  1. Hmmmmmmmmm! now I'm even more determined to sort this. THnx Tigerfish - I think! lol :duh: I've just had another look and think my problem may have been the pipe not being completely smooth. I'm going to try again in the morning.
  2. I tried putting a piece of flexible pipe OVER the leak (without cutting the pipe), with Jubilees either end, but fluid still leaked :tsktsk: in fact it was worse as rather than a small trickle pointing down at the road, the fluid now sprays everywhere. I am not convinced that if I cut the pipe it will get any better, but thanks for the idea.
  3. Hi All, few days ago my Power assisted steering pipe developed a pin hole and leaked out all the fluid . Luckily I was parking the car at the time and so did not drive. My dilemma now seems to be can i get this pipe repaired (it's the long metal one that goes along the front of the radiator) or where can I get a CHEAP replacement. The reason I say cheap is that I have found one in the USA for $534, but I begrudge paying this kind of money for a small pinhole in a piece of pipe. Everyone person i ask tells me it cannot be repaired, but surely this cannot be true, plumbers, engineers etc work with and no doubt repair metal pipes daily. Any help or advice would be most welcome?
  4. Lexus is set to reach out to its customers in a more personal way this year. Selected Lexus cars for 2009 will come installed with a new system called "Lexus Insider", a part of the Enform Gadget Package. The system will be used to convey voice messages from the company to the vehicles, like tips and suggestions, but Lexus has decided to leave any marketing related messages out for now. Full Story/Pics Here
  5. Checkout this Swarovski Encrusted Lexus SC430 The Car features more than 300,000 Crystals covering the car's hood, trunk, license plate, and even wheel rims, forming roses, hearts, ribbons, and lots of general over-the-top girliness to symbolize the beauty of marriage The Full Story including more pics is here Swarovski Lexus SC430
  6. Hi Guys, (& Gals of course), Got a strange one for you, my alarm will not set although the central locking does? here's the sequence... 1st Press on fob = Doors Lock & indicators flash (single) - AS NORMAL 2nd Press on Fob = Doors Re-lock, but no indicator flash (normally this is 5 flashes) Now if I set off the alarm by opening the doors, boot or bonnet, just the horn sounds (normally it's both horn & alarm sounder), also I cannot trigger the alarm by moving around in the car (Microwave sensor). I presume there is an alarm problem and what I'm left with is a sort of fallback or backup system. Does the alarm have a fuse, i have checked under bonnet but it's not labeled in the fuse box. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks in advance Nigel
  7. Hi all, Finally got round to completing the install. Once I got the glove box out (thanks Rodders!) it was a doddle. All the connections at the rear of the amp are exposed and it was a simple matter of working out the connections from the wiring diagram (Thanks Rodders AGAIN :P ). I mounted the Black box on the body to the left hand side of the glove box with sticky pads and took all connections from the amp, including the mute - there is a nice little space there that accomdated the box and all the cables and still left room to put the glove box back in place :D I ran the phone cable (to cradle) behind the glove box and into the centre console. After removing the ashtray it was simply a matter of pulling the cable through and putting everything back. The only problem I did initially encounter was humming/interferance when using the phone, but I added a few RF coils to the speaker & mic cables (the type that come on lots of electrical power supplies these days - laptops, printers, USB cable etc.) ...and hey presto, no more interference. The system works like a dream, is crystal clear and the echo cancellation works great. Friends say they can't tell I'm on a Car Kit so big thumbs up! Whole job from start to finish took approx 3 hours with several coffee breaks. Thanks to all the people who mailed me advice and a special thanks to Rodders without who's expert knowledge I would have been seriously up a certain stretch of water without a certain impliment CHEERS!!! :P :P :P
  8. OK got my car kit, got the panel off under glovebox, but cannot get at the amp??? I presume it is the unit with the large heatsink on the left side of the passenger footwell (by the fuse box). Do I need to get at the back of the amp or can I wire the mute pin cable to the hi-fi instead? If not is there an easier way to get at the amp...does the clovebox come out easily and can i get acces by doing this? Currently stuck outside in the rain and frustrated, heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp Cheers Nigel
  9. Hi all, Is this the same on the GS300 (98) and should I connect the mutecable (from car kit) to the pin on the radio or the amp (hope its not the amp its very hard to get at!) Thanks Guys Nigel
  10. Hi All, I am about to purchase an in-car mobile system for my GS, probably either the Sony Ericsson HCA-20 or HCA-200. I am choosing a wired system over bluetooth as the SE P900 has legendary bad bluetooth. Whilst I am more than happy to do the installation myself, I wish to do a decent job of it, I therefore have a few questions I was hoping fellow members could answer. 1. Where is the best location for mounting the black box? 2. Where is the best place to source the 12v connections from in the GS & can I get a Plug that will suit rather than "spuring" into existing wires? 3. I know about the problems of not being able to route the sound through the hi-fi and will be using a seperate speaker, but how do I get access to the mute cable on the hi-fi (and which one is it)? 4. What is the best method/location of attaching the phone holder. I obviously do not want to be screwing into the console etc., so where??? Finally is there anyone out there who has this actual system installed in a Lexus who can give me the benefit of their experiences with the system, pros/cons etc. Thanks in antisipation of your assistance, Nigel
  11. I've got similar probs on same model/year, however I occasionally get the parking brake light coming on whilst applying the brakes. Is this light also a brake pad wear indicator?
  12. Umm, how do you do this on a GS ?, and how do I actually know if it's on? more to the point what does overdrive actually do?
  13. OMG! Dream come true, spend all day Waxing Bikini Lines (select client's of course!!!), and then spending the rest of the day driving around in me 911. Hmmmm sound pretty good to me, but maybe I'm just living in my own little world? :duh:
  14. I seem to recall seeing it too a while back, seems that 800hp is not a big enough selling point to justify the £15k
  15. Guess they like to watch movies whilst driving, TV overkill or what :duh: Love the wheels on the 1st car tho, i think gold wheels would lok very nice with my green paintwork :)
  16. Is it possible to conver or buy a kit to get this on a MKII, as I always fold my mirrors in and this would save me running round to the passenger side every time?
  17. I've noticed the last couple of day when I insert the key into the ignition and the steering column moves into place it squeeks, well more of a screech really. It's only when moving in the up/down plane not in/out. Is this common, Do I need to be worried and can I rectify it e.g. remove covering and re-grease perhaps? Doesn't always do it, not sure maybe only in hot weather, will monitor - maybe metal expansion?
  18. Just went and sat in mine with the alram on and after the obligatory 30 seconds I waved (Technical term), my arms and the alarm did go off. tried this several times using as little movement as possible and each time it went off, tried with sensors turned off and hey presto no alarm activation Hope this SCIENTIFIC research clarifies it for you :P
  19. Grats on the new LS :D I'm not 100% sure on the LS but if it's like my GS it's the elctronic throttle, that adapts to your driving style, i.e. it's not necessarily how far you put your foot down, but what your driving style is like. If you regarly "floor it" then I find the throttle is very responsive, however when I've been plodding along on motorways etc for some time it tends to take a little longer to get going. I'm sure someone with more knowlege will be along shortly to advise you of this in a more technical manner. BTW enjoy! :D
  20. Love it when a dream comes true, nice one Niraj! Congratulations. :D
  21. Bluetooth on SE phones seems to be model specific. I have P900 that has notoriously bad bluetooth and a p910 which is the complete opposite. My wife K700i work without a hitch too. Worth checking the exact model you're considering. :)
  22. Not decided whether to come along or not yet, but I personally prefer be camped CLOSE to my car, convenient for getting stuff like tent etc and I also like to be able to see my car, not sure what securitty is like at these events but things like camera's etc belong in the boot, being able to see my boot is a bonus just my 2p
  23. Not read the thread but, A Public apology - Nice one, my respect to you for it :D , besides if your Welsh your definetely OK by me :P Good Luck with your new name & fresh start m8
