  1. Thanks for the info Kev, I was confused looking for a small 2" unit like in the engine bay, whats being referred to is the actual unit that plays the cd, yes? I admire your soldering skills even more now, i took that unit apart yesterday and found the battery held vertically in a soldered connection right up against the gps receiver, no way am i going at that! I still dont know if i have a bad cd or bad player or what, so i need to track down a 2.1 cd to start the troubleshooting. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnyone out there have a 2.1 ver cd they want to flog cheap? Thanks again for the help and good luck with your quest. Ronald.
  2. Sorry to butt in here, i am having a sat nav cd not read problem in a '99 gs300, wanted to try disconnecting the sat nav ecu that is being referred to in this thread, could someone let me know where its located? I brought the car back with me from the UK and Irish dealers dont want to know, so this has to be a diy fix, or else drive up to see KevBonner!! Many thanks, Ronald,
  3. Hello all: Does anyone know if its practical to bring a worn out power steering pump to a machine shop or the like and have it rebuilt. I have a '99 GS300 that needs a new pump and i am having trouble digesting a 900 euro bill for a car with only 55k on the clock. Thanks for any and all ideas. Ronaldo,
  4. I have a 1999 GS300 with a terrible noise coming from the power steering pump. I have been told it needs to be replaced. At 50K miles this is surprising. Anyway i am looking for a used one. Is it the same pump as any other lexus or toyota? Any and all suggestions/ideas welcome ................... including a cheaper source for he pump! Thanks as always, Ronaldo,
  5. I have a 99 GS300 with only 50K miles that has the same problem. I was quoted 700 euro for the pump, plus labor. So now i am looking for a used or reconditioned pump. So i will be keeing an eye on your thread to see how you go! R,
  6. Thanks dave M and all for the feedback. I have a local toyota guy checking it out tomorrow. I had hoped to be able to resolve this stupid mistake with less pain to my pocket. I was told today that sometimes you have to leave the key in the ignition on position for 30 minutes to get it to reprogram, that was the kind of miracle i was hoping for. Guy said it was in a (toyota) service bulletin. This is a great forum, thanks everyone. Ronaldo,
  7. everything works that has a fuse, i had to steal some non essential fuses from the head lights etc as it was after the shops closed on saturday.... the horn fuse, ecb2 fuse, plus 2 others i cant remember now, were blown. none have re-blown since being replaced. The current symptoms are that the engine cranks just fine, The red light indicating the immobiliser is set does not go out The key (both sets) will not function to lock/unlock the doors or boot. All other electrics appear to work fine, windows int lights, turn signals etc Thanks for the feedback, Ronaldo.
  8. yep tried that, no joy, even gave it more time to make up for my cruel injury to the poor car, still no joy, engine just turns, never starts and key does not operate doors or trunk. thanks for the fast feed back. Ronaldo,
  9. I blew the main 120a fuse on a gs300 by jump starting backwards. Replaced the fuse and several others which blew. The immobiliser is now not reponding to the key, nor is the boot lid. The engine turns but will not start. Any ideas short of calling the dealer? Thanks for any help you can give. Ronaldo.
