  1. There's this guy selling an Aristo V300 on the Auto Trader website (the 1st car at £6950) who's had an Alpine GPS system installed. You can perhaps ask him? Here's the link: http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_...search_full.y=6 Naz
  2. Hi, I have some questions for the experts out there although these might sound a bit silly! Can one fit the following parts from Aristo Mk2 onto Mk1: Brake discs, pads and callipers, Suspension with Eibach lowering springs, Intercooler, Wheels, BOV, Oil filter, Engine strut brace? Also, do the turbos get used when you are driving at a steady speed of between 70 and 90 mph on the motorway? Cheers, Naz
  3. Hi Gaz If what you think is the case and the computer, not the amp, handles all the audio controls then I seriously feel there is hope and it probably will be straight forward. Time will tell and I'll keep you posted on the developments. In the meantime, thanks for everything and thanks also to Ahhhh_Aristo for his input. Cheers Naz
  4. Thanks for that mate. You've done well with the DVD thing. Unfortunately I am not as clued up as you about all this electronic stuff as far as cars go but am still going to give it a go (with a bit of help of course!). I agree the stock system is good as far as stock systems go but I just have this urge to F it all up and try something new!! If I was to stick with the original wiring and just change the speakers then it'll all be straight forward. But I envisage some problems when I attempt to upgrade from the stock amp whilst trying to retain the screen controls. What do you think? Cheers
  5. Hi Gaz You are right, it does seem to be a JBL setup and the amp is as you pointed out in the boot. I suspect it's the very bottom unit, is that right? Mine's the TV screen model (touch Screen). Would you be able to tell if a new system will run off the existing screen once you have the translation? I am hoping to upgrade all the speakers, amp, sub, put a capacitor and other bits in etc. Cheers
  6. Man that was quick!! Mine's a MK2. I have been told by an audio shop that you can't upgrade the sound system and still keep the factory touch screen and the CD changer. Thanks
  7. I know most people on this forum are more into mechanical upgrades and the V300 Vertex (1999) has a Mark Levinson sound system, but I thought I'll still try my luck! So here goes: 1. Is it possible to wire up a new amp and speakers with the existing head unit . 2. What size are the different speakers? I believe there are 8 as opposed to the commonly-mentioned 10. 3. Any idea where the amp actually is? Cheers
  8. Thanks for that mate. Does anyone have any info about my other query: "I have just been told that the whining noise could be due to the "sequential / changeover valve" and may be not the turbos themselves"? Regards
  9. Hi Thanks for that guys. I have just been told that the whining noise could be due to the "sequential / changeover valve" and may be not the turbos themselves. As I mentioned, the car has mainly done all motorway miles and is immaculate inside out, so the turbos should not have been hammered that much in principle. Paul (Norkep!), mine's a 1999 Aristo so I suppose a MK II. I have done about 4k miles since I bought it without any noticeable problems and with the same noise. How loud was the noise on yours? Mine is not very loud but noticeable nevertheless. Cheers! P.S. BTW how do you put an attachment on this forum?
  10. Hi All First of all, let me congratulate all the members for running such a helpful and informative forum. As you can tell I am new to the forum but have been a regular visitor for quite some time. It's great fun if you love Aristos!! A quick one if anyone can help? How easy is it to change the turbos on the Aristo? Mine are still ok but are making a whining noise after 2000 revs (its like an ambulance siren in the distance!) so I am thinking of changing them before they pack up on me. The car has done 100k miles (nearly all motorway). Cheers
