  1. Be careful though as I have a second hand IS200 and the previous wasn't very good at parking. As a result there is some kerbing damage to the rims and even though they are corroded my local dealer won't touch them. Gutted as I spend all my time polsihing the damn thing as a good advert for the vehicle and the rims let it down badly.
  2. :) Hi Rez, Welcome to the club. I suggest you click on the TDI advert at the bottom of the page. They have a good, easy to follow website and the main man, Mark, has close links with the Owners Club. :tumble: Enjoy
  3. My car is second hand and over two years old. I took it into the dealers recently and reported, amongst other things, that the alloys were corroded. The mechanic said "No Problem! We will get another set ordered and swap them" Unfortunately when I returned to pick it up at the end of the day the Service Manager had noticed they had been kerbed and had stopped them being swapped whilst he sought clarification from Lexus HQ as to whether they would be accepted back to reburshment. :sniff: Waiting to hear the verdict.
  4. Sorry about that Claire. No offence meant. I just got carried away with my good luck and great choice of car. Still chuffed:tumble::tumble::tumble::tumble:
  5. I was reading a thread a couple of weeks ago and someone asked what to look for when checking a second hand car. Being the proud owner of a 2000 I "pricked up my ears" One of you clever types noted that the 99/00 model should have the shocks and brake disks checked. I mentioned this when I took it into my dealers for a new key and they fitted a brand new set of brake disks all round. Not only that but they noticed I had a set of Eibach sports springs and so when they were fitting new shocks they fitted sport versions:smilegrin::smilegrin::smilegrin: Now I didn't know there was a difference but I am chuffed at having all these new goodies for free. What a result. Thanks lads :D:D:D:D:D
  6. :(Stop it guys; you are making me feel inadequate. I am starting to think I ought to visit my friendly bank manager and get a suitcase full of the folding stuff down to Mark at TDI
  7. Sorry I ought to make that clearer. They do a wood trim kit and they also do a carbon fibre trim kit. What a strange looking kit a wood AND fibre kit would be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:o:lol:
  8. I noticed in my local Halfords recently that they do a wood and carbon fibre trim kit for the IS200 but I guess you want the real thing?????
  9. That's very worrrying. My car has 53k on the clock and so I am looking forward to a 60K service soon. I shall have to start saving. £530 seems a little steep though:wow: I did look at the service manual and noticed that at 60K is a major service. The cam belt needs changing and I am not sure quite what is involved in stripping that out. Was the bill itemised. If the MOT was £40 + £100 parts that means that labor was £390:?:
  10. Rodders, I haven't posted a dealer review yet but I do intend to when the whole affair is over. That way I reckon I can give a balanced view of the whole event.
  11. Rodders, Lexus Dorset are the ones having problems getting my key. They seem to have one helpful person there who has promised me a replacement set of rims (corrosion) and he reckons they will sort out my rusty brake disks as well when I take it in next week Hoping he'll stick to his word
  12. :saint: I came out of a restaurant last night and found a group of people stood around my car. I thought someone had bumped into it or smashed a window but it turns out they were just admiring it!:smug: This is a new phenomenom for me. I have never owned a car that people admire before. It was looking particularly shiny after having all its dents removed and paint protection applied though.:D:D Chuffed!!!!!!!
  13. :(I have had problems with my dealer. I got my car second hand and it only came with one key. Ordered another but that was two months ago and I have to keep chasing the dealer. They don't seem to like ringing me to let me know what's going on. :?: Apparently keys have to come from Germany and they have received two incorrect items. Now awaiting the third!!!!!!!!!! I am keeping my fingers crossed!
  14. :D:D:D Google for me too! I was searching for IS tuning and bodykits. Thank the Lord I found this site as it has been Godsend (Blimey I seem to be getting all religious):wow::smug:
  15. Hi Guys, I have to admit that I was disappointed with the car after my first test drive. That was almost two years ago but the all round package that the car offered meant that it was still ideal for me and eventually, after about 18 months, I had to get one. The main complaint I had was that when I drove a Sport model at the dealers it's performance didn't impress me at all. Since getting my second hand SE though I have to eat my words. I can only presume that the brand new models are need loosening up!! Any way I am very happy now. The IS200 has all the things I want in a car as standard and the look of it still makes me feel a good.
  16. I have suffered a similar annoying noise from the passenger seat which seemed to be cured if you pushed down in the middle of it. Howver it seems to have been cured by taking my fat friend for a spin. Since he sat in it for a day trip I can't remember hearing the noise again........:bounce: I think it just needed it the springs stretching a little :smug:
  17. If the pond of water gets any deeper I'll be issuing fishing licences for it:lol: "Mobile fishing lakes! A new business opportunity!"
  18. The sniffer technology sounds very professional. My mechanic mate took the lining out of the boot and shut himself inside it whilst water was sprayed on the car to find the leak. Old school stylee I'll book it into a dealers to get it checked. I hope they have a sniffer device otherwise the pool may turn into a lake!!!!!
  19. So whilst checking my boot the other day I noticed that I appear to have a built in swimming pool in the rear off side well. :o I got a mechanic friend to take a look and he reckons the water is coming in somewhere half way up the rear window but the aren't any tears or rips etc in the window rubber. He also said that due to the colour of the water and the marks on the inside of the rear panel it has been leaking for a while Has anyone else suffered this problem and what do you reckon the situation will be regarding a warranty repair :?::?:
  20. Thanks for the reply guys, The PI springs are about £100 as opposed to the Eibachs at £160 :D I am happy with the current ride quality and didn't want to firm it up much as I can't imagine swinging the car around a lot unless it is at the track day I've seen mentioned on other threads.
  21. Guys, I notice a lot of the regulars have Eibach or Jamex lowering springs but has anybody heard of or had experience of PI lowering springs. Eibach seem to lower the car -30mm and the PI springs I have been offered are marked as -35mm. Not that 5mm will make much of a differnce:lol: What do you all think.??? Should I try the PI's or play safe with the Eibachs??:?:
  22. Hi Ramman, Welcome to the club. I have been using Tcut Colourmagic on my black IS but then when I bought my car it was second hand and the paintwork was lightly scratched and dull due to the effects of too many car washes. Colourmagic brought it up really well but AutoGlym will help keep it shiny. I'll be back out polishing for the weekend. Beleive me it is worth it though!:smilegrin::smilegrin:
  23. Hi Unlucky, Try this site for bodykits http://www.v-spec-developments.com/body_kits.htm and try TDI Plc for suspension kits. They do springs that drop -30mm or a full kit that drops up to -50mm http://www.tdi-plc.com/is200.html
  24. Vic, I mentioned that I was being offered cars with 70K - 80K+ when I was looking for a used IS200 recently. I have now bought a W(2000) model with 50K on the clock and it seems to be fine. In fact it seems to perform a little better than the brand new model I test drove when I was considering my first purchase.
  25. Just wanted to say how good it is to see a supplier such as TDI PLC taking such an active part in this website. Keep up the good work forging beneficial relationships fellaS:D
