  1. this advert just popped up recently on our Singapore forums (the parts are actually in australia! power of the internet :)) ============================= 2000 model Is200 motor(2ltr 6cyl)complete, turbo, intercooler, Exhaust, Haltech computer, six-speed gearbox, all piping. Extensive head and motor work. Motor less than 15,000kms. receipts available. 250rwkw (dyno'd) [335 whp!!!] papers available. Hear running. It has also forged pistons & rods. ==============================
  2. Well, I think the important thing is to decide what you want from them. Do you want your money back or do you just want a new exhaust that fits? There's really no point getting mad at them. Your rights are crystal clear. The Sale of Goods Act (esp. the new consumer protection amendments) are completely in your favour, so you can definately get a full refund.
  3. oops. forgot to mention, I was referring to a price increase from $1.2 to $1.7 per lit in Singapore Dollars (which is roughly going for S$3 = GBP1 nowadays). I mentioned it because I was living in the UK (leicester) from about the middle of 2003 to 2004, and I recall prices being around 80p or thereabouts. So if you're telling me that prices are 90p nowadays, then it has "only" increased by some 12-15% vs the 40-50% increase over here.
  4. Most back-box exhausts for the IS bolts onto the silencer part of the exhaust system (I assume you're referring to a rather large cylinder inbetween the cat and the muffler?).
  5. The price varies greatly by brand. Going for the premium brands such as TRD and Tom's will probably set you back more than GBP350-400. Other brands can go to as low as GBP200-250 perhaps. As a reference, over here, the Blitz Nur S exhaust can be bought for about GBP250, the Apex'i Hybrid Evolution is about GBP310 and the TTE Sports Silencer is about GBP350.
  6. Actually, prices of 0.85-0.90p isn't that great of an increase over the past 24months (basically since the crude oil prices have soared). Pump prices have gone up from $1.2 to $1.7 in the past 24months here.. *sob*
  7. I thought the RS200s had a speed cut? How did you manage to get up to 243km/h?
  8. If you get the entire front bumper from the US then I don't think you'll need modification. If anything, it's slightly bigger and will have more room for your intercooler (US crash regulations basically require additions to the front bit, hence the larger bumper).
  9. There is no way that replacing the back-box is a 'specialist' job requiring 'special' tools. I figure they just don't want to fit something not purchased from them. That said, why are you looking for an oval design? IMO, the oval design is only useful if you plan on stripping out the toyota heatshield from around the original box and putting it on the new one for stealth reasons. But if you're gonna get a 3 1/2 inch tip, then there's not much stealth anyway!
  10. The problem with using a onboard graphics chipset is that you're not going to be able to play many of the new, graphic-intensive games. Perhaps the best solution is to play some of the games which are 1-2 years old like the Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon series (if you can pull off playing Unreal Tournament over some unsecured WiFi point it would be absolutely amazing!!). Another thing you can try is to run one of the SNES or arcade game emulators. On another note, if anyone is building a carputer to play the latest games, then the best solution might be a laptop base running the Geforce Go 6800. That will run just about anything out there today.
  11. They're not really that pricey. For some bizarre reason, things get marked WAY up by the time it reaches your sunny *ahem* isle. Anyway, I've already got a few PMs on this meter hood/pod, but I don't want to contravene the rule against non-gold members selling stuff, so I'm not going to disclose the price on the main forum until it's been sold :)
  12. Oh my! That's a glorious looking i/c !! *kudos!*
  13. I agree, anti roll bars are definately the most bang for the buck handling mod. From the ones that I know of and have had the opportunity to check out, the TRD sportivo ones are the mildest upgrades, the TRD yellow ones in the middle and the cusco ones the hardest. It may not always be the best thing to go for the hardest ones because the ride does get noticably 'choppier' on bumpy, b roads. as for coilovers, there are some relatively comfortable ones. most notably the HKS Hipermax LS, which some users swear are even more comfortable than stock (damping, rebound rates perhaps?)
  14. That's exactly what I'm looking for :) Can I ask how much it set you back ? ← I got mine 2nd-hand off a friend (urm.. one of his last mods to his IS before changing car... so not too old). But brand new it'll set you back over GBP350
  15. Urm.. that picture was taken when the car was about 10 days old. Plus she gets washed daily :)
