  2. Hey, I'll just start off saying I've never had or been in a car with heated seats but since acquiring the IS200 I find the heated seats to be a little finicky, although maybe this is how they work (Though I doubt it) So if I start the car and push in the button to turn on the heated seat sometimes it will come on and I can noticeably feel the heat and other times it seems like its not heating at all. Then some way through a drive I will feel it get really warm to a level I would expect them to work at and it will stay this warm for a few minutes then seemingly switch off. The passenger seat works in the same manner so I'm unsure if this is normal or a fault? Appreciate any input on this, Thanks.
  3. It was hard work, but very satisfying. :) Whilst I normally give my car a quick wash every week to keep it "clean", I hadn't made the effort to clean it properly for probably around a year, and it was really showing. The paintwork was pretty lifeless and rough to the touch, and the bottom half was especially bad since it was saturated with hundreds of tar spots and other bits of embedded grime. The interior also hadn't been touched in ages, but wasn't too bad compared to the exterior. So, this weekend, and last, I took advantage of the nice weather to try and get my car spotless again and finally use some of the AutoGlym products I had been amassing thanks to Halfords' 3 for 2 offers. Last weekend was when most of the hard work was done. The car was washed and vacuumed, then dried before I set about removing all the tar deposits. The car was then clayed, and treated to a course of Super Resin Polish. I also done the alloys and dressed the tyres. That was where I left things though as it looked like it might start raining. Plus, I was getting pretty tired of all that rubbing and polishing. Fast-forward to this weekend, and the car was washed and dried once more. At this point I noticed how dull and faded the black paint on my door frames were, so I rejuvenated those with AG Paint Renovator then treated the car to another layer of SRP, before finishing the job with High Definition Wax to seal in the shine. Rubbers, plastics and glass were also done to complete the look, plus the wheels and tyres once again. A quick pass of the interior and engine bay followed, with the main task being to clean and condition the leather seats. No pics of this I'm afraid, or before, or during shots of any of the work I done. Just these few snaps taken in early morning sunshine which doesn't really show the deep shine very well. In person, the car looks tremendous and I'll be trying to keep it that way. Maybe even use this topic as a cleaning log of sorts...I'll make sure I take better pictures next time though. 6. Hi all, In the next 12 months I hope to get a low mileage IS200 Sport, manual transmission for under £5000. I joined the forum to try and learn as much as I can before I commit to buying one. I've already read the buyer's guide, I just need some ideas on what is possible with them in terms of tuning, interior and sound etc. Cheers, Jake

  8. Hey guys, Name's Michael, 27 years old. Born, raised and living a wonderful life in the Netherlands. I bought a black 2002 IS200 in October and I love it! Such a comfortable and good looking car. Had a Celica GT FOUR (ST205) before this and a Supra MKIV (n/a automatic) before that but wanted something decent. I bought a set of Varrstoen wheels but I haven't mounted them yet. Kinda looking for a decent set of coilovers or springs first. If anyone knows some for sale I'd love to check them out. The car's going in for a custom exhaust at the end of this month, so I'll get some pics/videos of that too. Anyways, hope to learn some new stuff here, looks like an awesome place to get started with my Lexus! -Michael

  11. Hello everyone! My name is Charles, I'm 18 and from Hertfordshire. Currently, I don't actually own a Lexus but I am looking to buy a 2004ish manual IS200. Looking forward to owning my first Lexus! :) Any tips and hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi, I'm a new-ish member and completely new to this forum lark but I need to try something!! I have an '99 IS200 sport. I have gained a really bad squeak from the n/s Rear Wheel. I am a bit of a DIY guy and have spent years doing my own repairs etc... It seems that the ball joint on the upper wishbone is at fault as the rubber gaiter sealing the ball joint is split and, after forcing some light oil into the ball joint, the noise went away for a few days. What I need to know is where the hell can I get a new rear wishbone from?? Is it the same part number as the front upper wishbones? If so then would the ball joints for the front upper wishbones also fit the rear upper wishbones? You can purchase front upper wishbone ball joints from eBay relatively cheap and, with the use of a press, are relatively easy to replace. I cannot find part numbers or any reference to these parts in spare part retailers. Can someone please help me as it is really embarrassing driving down the road in my beloved Lexus and instead of people hearing the roar of my 6 cylinders they hear something that resembles my bed after a Saturday night on the pull. Thanks in advance for any help anybody can offer me.
  13. Hi, Does any body knows what bulbs are required for the heater control dials? Also how easy is it to get at them, I think it is radio out and go from there.
  14. Hi, I've owned my IS200 for about 7 years, it's a 2001 x-reg with just under 105,000 on the clock. My wife is a bit scared to drive it after a couple of bad skids on ice (rear-wheel drive culpable, I think) but I still love it. However, I've recently thought I should p/x and buy a small used diesel like a Peugeot 206 to cut fuel bills. On reflection though, I thought I could maybe keep the IS and add an LPG system. I plan to emigrate in about 5 years time so I really only need the car (our second car - we have a bigger family car) to do about 50,000 more miles; my only worry is that it might have some major (expensive) problems in the next 50K? With its 100K service due (cam belt) and the LPG installation I'll be sinking roughly 2000 into the car which is less than buying a much newer Peugeot but if it has any major problems I don't want to keep pouring money into the IS when it's not worth any resale... Do you know of any common problems with the IS between 100K and 150K (or even 200K) miles? Does anyone have one that's been successfully converted to LPG? Thus far (touch wood!) I've not had any serious problems. It needs some reconditioned alloys and has been through lots of tires and twice has had problems starting (plus my key's snapped) but otherwise it's been bullet-proof. Any advice?? Thanks, Ben

I'm after a towbar for a lexus is200. If anyone has one that they no longer use, please get in touch.
  16. Hello! I've been driving my IS200 for a while now, and I would like to boost its performance a bit. I've read about the TTE Supercharger and I know it is quite rare, but if anyone's got one for sale, or know somebody who wants to sell his/hers, let me know! If it's for the right price I am really interested! Best regards!
  17. Hi All, this is my first post. I am the new owner of a lovely but quite well travelled 2001 IS200. She has 108k on the clock and drives beautifully. I have just driven out my first full tank. from 59L I did 349 miles. That is about 26mpg, In my experience Jap NA engines usually score close to their official specs. I was hoping for 29mpg or a bit more. Do you have any tips based on experience of IS200 that are drinkier than usual? My car has a FSH and has only ever visited 2 garages. She is almost due her next service. I thank you for your constructive input. Matt PS: Please no snarky "Buy a diesel remarks" I am a petrol head, I just don't want my car performing worse than it should be.
