where is the gearbox oil dipstick on them? Any help/advice much appreciated :winky:

I've been told that Lexus main dealers will not service Lexus vehicles with aftermarket LPG conversions. Is this truth or myth? and how do the different Lexus run on LPG?

Going to look to buy my first Lexus tomorrow. A 1997 GS300 Sport. What should I be looking at with these vehicles? Any weak spots (I know Lexus are legendary for reliability but they must still have weaker points) . At what mileage should the auto tranny fluid be changed and where is the transmission fluid dipstick. Any tips/advice is much appreciated.
