  1. hey, what kind of question is that?! paint the calipers in aztec-fire! ;) it's such a fine color for the IS. i'm sure you can go to a shop that sells paint in spray cans and ask them if they can get you two cans of paint with color code "Toyota 3N3" (aztec fire). two cans should be enough for 4 calipers. then also get one or two spray can of clear coat. and then paint your calipers. ;) it will work just fine. if you don't use your car on a race track, the paint will hold without any problems.
  2. no, it has a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. so the ecu uses a pressure signal instead of a MAF (mass air flow) signal for its calculations.
  3. the problem of it being oem or not is not the type of bulb, but the reflector. even if you plug-in a d2r bulb somehow, that would not make the whole thing more oem or legal because the reflector will remain the same. so you could even buy a normal hb4 HID kit and use that. you cannot really determine from the outside what type of HID bulb it is. without swapping the reflector, it won't be oem HID.
  4. well, basically, you could fit any wheel on any car as long as you get the correct PCD adapters and as long as your car has wide fenders. ;) e. g. SCC (www.spurverbreiterung.de) builds such adapters which, basically, are just spacers with two different PCD's. BUT ... the big problem is: these adapters/spacers increase, of course, the final offset. and the big Audi/BMW/... wheels, e. g., already have a large width and low offset, so even if you get the correct adapters, i'm sure the IS's fenders would not cover the wheels anymore. regarding the bore size, you can simply buy adapters on the net or, if you have the possibility, ask a buddy that can build you some using a lathe. sorry for my bad english!
  5. hey mate, the stainless dials are only metal plates put on top of the OEM dials, meaning the dials have cut outs for all the digits and symbols. like that, the OEM orange will just shine trough the cut outs, so no real change at night.
  6. but to get the HID headlights in you had to cut away some metal, right? otherwise the HID headlights won't really fit into the chassis of a halogen IS. well, HID headlights always come with an auto-leveling system, otherwise not street legal. here in germany, a headlight washing system is also mandatory. don't know if it's the same with you in the UK. so: know what you're doing. ;) in my opinion, you have two choices: 1. to get the auto-leveling system to work, you would have to get the leveling sensors for the front and rear axle, the auto-leveling ecu and some connectors (e. g. the 6-pin-connectors for the leveling motors/actuators on the headlights) and harnesses (or do the wiring yourself). this is all very expensive and a lot of work. 2. try to swap the motors/actuators from your halogen headlights, like this you can continue to use your manual halogen leveling. i'm not 100% sure that this motor swap will work, you would have to check if the position and angle the motors are plugged into the headlights are the same on HID and halogen. the motors have metal rods with some kind of ball at the tip. this tip is plugged into the reflector - like this, the motor can move the reflector. on the HID headlights, you can get to to the motor rod tip to pop it out through the low-beam opening. i don't know if that is also possible on the halogen headlights. perhaps by temporarily removing the low beam rubber seal to get in.
  7. hey guys, we have a thread about the silver ecu in our euro forums, look here: http://euro.lexusownersclub.com/forums/ind...=26&t=13880 it contains scans/pictures of the original tte manual which shows how to connect the ecu. it also contains a picture showing the engine ecu plugs, so you can find the pins within the plugs.
  8. didn't think that there is such a science behind the tte screw solution?! :D
  9. hey folks, the black IS above was once owned by two members of the EURO-LOC and then again sold (as i remember correctly). it has the Savage bumper on it - it's a complete bumper made from fiber glass. i don't really know if the company Savage still exists, but what i know is that Pakfeifer, an Austrian bodykit company, has taken over their products and now sells them: CLICK HERE but be careful: the pakfeifer products are not really the best. so i don't know if the parts of this Savage bodykit still have the same quality as before.
  10. hi guys, a member of the euro forums has put them on his aztec fire IS. that's how it looks: http://euro.lexusownersclub.com/forums/upl...87518_thumb.jpg well, not totally ugly, of course, but it takes aways the unique look of the xe1 rear. also, as you may see, the red portion of the lights is a little darker than the fog rear lights. the red is more like a cherry red. regarding quality: it's not that bad and so far he has no problems like soaking water or something.
  11. hi, yes, the indicators of the new (current) IS and the facelifted SC look fantastic. nice "thin" elliptic shape ... but that's also the problem: they won't fit without modifying the fender, because the hole's too big. the new indicators won't cover the hole. :(
  12. hi, those smoked side indicators are also available in a clear version. but be careful! had them on my IS ... very poor quality. well, at least exactly the ones i bought. ;) their seal was not very good, "soaked" water. maybe not every set of these is like the same - so perhaps just try them out. ;) i don't know if there's a UK auction for the clear ones, but here's a german auction for the clear indicators: HERE but the best deal is to get the OEM clear indicators from the "old" LS. they have the exact same shape like the IS200/300/altezza ones, so fit perfectly. their outer glass is clear (not milky) and they don't have this orange lense inside. instead, they have a chrome "cap" that covers the orange bulb, so you cannot see it from the outside. but a little orange shine stays. so just use silvered oder chromed bulbs. those cheap chromed bulbs you can get on ebay etc. are crap. the chrome layer is so strong so that a lot of light gets lost. here in germany, there's a company selling this product: HERE perfect bulbs - silver (so no orange reflection in the indicators) and E-signed, so totally street legal. the silver coat is just strong enough so that there's no orange shine, but not too strong, so they still emit enough light. i've been using them for years now.
  13. you should have read what tigerfish wrote above. :( i don't think that a complete new caliper was necessary. not the caliper itself seizes, but one or both pistons in it. so getting one or two new pistons and new gaskets (as i remember correctly lexus/toyota offers a brake-caliper-piston-repair-set with all new gaskets) should have done it for much less money. seizing pistons is a common problem with the IS/GS front brakes. sometimes the gaskets get leaky, so water and dirt can penetrate the piston and its "hole" where it moves so it corrodes what makes it seize. carefully sanding the corroded piston and caliper-"tunnel" where it moves could have done it. next time, read the posts carefully here to save money! you don't have to repair such things yourself, but state to the shop what exactly you want to get changed/repaired! ;) the LOC often is a way to save money.
  14. hello, don't you think this wood finish is just glued on? like a sticker... perhaps the wood finish can be removed and then you have the default silver one?
