Yes the LS400 is a wonderful car. I loved the ones I had. I had a great Reg on one V400LEX . wish i had kept it. Iv just been told that the power steering rack will be £6000. It better be under warrentee. Iv been reading in the forums that they are not making LS for the UK. Do you think they are using up all the odd bits they find in the bin, thats what it feels like to me. So what are LS owners to do next ? Buy German ? Iv had them and it will be hard to go back but I think I might have to if Lexus keeps letting me down.

I am on my 5th LS and am beginning to wonder what has gone wrong with this once wonderful car. I have had 2 400, 2 430 and my present 460. All was well until I got to my second 430. It was a disaster. It almost ruined me. It was a good job it was under warrantee or I would have gone under. When I sold it back to Lexus Bristol with a loss of 5k in 5 months, it had had 3 new wheel bearings, a new dif , 2 ride suspension height sensors a new radar sender and the suspension had collapsed with a few other faults. So with all this going on in a few months and a car that had done around 50k, I didn’t get to sort out the hard ride. I was just glad to get rid of the thing. I noticed it was back on the forecourt at a lot more than I had received from them. Iv had my 460 for 9 months. It is in Lexus Bristol at the moment. The power steering rack needs replacing. It has done 73k. What has gone wrong at Lexus..

Hi I have a LS430 ,this is my third LS , 400 great . old 430 wonderful this late 430 the worst car I have ever owned. The ride is very hard and will give you a bad back. I will change it very soon after 5 months ownership and will be getting a 460 so I hope its an improvement and don't end up with a bad back

Hi Lexus owners. I have just last week bought a 2005 LS430 in black, looks nice (when clean) . I noticed and commented on the hard ride of this car to the sales person who took me out on the first test drive. I asked if it could be tyres or the bigger wheels to my previous LS cars. She said it may be! But having driven it for a week and feeling every bump I’m not so sure. My other LS s have been smooth on the road and took rough roads in its stride. So after reading your comments on the air suspension I think it might need a bit more investigation. Has anyone else noticed the difference in ride in the pre 2004 and the upgrade after 2004. I would expect a better ride not worse. Thanks for any help

Just a point for someone esle who may have this. I had the brake judder and i replaced front pads and discs, but it didnt go untill i replaced the Rear pads. !! . Hope this helps someone.

Hi the sat nav thing sounds great, I have a ls400 mk 4 , cd sat nav and would like an update. Its about to go in for big service and timing belt change, so loads of money. Im in Bristol so i will ask if it is the case as your dealer says. btw my reg is V400LEX dont know if i should keep it when i get a 430, will it fit ?

Thanks all for the hints on brakes. I recently replaced my front pads using genuine Lexus parts. I was about to pick up a new sensor cable when I noticed the price. Thinking the parts assistant had mistaken it for a gold plated hi fi cable I asked him to check. Yes that was correct £52.70. So I let him put that one back on the shelf. I will try to dig the wire out of the sensor as mentioned above if not cut and join. I also get the judder on breaking so will soon replace the front discs. BTW my reg is V400 LEX , not bad for the car

Hi All I have had my LS400 ( 2000) for just over a week and am enjoying it. I was a bit worried about my mpg so did a test over a few days i went to Heathrow from Bristol 4 times in 3 days , the readings gave me 29.3 mpg. That is more than i was getting with my 2.8 7 series. Speeds at around 70 - 80. One thing i did notice. if you are doing a mpg test. Switch off the AC. How do i put a pic of my car on here?. Just wanted to show off my number plate, V 400 LEX

Old fart in Bristol !! am I doomed ? I’m 61 don’t consider my self old, and the car well , just great. I run an exec travel firm and while I was on a job near London I got chatting to another chauffer. He had the LS430 , I had not looked at the Lexus before that. He gave me the keys and I took it for a drive. Great car, I was driving a 7 series BMW that I loved. But I was so impressed by the Lex . I decided I would get one. This week I picked up my L400 year 2000. Reg ( V 400 LEX ). :) Could not be better. Still getting used to the toys, but love it. But No TV ( miss my teletext ) and no hands free phone. I expect I will be back at this site asking stupid questions, so you will have to help out an old fart. You are as old as the woman you feel. :zee:

Thanks Flotsam Looks like I will have to get bluetooth installed for the phone. Sounds lol, well i was listening to Diana Krall and it was as if she were there. Im sure i will have a great time finding all the good stuff, looks like someone has nicked the tool kit as the place in the boot is empty. all the best

Hi all I have just bought a LS400 year 2000. The Reg is V400 LEX :D ,i cant find a phone in mine . has someone nicked it or am i missing somthing. I also have a function switch on the steering wheel. what will that do ??. I just got the car today so its a ll a bit new. Sat Nav?? can i put destinations into amemory as i could with my BMW. or do i have to reenter them every time ?? The wife and i went out for a spin in our new baby. she hit a curb ~+!# #####. not too bad but , she has to go. Love the sounds in this car , much better than the BM or the Merc. any help or tips will be great .

You have yours, great I will have mine on Wed i hope . also the LS400. You will not beleive the Reg. I will let you know when i get it and will hope to post pics. and ask all kind of stupid questions from u guys. many thanks . new to Lex
