  1. Having owned LSs for 22 of the last 25 years, I am considering downsizing to a RX450. Since changing to an iPhone X I cannot connect fully to my wife’s 2012 BMW X3 or my 2016 Porsche 991.2. Will a RX450h connect fully?
  2. I changed from a LS 430 to a 2009 LS 600hL some 4 years ago. I have always had extended warranties for my previous LS models (LS 400, LS 430 and now LS 600 over the last 21 years) but have rarely claimed anything. My warranty is due for renewal in June, having cost £1000 per year for the last 2 years. Yesterday I received the forms to renew the warranty and was amazed to see that the premium has now gone up to £1500 per year, a 50% increase over last year. This is a step too far and I will be cancelling this cover when it runs out and will probably start using a local reliable independent garage for routine work from now on.
  3. iPod part was: LPZ-473-00264-A0 I'll see if it is possible to try the work-around suggested by Wacko. Idon't care how I get it working, it just needs to work. Cheers
  4. Having owned an LS400 and an LS430 for 17 years, I was tempted away from the brand by a Range Rover Sport HSE. After 17 months I am now back to a 2009 LS600hL with which I am delighted apart from the integration with my phone and iPod. I paid £200 to have an iPod connection installed by the Lexus dealer in Southampton but am now being told by the Bradford dealership that the connection will basically charge my iPod Touch and little else. I am unable to control the player from the car and in fact I can control it better from the AUX input in the central glove box. To pay £200 for something that could be done by a £15 aftermarket power connection is ridiculous. The bigger problem is connecting to the iPohone (4S) Whilst it connects via the Blutooth and can receive and send calls, it doesn't load the phone directory so calls have to be initiated from the phone itself (not really handsfree!) it doesn't display the identity of incomming calls, it doesnt store recent numbers, etc., etc. All of these functions and more were abley performed by my Range Rover of exactly the same age. As the Range Rover is almost 1/2 the price of the LS600 I am very dissapointed. Surely the LS should be better than this. Otherwise I am happy with the LS which is an amazingly comfortable car and even coped with the recent snow thanks to the 4 wheel drile (unlike the LS400 and LS430 previously!). Any suggestions to improve the iPod/iPhone situation would be gratefully received.
  5. Thanks for the response. My dealer is being very helpful at present (as usual), however having now experienced the problem twice in a car less than 2 years old, my concerns are for the future. I also wondered if this was a problem others had experienced or if the sensor and alloy wheel "bubbling" is only caused by the weather in my area.
  6. Having owned an LS400 for almost 10 years prior to getting my LS430 in 2003 I am aware of the problems associated with Lexus alloy wheels in the UK. Because of the "bubbling" my first car had replacements at 3 years old and bead blasting at 5 years old. My new car has already had all 4 wheels replaced at 18 months old. I appear to now have a further problem with the British weather in that 9 months ago one of the front side parking sensors started to "bubble" on the surface. This progressed to the paint flaking off the entire centre of the sensor. What brought my attention to it was the random firing of the parking sensor display on the dash. The explanation given by my dealer was that I may have had a stone chip on the sensor which had broken the paint surface and allowed moisture in. They replaced the sensor however, with no charge. In the last month the front sensor started firing off occasionally for no apparent reason and on examination the sensor surface is devoid of paint and oxidised. Further examination of all the sensors shows that every one of the front ones are starting to bubble (including the one replaced months ago). The rear sensors appear to be ok. My question is: "is anyone else experiencing this problem or is it only my car?" If it is a general problem then I am concerned with what happens after the warranty runs out in 2006? I tend to enjoy my Lexuses (Lexi??) over many years but would not be happy to be replacing sensors at over £100 for each one - 6 on front bumper and 6 on back - (I am reliably informed that BMW & Merc ones are half this price) every few months. A further question is why haven't Lexus addressed the alloy wheels problem over the last 12 years? It seems so unlike the quality image they aspire to and otherwise deserve.
