  1. Just one more for good measure: The 'secret' cubby holes under the front seats on the 430 are missing from the 460. I totally agree with all the other 'failings' of the 460 - bloody quick though, isn't it?
  2. I was wondering if there any LS460 owners out there who have experienced a problem with the stereo amp? Mine has just blown and, on contacting Lexus (to ask what was causing the ear-deafening audio alarm-which you can't turn off!) they immediately appeared to diagnose the problem, over the telephone. It's currently booked in to have it replaced, but I suspect that this is a known problem. Wonder if anyone else has experienced this?
  3. Thanks for your views guys. The main reason for asking was that I had very kindly been loaned an LS460 for several days by Lexus Twickenham to see if I would experience the same back problem I had when switching from an 'old' GS to the 'new' GS 3 years ago. I did immediately get a back ache, hence my question. Whilst taking the car back to the dealer yesterday (150 mile journey), I did some more experimenting with the seat controls and discovered the control that slides the seat squab backwards/forwards made a big difference (the GS doesn't have this control). I think I can get a comfortable position now, which makes the decision a lot easier, as the car is awesome (over-used word, I know) in almost every other way. Absolutley gutted that the front air vents no longer have an oscillate feature though!! Many thanks for your help Bob
  4. Hi I wonder if anyone can help me? I currently drive an LS430, which is supremely comfortable. I am thinking of buying an LS460 but am concerned about the comfort. Whilst the LS460 is more involving and handles and drives better than the 430, it also a much firmer ride. This might suit many people, but I have a slight back problem (never an issue in the 430) which I worry might become a problem with the 460. I am not especially old (well - I don't think so - mid 50s) and I know this might sound like an 'old man's complaint', but it could be an expensive mistake if I have to change the car in 6 months time. I wonder if anyone here has changed from a 430 to a 460 and, if so, how have they fared regarding this matter? I appreciate that it is a personal thing, and we are all different, but I would still be very interested in anyone's experiences. Thanks very much Bob
  5. If you have already viewed the car this reply might be a little late, but better late than never. I own an '05 LS430, so can't comment on the age of the car, but with that mileage the car is barely run in. I have done similar mileage and have had no problems worth mentioning, which is what you'd expect given the quality and reputation of the car. I can achieve 30mpg on a motorway run, but only with a light right foot. You should expect to get 27-28mpg without too much trouble. Around town it's a little different but you should get 22-23mpg. Unless, of course, your town is central London, in which case expect 16mpg. Sounds like a good buy too me, but would repeat all the comments made by Peter regarding fsh etc. Go for it, you won't be disappointed! Bob
  6. Thanks eXOBeX. Good spot. I was in danger of missing that one. And as for Boo, if I were you, my friend, I would be very careful when making that kind of offer on a public forum. It could be construed as a binding contract, and I have very good lawyers. Unless, of course, you were offering some kind of part-ex deal?
  7. Thanks chaps...yes, tried every possible seat position but hasn't helped. As for the other suggestion, I'm a married man. Gave that sort of thing up years ago.
  8. I know this is a personal thing, and we're all different, but I just wondered whether any new GS owner has had any back problems since getting their new car? I have had the previous model GS430 Sport, and before that a GS300 and never had any back pain at all. Since getting my new 430 (fabulous, by the way) I have been getting grief from my back, and wondered whether it was connected, or just a coincidence. It is a firmer ride than the old model, which is not a bad thing normally, but might be for me. Hoping it's a coincidence!
  9. Nah, that's Boreal Green. In my opinion, it doesn't suit the car. Flint Mica in the US is known as Aleutian Grey in the UK, although in Lexus GB's wisdom it's not available on the GS. Hence why I haven't bought one. ← Well, I pick up my Canterbury Blue with Sutherland Interior 430 this weekend, so I hope I'm not disappointed with my choice. Getting excited now, but with fingers crossed
  10. Thanks guys. I agree with everything you say about 'sod what others think'. It's only that I've never seen anyone under 70 driving one. Mind you, I do live near Bristol, which is hardly at the cutting edge of technology or style. They think you're a 'bit flash' down here if you've got Sky TV. And when I take my TR6 out on a sunny day! Well, you'd think I'd just landed from Mars...
  11. This is my first post on this forum so please be gentle with me. I currently drive a GS430 Sport, having owned a GS300 previously. I am now considering changing to an LS430, but am worried that I am not old enough! Seriously. I am 53 years old and would be interested to know the average age of LS drivers. Perhaps this forum could give me a clue. Stupid question, I know, but I would be interested. I have such little street cred left and I would hate to lose that. Many thanks
