  1. Thanks yes I’m hoping it’s relatively simple. Still outraged that there is an issue with it - car is ‘only’ 21 yrs old!
  2. Thanks Malc I don’t disagree. Car is booked in anyway for an inspection- will be interesting to see what they come up with.
  3. A few weeks ago on one of the first warmish days of the year I noticed the air con was not as cold as usual. Had a regas done which improved things dramatically but noticed again yesterday at 17c outside that I was back to square one and even on MAX cold setting it was only cool (ish). i have the old girl booked in for a general inspection at Lexus Hull on Friday as I was curious as to generally what they make of the condition of key components given the vehicle has not been near a Lexus dealer for quite a few years. I will ask them to look at the air con issue but wondered if anyone had experience of issues and what the problem was and how expensive it was to fix. I'm slowly coming to a point in which I may move the car on for something newer and obviously if the air con issue and anything the dealer finds makes it a viable proposition to keep or sell. I am aware the dealer is likely to come up with a lengthy list! Thanks in advance
  4. Thanks - when I was originally looking I was open to most price ranges but erring towards a galactic mileage example at around the £8-10k mark - my LS400 is around the 270k mark and I’m not too precious about the mileage.
  5. Thanks Graham, I suspect yours might be out if my price range, just found out my job has disappeared so waiting on some restructure announcements to see if I can keep on working or whether I take a very early retirement. I do quite like the idea of selling my LS400 and cashing in my 911 and replacing them with a 600h and an SC430 but probably best to wait until the job situation is resolved, my wife is already panicking at the thought of me potentially retiring at 50!
  6. Thanks for your feedback- sounds really positive, let me know if you are planning to sell at any point in the future, if the timings right then I may be interested - definitely a car I want to own at some point- my kids love the idea of the RSR pack!
  7. Nothing wrong with a mid life crisis as my wife is happy to remind me every time she sees me roof off in the 911! I think that's a great stable you have there and I'm still hoping to own both of those at some point plus a 600h and then an LC, hoping I live long enough and have enough money to do all that! Enjoy
  8. Looks beautiful - bit different to your 600h - what was the reason for the change?
  9. Thanks all, Graham, Jonathan, those are ringing endorsements and very meaningful considering you have made the switch. I guess I need to test one soon and hopefully I will concur with your feedback. Thanks again. Nick
  10. Well done, same year and colour as mine, bought mine as a one year 'experiment' but that was about 16,years ago now and still got it - great cars - enjoy!
  11. The 40k tax rule is a fairly recent thing which won’t affect you if the car is pre April 2017
  12. Hi - we bought a 2011 Rx450h in 2014 when it had 72k on the clock - ex co car fully maintained etc. 5 years on we have added 50k miles, car has been serviced each year at Lexus - total cost £3870 which included the big 100k service, all tyres and discs/pads too. The only spend outside of service and tyres/ brakes has been two new shock absorbers which is included in the total figures I have mentioned. I never worry about the hybrid battery - all healthchecks have been fine on it. It's a great car, my wife loves it and she wants to keep it forever, I have a 20 year old LS400 with almost 300k on the clock and I believe the RX will still be in our household at the same age/mileage. I don't think you will regret purchasing one.
  13. They chose that colour to “stand out” apparently. Rayaans yes saw the red RCF and the blue LC that was sold - both looked very nice. Think I’d take the blue over the yellow - I didn’t take much notice of the interior as I was too busy making sure I didn’t damage the exterior during the drive.
  14. Lovely blast today in this, different to my 911 but in a good way, the sound on start up was magnificent. Wasn’t sure on the colour but even that started to grow on me. Lexus Hull as friendly and helpful as ever.
  15. Did my MK IV LS a couple of years ago with the autoglym kit and it was transformational - now they are awful again and feel very dangerous on unlit roads. Will do them again but have noted the comments about the importance of a good uv top coating - any recommendations? Thanks
  16. I understand your pain having previously sold two ISFs, I think sellers remorse is quite a common feeling with these great cars. Enjoy your Audi - give it a while and I'm sure you will be back 😀
  17. I didn't think there was much in it re the pricing at Porsche compared to my previous ISFs e.g. Front discs and pads c£1000 for 911 which IIRC was similar to ISF and the other serviceable items did not see a load more than Lexus prices. As @B1 RMA has said, it's the reliability in the Lexus that gives me more confidence and the way the dealer deals with the initial booking and follow through is miles better in my personal experience at Lexus than it is at Porsche, also I know it is subjective, but the people at Lexus seem nicer too and I much prefer handing over my money when the experience has been smooth and professional as opposed to clunky and lacking genuine care for the customer.
  18. Not always the case, first time my 911 was in I got a fabulous V8 Cayenne with about 400 miles on the clock, more recently I got a Mini diesel. My wife's RX is due in Feb 2019 for a service and I will be requesting the LC as the courtesy car on the basis it's very much a potential replacement for my Porker. Even when the cars are more special from Porsche, the service most definitely is not up to Lexus standards.
  19. Depends on your definition of servicing - any service generally looks cheap in comparison to overall bill if ‘consumables’ also need replacing. I anticipate that the next one in two years time will be significantly cheaper - perhaps just a few hundred pounds. That said if you want the warranty you have to have the car serviced by dealer and all items must be Porsche OEM and if you want the warranty renewing you have to have the 111 point check done each time and they replace and pay for any warrantable items whilst you pay for anything else they say needs replacing to qualify for the warranty. For £1800 you get two years warranty - think it’s around £1050 for one year.
  20. Well done great purchase, great car, I bought mine (1998) in 2003 as a one year 'experiment' - fast forward 15 years and it is still going strong and drives beautifully, sounds like you have a keeper so make sure you keep her!
  21. Agree - ours is 2011 model with standard alloys (19s) approx 120k and is washed about twice a year and no corrosion at all in the wheels.
  22. There were no ceramics involved, just regular front discs and pads - an extra £1060 which bumped up the price, looking at the paperwork their min acceptable disc thickness is 32mm and mine were 31.8mm. Also exhaust heatshields replaced as apparently corroded and insecure £500 and also due a 6 year PDK oil change £400, then of course the 111 point check for the warranty £180 plus the warranty itself - £1840 so it soon adds up. Car was in for almost 3 weeks - no big issue as I was away for part of that. They did leave me a nice courtesy car though - Mini Clubman diesel!
