  2. that's a really good price on those rims refurb mate!!! would be interested on more info about them... :D
  3. :o That's MY front end (after editting)!!! LOL ;) thought i recognised the pic
  4. No offence, but I strongly disagree mate. I do perform thorough testing of operating systems, before implementing them in a corporate environment, and I would suggest as a business & home user, that Vista Home Premium upwards is far more stable and adequate (compared to XP Pro SP2) to provide a platform to exercise applications that are both leniant and demanding on the processor and ram. Granted, that some vendors of 3rd party hardware are not able to support the OS, but as a general home user, Vista is most definitely (in my opinion) the best move forward.

NB: For the above scenario, the driver with 17" rims or bigger with a stock rim of 13", must be extra careful when driving through 50mph zones with speed cameras! Driving at 48mph (speedometer) could result in getting a speeding ticket!

MacRS200 receives 3 points. The games will continue :D On a different note, (for others) this is the way in which you can calculate the error in your speedometer if you change your wheels. Additionally, you can use reverse mathematics to figure out which tyre you can use on your alloy, to be as close to the best Speedo reading as possible :D

Correct with reference to proportional difference :D but you must show your working out... :P
  9. Agreed To all, please check with your motherboard manufacturer how much RAM it can support. Nowadays motherboards come with 3 slots capable of holding 3Gb... this does not mean that a motherboard with 4 slots will support 4Gb (although still possible). Also check out the FSB, as it would be a waste of money buying memory that is capable of faster speeds if the motherboard cannot use it. Also bear in mind, that XP OS can support up to 4Gb, and their are even fewer applications that will support the use of more than 2Gb RAM. I currently have Vista on a 2Gb desktop and a 1Gb laptop, and the difference is minimal if any. If you have further questions, just post them up :D
  10. Get a hold of the sound deadening, and let me know when. I'll pop over to give you a hand :) just make sure you get in the Beers :D No problem Snowman... I've got a few pictures of how the wiring is run into the door which i haven't posted up yet, because I was going to put that in an entirely seperate post. Check out : Front Door Wiring for a picture summary :D
  11. As you all know, I have an inquisitive mind, and I have my own answer to this, so I'm hoping for some good answers here... Just trying to get technical for a bit... Background Information ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A 13" steel wheel, has a 175/70/13 tyre installed. A 17" alloy rim, has a 215/40/17 tyre installed. A set of 13" wheels are fitted to a vehicle and driven down a road. A set of 17" rims are fitted to an identical vehicle and driven down the same road. The 13" wheels are fitted by manufacturer and the speedometer is calibrated to those sized wheels. The Question ~~~~~~~~ 1. If both vehicles are travelling at 70mph indicated by the speedo. Which car is physically moving faster? 2. If so, by how much? 3. What is the real speed difference between both sets of wheels at the indicated speedometer reading of 100mph? Let me offer some more information... 1" = 25.4mm 13" steel wheel = 330.2mm 175/70/13 tyre = 70% the width of the tyre ?? or 70% of the diameter of the rim? Circumference of circle = 2Πr Π = 22/7 Hint ~~~ Work out each circumference of the wheel and the alloy, find the difference, and understand how much further the wheel/alloy may travel over the other. I know this is really boring! but give it ago, maybe we'll all amaze ourselves!
  12. i didn't know the speedometer (needle) and the odometer (digital) were linked. i know that the speedometer on the IS200 is out by roughly 7 - 10% but not the odometer... The mileage recorded by the odometer (in my opinion) is 100% correct, and you are neither making a profit nor loss on your company expenses. I think this particular discussion calls for a seperate topic. :D
  13. What does your mate do for a living? Allsorts.....he was in the alarm/ice builds....electronics genius :D Would like to make his acquaintance one day... get him onto LOC... doesn't have to own a Lexus to be a member :D
  14. Hi John, Perhaps one of the GS owners will be along shortly to help you answer this :) Regards...
  15. Intresting thought process......my cars had a full closure package in place now for over 3 yrs (developed by a m8, please dont ask how it was done as i dont know) and is still working fine. :D Good luck trying to find a solution though. Hi Scorps, Is it possible for you to get your mate to explain what he used and how he acheived the "FULL" autoclosure? I'm at a stage where I have the sunroof, wing mirrors, and 2 by 2 windows closing... but no way in a "fashionable" satisfactory way... I don't doubt it's possible, as I have come very close to the finished article, however (like most) i am extremely fussy in the many variables and electrical technique used. Best Regards...
  16. ooopsie, sorry! i hope i didn't remind you of the "bzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz crrrrrrrrr bzzzzzzzzzzz wizzzzzzzzzzz" sound of the drill.... :D
  17. LOL... some of the stuff people do... lol.... mind you, i did a similar thing when i was a kid... I used to have those metal braces on my teath, the ones where they cement the metal part individually to each tooth, with a metal rail between them. Anyway, came into my posession was a 9v square battery... The type you test on your tongue to see if it's still got charge in it (don't deny it, you've all tried it!!) Well... I decided to test the charge of one of these lil batteries between the top and bottom rail of my braces... ...needless to say I was tasting "Burn" for a few weeks after... :shutit: What's more strange is, the buzzing sensation was quite addictive and I found myself searching for more 9v batteries
  18. that is looking awesome!! very clean... and a fine example of how a car should be looked after :) well done :D
  19. fair enough... sounds like a bit too much work to get it into a condition you (or i) would even begin to be happy about. i'll keep my eyes open for you mate...
  20. have you made any offers to the seller(s) for a reasonable value for what you think the vehicle is worth? no harm in a bit of haggling if you really liked the car...
  21. interesting... just had a thought... you could leave the wheels inset to give it a "Rally look" ??
  22. the sound on those is just beautiful!!! well impressed! :D
  23. blimey... firstly... upload pics of your car!!! wide-kit IS200s are just plain awesome! As for the offset 21, perhaps you can buy a standard set of 8" rim width like those fitted to the RAV4 and insert a 10mm spacer?! It should bring the wheel out just enough to line up with your wide kit, and the TTE range for the RAV4 isn't so bad... I have the Grand Prix 17s with +35 offset on rears.
