  1. Hi Andy, I tried it in my LS400 as I was going on holiday and nedded to fill the tank right up. I Think I got less mpg than I do on normal unleaded, I needed to refuel a lot sooner than I would normally have done when going the route I usually take. I was glad of the Nav unit for locating a fuel station nearby. (There are not very many on the North West Coast of Scotland). I have not used Optimax since and I don't think I will again. :P Jimbo-6
  2. Thanks Helio, As it transpires and after browbeating and threatening to kneecap my local dealer (EDINBURGH, STILL NO DISCOUNTS :(), we came to the conclusion that the £800·00+ unit was not required as it was only the LCD panel which was faulty. This could be easily resolved by purchasing a new facia panel, this also includes the Air Con control buttons, and an absolute bargain at a mere £358·00+. This was duly purchased and fitted by myself in 10 minutes. Dealer wanted car for a day as they had never exchanged one, so they did not know how long it would take. NOTE TO ALL:- This part was NOT on the micro-fische, it was only located by contacting Lexus Head Office! How many other parts are only available via a call to Head Office??? :flaming: Thanks Again Jimbo-6
  3. Good Idea :) . I would certainly be up for that. Knockhill or Crail or even up at Errol near the Skydiving School could be FUN. :?::?::?::eyes:
  4. :) So now you know that if you hear a little bit of volume coming from a car & there are no "puggies or Novas" in sight, but there's an LS400 being driven by an old fart:- give us a wave :saint: A lot of the music is ripped from 50's & 60's tunes anyway :wow:. Even Kinobe admitted that the "HooK" for "Are You Sitting Comfortably" was ripped from an old Engelbert Humperdink song. I even enjoy doing a bit of ripping & mixing myself. (Automix is one of my favourite mixing progs). Good luck to all in the club and may we all meet up at some point! Jimbo (Going for Gold)..
  5. Cheers Lads & Lassies. Today (or should that be yesterday) my antique LS400 recieved a "Nice New Toy for the Old Fart to play with". (Quote from wife, may she never look inside the wallet). :wow: New Toy is in the shape of a JVC KD-SH99R   This superb head unit not only plays MP3's, but also allows you to use 2 seprate external inputs. One of the inputs is from a standard jack plug into a socket on the face panel. The other is on a lead behind the head. To try the unit out I used a cd which I had burned a couple of nights ago. 13 directories 154 FILES. All directories were "Named", and all files were given "Title" "Artist" "Album". These were also burned onto the cd using CD-TEXT. This resulted in a scrolling display of all the information. As the files were a mixture of Drum & Base, Hard House, Trance, Chill-Out etc. The total was 672mgb. This ONE cd lasted from Edinburgh to Birmingham And back and still had not started to repeat itself. :D (Question)? Do I Have The Oldest LS400 In The Club??? It's A Vintage 1992. Unlike myself :( (A Well Matured 1939). :eyes: Doing Great Work With The Site!!! ;)
  6. There can never be a winner!! Because the administrators will always have the ability to create the final posting. As they would have to give the "fabulous prize" to themselves for the "LAST POST" announcing the winners!! DUHH :?:
  7. An ancient LS 400 circa 1992. In beautiful condition for it's 150,000 miles. I am the second owner of this vehicle and have been extremely impressed with the quality of this ageing Wondercar. My previous car was a Mercedes Benz 420SE. :tumble: All parts as standard. Colour: Silver.
  8. :?: Sorry for the delay in replying but I have just got my machine back together. I was looking at the site from my office! The unit has bulbs behind it, but they were checked by my Lexus dealer in Edinburgh. That's when they told me a new unit was £800·00 + + +. I was not a happy chappy when they told me. Only other sort of hope is that I can find a rear ended write off, and get the clock from that.
  9. I have just bought a 10 year old LS400 :) Unfortunately the clock and temperature lcd display is not visible unless you move your head almost underneath the steering wheel. All bulbs have been renewed. I Suspect that one of the crystals has split, giving a dark watery look to the display. My local LEXUS Dealer kindly offered to replace the unit on condition that I part with a further £800·00 plus 17·5% VALUE added TAX, and £35·00per hour labour. After a reasonable amount of coughing, spluttering, and calling for paramedics with the defibulator I departed the premises with the usual excuse (not the cheque will be in the post). Does anyone know of an alternative or where one can be obtained (legally) or sourced without the extortionate charges my LOCAL LEXUS DEALER is trying to screw out of me. Please help a new (SKINT) LEXUS owner & club member. Will comment on Owners Club Site after a few weeks experience. ;)
