  1. Have a weird problem and not knowing much about motors im stuck. I filled up yesterday at my local Jet station and since then ive had a problem. When I accelerate all is fine until I hit 3,000rpm when it then starts to back off on the power, but then picks up again at 4,500rpm. Could it be dodgey fuel or am I looking at something else? It sometimes stutters as its accelerating through 3,000 too. Thanks EDIT: Oh, and its only done 30,000 miles and just had a service in December.
  2. double post not intentional. Site was slow yesterday and clicking the button many times didnt fix it ;)
  3. Sorry if this has been asked before, its a big ol forum and ive searched but found nothing conclusive. Im looking to fit a 2way cigarette socket into the glove box of my IS200 to power my various phones, GPS modules and such and I would like to hard wire it into the cars electrics to save having anything in my lighter socket (I dont use it, just want to keep things neat ;) ) Whats the best way to go about this? Ive read some articles for other cars mentioning about fastening the positive line into a nearby fuse (like here)by jamming the cable in, possibly with a clip on the end. If I were to do this where in the area of the glove box could I do this? What options do I have for this in the glove box area. I obviously dont want to wire it into something that will cause problems and I would also like it to be controlled by the ignition, so when the cars off, so are all the devices. Many Thanks
  4. Im wanting to fit an external GPS antenna for my little bluetooth GPS reciever and Im after some tips as to the best place to put it. Ive seen some people fixing them just below the parcel shelf but the cable on the antenna for my device is only 2m so I doubt it will stretch as far as the ciggy lighter (my planned location for the device as thats where the power is). I have no idea about cable routing as Computers are my thing, not cars. The gps antenna is magnetic so will fitting its mag base to the windshield with a sticky pad going to damage performance. Many Thanks
  5. I found that to make the car run smoother just reset the ECU. Seem to get through about half a tank of a smooth ride but then its back to normal twitchyness
  6. Exactly 4mph more. the 140mph was recorded on my Sat nav (Wayfinder on a Sony Ericsson P900, excellent stuff). The car speedo was on 144mph
  7. nope, factory standard is200se, tesco petrol. Nice flat M6toll dont know if i was going downhill slightly though though B)
  8. Motorway is rarely clear enough to do anything over 60 and the country roads are too narrow. The only time Ive ever pushed my car is on the M6 toll where I had my foot to the floor and the rev limiter kept me from reaching anything over 140mph
  9. so what is the difference between tesco petrol and the stuff you get at the shell/bp station? What do the additives do? Im talking about the normal 95ron stuff. If Optimax does indeed offer any benefits I cant say ive seen them. Or the difference is so tiny only a lab test can prove it so for me the normal stuff is good enough. I also get clubcard points and the company pays for my petrol, its like free shopping :D
  10. Dosnt that % fall within the realm of allowed variability. Really need to do a lot more fills and trips and average it out. I know that one tank full I can do 300 miles, the next just 200. Depends what kind of a mood im in that week ;)
  11. Fully fitted car kit yes. Unfortunatly all the voice directions come from the speaker on the phone, and Sony Ericssons never output that to the port and the car kit. dosnt matter though, pleanty loud enough and crystal clear.
  12. My lovely fully fitted P900 with Wayfinder sat nav on it. The little device in the middle of my dash (where you lucky b**tards with the real thing have a screen) is the GPS reciever. Bluetooth reciever feeds the info to my phone and gives me the sat nav. Hard to see the screen on this sunny day on the photos but looks fine to the eye. Full voice navigation to the destination, upto date maps, speed cam info, points of intrest and I can even put the little GPS in my pocket and use it while walking about. Thats true 'to the door' sat nav
  13. what does this look like, i know nothing about engines. whereabouts is it? sorry, computers is my thing :P
  14. Ive checked the oil and it looks like my dealer (whos unfortunatly not local) has put too much oil in. Looks like they gauged the level by inserting the dipstick and checking, not by pushing it all the way in so its over the mark by half a centimeter or so. Is it possible to drain a little or is it nothing to worry about. Also, when the engine is ticking over I can hear just that, a ticking. Is that normal. Thanks
  15. well, as expected its not a lexus window but one with a nice Toyota etched in the corner and they didnt hoover out all the glass so i have a nice rattle everytime i hit a bump. Slowly removing it from the vents in the bottom of the door. RAC Autowindscreens really could have tried at least.
  16. ive got an 03 is200 and ive got the open, felt lined one :(
  17. just realised they did get away with something, my cd wallet containing 1 copied Bon-Jovi CD. Unlucky fella :P
  18. well all the glass is hoovered out, slight scratch on some interior plastic trim where the autoglass guy dragged some glass across it, got a nice perspex window till they can get one in stock. I just hope when they put the proper one int they dont destroy my trim and put it all back together, or worse yet leave some glass in the door to make a nice annoying rattle forever more :P
  19. there was a footymatch on and the place was rammed, dunno how no one saw it. Prolly some away fans thinking they will have a go before heading back to whereever.
  20. For those that know Luton, foot match yesterday but thats not why i went into town, parked in the Library carpark near the top but it was all full, so hard to park away from the exits... BIG mistake. Came out of the cinema and saw a man in a yellow jacked standing by my car "Uh oh" thinks me and what do i see? What did they get? Nothing. I never leave anything in my car. I have nothing in there, nothing in the boot and nothing on show, not so much as a 5p in the ash tray. But i come back and find the window smashed, the center console box open and thats it, nothing else taken, damaged or moved. I do have a Sony Ericsson P900 car kit fitted with the cradle, (see review link at bottom for pics). I reacon they saw that, thought they would be a phone and could just get it from the glove box, But all I had was some Ray Bans (which they left) and Spongebob Squarepants handy wipes (mine, dont have any kids :D ). Just have to live with a perspex window until Autoglass can get a new is200 window shipped :duh: Nearest one in stock is Birmingham. :tsktsk: Luton Scrotes
  21. Optimax and my 1.2 corsa didnt mix. Its in my is for a couple of tanks worth now and no change im afraid, no smoother, no faster. just more expensive :D
  22. OK, this is intresting, all have the same car. Should work the same be it an SE, auto, manual etc. But some say no difference at all, some say they did notice. Very strange.
  23. i had a similar noise and it was actually coming from the handbreak. turns out it was the leater handbrake cover touching the seat and making it squeek. I moved the seat around until it wasnt a problem. Damn squeeks.
  24. if he did id imagine it would be like those comedy glasses with wipers on :P
  25. deffinatly on the back, it helps. But the front. best without it.
