  1. I have exactly the same problem, since last year when it snowed real bad. Would love to hear about a possible solution.
  2. just wanns say used this guide and got my 6 disck top loading player working again!!!! a big thankks
  3. i had mintex front discs and pads fitted about 2 years ago and their still going strong, not had a problem with them. two weeks ago had mintex rear pads fitted. so thumbs up when it comes to mintex from me. bought the mintex discs and pads off ebay and like u sed had a local garage fit them. it's not a big job.
  4. my cars been playing up for the last three weeks, left standing for a while it just wouldnt start, the time on the dash was resetting itself so i assumed it was the battery...after turning the ignition on it was showing about 9 volts on the dashboard. it would start straight away after connecting jump leads, replaced battery and it starts first time now. not had a problem yet.
  5. Dont mention it, glad i could help for a fellow lex owner :-)
  6. Hia Dan Glad u got it sorted! Did u get a hire car to drive around in when your's was in the garage? Maddy
  7. i'm an idiot and i used the same guide, very easy to follow. and got some help from sparkystav on here...don't know about the MOT yet ..should be ok as i know the man personally at the MOT staton but i will defo ask him when it goes in for MOT which is next year anyway lol. i did this conversion but i also did the flashig brake light conversion at the same time , since i wouldnt have to start pulling off boot liners again if i did the flash brake light seperatly.
  8. I've recently put some led's in the rear license plate aswell....the same ones as the ones in the picture from Lexus2D....they are brightest as i've tried a few...not tried the inverted ones but the ones in the picture from lexus2d are same as mine..have them in the sidelights at the front aswel....they don't show up during the day at all but the really are bright at night...i've recently got into all the light business aswelll lol. just had the led lightstrips (eyebrows) put on front, got the brake/fog conversion done...and also the rear flashing brake lights done aswell. .one thing i've got to say..it's rather alot of work just to replace the license plate bulbs....have to pull the inner liner on the boot lid, then have to do 4 nuts...the two that are in the centre are the hardest to get to... i ordered all my bulbs and light strips from a seller called gxxled on eeeebay...brilliant next day delivery..from london i think, ordered afew times from him.
  9. i've just used this topic to replace my two boring license plate bulbs with super bright xenon led's...WHAT A MISSION just to change a couple of bulbs!!! the furthest two bolts werent that bad...but the middle two bolts were a nightmare, especially since i had no extension to undo them..just used a normal 8mm spanner. end result is nice though...alot brighter! thanks again LOC members.
  10. ive had this problem twice now and got it sorted, its come back again now but the garage im usings having it back next week had a new fuseboard and alarm/light ecu, how did you sort yours? lex manchester sorted it...just like what u said a new fuseboard and something to do with alarm...and cost 600!!!!but been fine since then and it's been like 2 anda half years now.
  11. blimey!!!!! just been reading my old posts on this headlight staying on after car is off issue. first time ive read this topic in like 2 and a half years . wish i knew back then what i've read in this topic about this problem....coz it would have saved me £600 pounds at lex manchester!!!!! RIP OFF B*****DS!!!
  12. how much did the cost you?..mine have corroded at the back of the fogs and need a new set so am looking to buy a set/ cheers
  13. hia mate...as and when i get the new ones....what exactly am i coating with silicone?....is the metal bit inside the plastic housing that you fit the hb4 bulb into...the one with the three screws around it? cheers
  14. just called them and they had two in....and both bumpers have gone!!!..DARN!
  15. thanks all for the replies...how soon do u think u wll have them for sale boddamloon?...and how much will you be looking for?...pm me...had day off from work so been going to some breakers ....and is200's are a real rarity to find in a breakers been to about 6 and none had lexus!!! anyways...mine is a 6 speed manual ...sports.... there are no vents on the wheel arch liner so i dont know how they have corroded so badly!!!!!... one theory i thort of as i was trying to get to sleep last night ..... .....the fogs were working fine everr since i' purchased it about 3 years ago....ive not noticed the fogs for about a year....but i've taken my car to lexus dealer a couple of times (the one in manchester , bury new road)....the first time it went in was for the new tyres and the second time it went in was for a headlight problem....and the theory i have is that they have, on the sly, swapped my fogs ...in other words taken my working ones off and put in ones that are corroded!!!....it's possible! lol
  16. can i also ask .....am i right in thinking that the bulb for the front fogs is the HB4 9006 type with the plastic connection end at 90 degrees....is this the same as the headlight bulb?
  17. i know it wold have been alot easier if i was still under warranty but mine is a 2001 model...i've been looking around and i've seen loads on ebay and stuff...but they seem to be listed as is300 rather than is200....are these the same as the is200...connections and fitting? http://www.lextasy.com/is300_jdm_white_fog...s_1427_prd1.htm http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-JDM-A...sspagenameZWDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-TOYOTA-...sspagenameZWDVW i think all these are the jdm white clear fog lights for the is300....i mean if lexus are charging 120 plus vat each then the ones on ebay are 100 pound for the pair..but t means getting them shipped from the japan or hong kong or america....i mean still it works out alot cheaper than the ones direct from lexus.thats the way im thinking anyway.
  18. i know i've already replied to someone elses post about the same thing but i was gonna create one for myself so here it is.. i've just taken both mine out today as they both werent working even though....when you turn them on.... the light on the dashboard comes on.... i peeled back the wheel arch liner ..you dont have to peel it back fully ...i just took out just two of the plastic plugs holding it....and also unscrewed two of the 10mm bolts underneath the bumper.....this should allow you to peel back the liner so you can see the back of the fog light housing unit.... then if you look at the fog light from the front of the car - on the side of the fog light, there should be two 10mm bolts that are holding the fog light housing...i undid these..... obviously making sure you have unplugged the wire that clips into the back of the fog light housing. then with one hand inside hold the back of the fog light housing....and the other hand on the front of the fog light..just give it a little wiggle and it should just slide outwards...... i took both mine out like this...and they came out nice and easy....after taking them out i found both the units were really badly corroded to the point that the metal bit inside the housing was just cracked and broken and and the bulb was broken away from it. Can someone shed some light one this please as im really confused as to where to go from here.....can i do anything with these units or do i need to buy new ones..and if i need to buy new ones can anyone recommend a place to get them from. cheers

  20. cheers for that p38aaron....they look spot on. do u have any piccies of the dba's? and how much are the prolex grooved discs?....ive had a look on the prolex site and can only find the mintex and the big brakes disks...but cant seem to find the prolex grooved disc on there. where would i buy the dba disc from? maddy
  21. cheers guys for the replies.....it looks like it'll be between the prolex grooved and the DBA... but still im nowhere nearer to checking prices or having a look at pictures of theses discs.... if anyone can give me a link or smoehting so that i can check prices and have a look at pictures of the discs i would appreciate it. cheers again maddy.
  22. hia everyone Recently when braking hard from about 80mph down to about 40mph there is a lot of steering wheel judder....and u can feel the brake pedal vibrating under ur feet when it's pressed at those speeds and the judder/vibration seems to be from the front of the car...but otherwise it drives smoothly and effortlessly.......braking at low speeds seems perfect i.e. no judder or vibration. i'm assuming the discs are warped having read some posts relating to the same problems. having looked at the discs...they are shiny and have smooth surfaces (no rust) so im assuming the calipers arent seized or anything like that....i've already just replaced the pads on the front. having looked around here i've come across several discs for the is200 ...but i'm having trouble actually finding out where i can buy them and how much they are? so if anyone can point me to an online store or something where i can check prices and possibly see some piccies of the discs it would help me in hopefully getting rid of the annoying judder/vibrations.. i've seen: Diamond Blacks, prolex-uk grooved, DBA,EBC there also seems to be different kinds of discs such as: drilled, Grooved, drilled and grooved cheers maddy
  23. im trying to find out what a 60,000 and a 70,000 service consists of? i missed my 60,000 and now it's just gone 70,000 miles. cheers guys (and girls) maddy
  24. i have a 2001 lexus is200 a couple of nights ago i turned car off and went inside...a few hours later someone knocked on ma door and said my lights were still switched on...so i went outside and tried to swicth them off but they wouldnt switch off(they werent on auto but they were set to off)....ignition key was out and they were still on..they just wouldnt switch off....so i ended up disconnecting the battery terminal as it would have drained the battery by the morning.... next day i connected battery terminal and still same...when car is running they work fine....swicth off and on fine.....but it's just when u turn ignition off and take the key out that they just switch bck on again and stay on!!!!!! so i ended up taking the relay block out for the headlamps everytime i had to park the car!!!! annoying i know so i took it to lexus manchester and they said that it needs a new "alarm ecu" and a new "offside front junction block" and they quoted me £645 (labour and including parts and vat) for the whole job!!!! has anyone heard of this before and are they ripping me off.....coz the impression that i had (btw im no mechanic) was that it would probably be a new relay block for the headlamps!!!!!! help maddy
  25. didnt think anyone would be awake at this time....cheers for reply it happens with originals.....newly burnt home cd's....even burnt at 8spd thinking that might be the problem but still same.....only thing i havent tried is try another make of blank cd's.....i've also tried the cd lens cleaner i'm just gonna ring lexus stockport next week and tell em whats happening and hope they replace it for me....i'll be going there for a 50k service and new tyres anyway maddy
