  1. I have a 2002 Altezza - I'm waiting to do SVA and have a question Does anybody know if the lights have to have the 'E-mark' to pass the SVA test ? I've heard that I will need to fit IS200 fog lights, - is this true ? - anybody got experience ? What about the headlights - will these also have to have the 'E-mark' ? Thanks
  2. so... I'm now the proud owner of an RS200Z (2001 model - after minor change). Luckily for me, I live in Japan and will be able to ship it back to UK as a personal import next year. From doing a bit of research, I know that the car must pass the standard SVA, not the ESVA. Basically I know that all the tests done for Standard SVA can be done at the test centre, and no model report is needed........... however, I'm still not sure exactly what needs to be done to pass the standard SVA. By the way, the car is in completely Original condition. A few questions for anybody that has the knowledge; 1. For the speedometer: to what extent does this have to be modified ? Is a simple re-calibration sticker over the dial showing mph OK ? or does the ECU need to be reprogrammed. 2. What about the odometer: does this also need re-calibrating 3. For the HID headlamps: These are fitted as Original Equipment, and have auto levelling + cleaners - is this sufficient ? 4. Alarm and immobilser: Are these needed for the standard SVA ? to what standard do they have to be ? 5. Rear Fog lights: Is it OK just to fit temporary lights that can be removed aftewards ? If so, has anybody any suggestions how to do ? 6. Tyres: Is a specific speed index needed ? or anything else ? 7. Radio frequencies - whats the best way to change this ? 8. Fuel neck restrictor: Is the UK IS200 part compatible ? + Anything else that I've forgotton........ Thanks for your time !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. a lot of advise - thanks.. Actually I'll be able to ship as a personal import and therefore only need the SVA. So manual or auto doesn't matter. I looked at some cars on a used car website in Japan today (goo.net) and surprisingly most of them have MTM's, not ATM's. The margins are quite tight when you include the shipping, modifications needed for the SVA and depreciation - even taking into account the cost exemptions being a personal import. My feeling is that people are not so willing to pay a little less for Japanese import IS200... but would be willing to pay the money for something a bit different i.e. RS200Z. Or am I wrong..
  4. thanks for that - RS200Z should be easy to get hold of. But "model report" - what is that for ? something for the SVA ? Actually I prefer a manual T/M, and I thought the manual version would be more popular in UK.... but autos are everywhere here, so won't be a problem to buy an auto
  5. At the moment I'm living and working in Japan, and will probably buy a used Altezza soon. When I return to UK next year, I will take the car back with me and will sell the car. So my question is, what would be the best Altezza model and Spec to buy so that I won't have trouble selling the car when I return - basically I need to know which Altezza model is the most sought after in the UK ? any advice would be very welcome !! Thanks.
