  1. I've been buying this occasionally for years and use it in my IS250. It frequently goes on sale in Tesco for £2 and that's when I'll pick up a bottle. With my latest purchase however, I noticed that its now comes in a new style bottle with an extra claim on the label - that it protects against corrosion from E10 petrol. Intrigued by this, I done a bit of googling and found a reply attributed to the manufacturer (Holts), when queried whether this can make E10 petrol "safe" for an older car. "If you have a car that is not compatible with E10 fuel then our Petrol System Cleaner will make the petrol compatible by protecting against potential corrosion from the higher ethanol content." There are other products on the market which do exactly this (make E10 safe for incompatible vehicles), but they are way more expensive than Redex. Especially when a bottle does 2 tankfuls. Food for thought if you have a 2005-2007 car? 🤔
  2. I probably won't be the first or last to ask this, but would people be interested in signing a petition to ban ethanol in all UK petroleum fuel products? We're told that introducing E10/E5 ethanol into our fuel is better for the environment, but once you actually look into the production and simple logistics the entire argument gets blown out the water; not only is it less efficient meaning I'm actually getting worse economy so I'm literally burning more fuel but people like myself are forced to pay a premium for E5 fuels as they have no other option. I think this sort of thing needs nipping in the bud before the nanny state and their friends turn up bioethanol production to 11, so they can create propaganda telling us the industry is on its back legs and can then subsequently force us into an E10/15/20... nation. All things in life should be about choice, so I'm just wondering is this something we can actually get moving or will it be a bust that will sit at 10 supporters? I fear that one day we will be forced in to this without any say, which we already have done with E10. If we don' do something now we won't be able to make any changes in the future. As an owner of a classic motorcycle it scares me that there may come a day when I can't even get fuel for my motor, because some back bencher is making us all switch to a useless fuel standard to make a quick buck. I've created the petiton below if anyone is interested. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/604051/sponsors/new?token=mopvmjCmKfCd0JhiNGp6

  4. Hi recently put a turbo in my lexus is200, Td05 full set up with fuel regulator, upgraded fuel pump with return line, 1zz injectors, sump etc. car was fuel cutting every time hitting boost (.5 boost). Tried 4 different fuel cut defenders and piggy back ecu and nothing worked. Changed all spark plugs, coil packs, throttle body, ecu everything and still fuel cutting. I also put standard injectors and fuel pump back in and still fuel cutting. Anyone able to help me out? When disconnect the pipe from throttle body and run car without turbo its perfect but when connect pipe back up issue starts again. Thanks
  5. Re the new e10 I was forced to put in my car last week (as v power ran out at all shells) I put in new e10 fuel since Monday and been driving up to Thursday 14 miles a day and my fuel gauge barely moved not even one bar gone yet so I’m thinking it lasting a lot longer then old e5 fuel probably what they had in mind Re eco credentials? I will go back to my v power fuel when empty though.
  6. As per title question! As most of us I presume use VPower or its equivalent super unleaded. Do any of you use fuel additives too? Which one do you use? How often do you use it and what benefits have you noticed from using it? Many thanks 👍
  7. Is200 engine running 100% one day cut out after turning corner, and wouldn’t start. Engine starts now and is running but idling high, idling up and down between 4000rpm and 2000rpm when started and is over fueling. No codes are showing up or lights anyone had this problem ? Or solution ?
  8. Hi all Had the lovely Check VSC warning come up a few times recently but cleared it by disconnecting the battery to see if it was just spurious. It wasn't and returned after 2 days each time. I bought the Techstream kit from eBay (TaggyTech, excellent) and ran a test this morning. Only one fault code, P0172, system too rich Bank 1. I can make adjustments to all kinds of things using Techstream but what should I be looking at first? On my old cars I'd have been using a Colourtune and screwdriver! Please see attached pic from laptop. Regards to all.
  9. Hi, I'm looking to buy a GS430 2005. What's your city/motorway MPG? I'm light footed most of the time with occasional tendency to speed a bit. Nothing extravagant tho. What's the best and worst you get around city and long cruise?
  10. Ive had my GS250 for a few months now and covered 5000 miles. I've only ever filled up with Shell Vpower. I usually have the "after refill" MPG in the 28-29 range by the time I've used a full tank. This is with motorway driving accounting for 10% or so of the mileage. A few days ago I filed up with a tank of tesco standard unleaded and straight away struggled to get the after refill mpg into the 26's mpg and just managed 27.1 mpg after 15 miles of relaxed motorway driving (65-70 mph). I'll see how it goes but so far the extra expense of Vpower pays for itself with better mpg. Ive never seen such difference between vpower and standard unleaded before including on my IS250.
  11. Where is the fuse for the fuel pump located, is it under the dash or in the engine bay?
  12. Is it worth filling IS300H with premium fuel such as Shell V power, Tesco Momentum etc ?
  13. In Ireland, we are now only being contacted for a recall to replace a Gasket and Fuel Delivery Pipe. I know that this was dealt with some time ago in the UK and USA. I drive a2008 IS250, and I have had to replace both pre-cat Air Fuel Sensors; and I was wondering if the failure of these sensors could in any way be related to the problem that is behind the recall?
  14. Hi, I just had my IS in for a service and the garage (pretty decent and also have a good rep) were unable to change my fuel filter, they said that probably only lexus would be able to do it, is this right? Cheers
  15. Hello folks, For the last 3 days, if I park my car on a *slight* incline (front wheels up, no more than 3°) the engine turns over for say 5~6 seconds until it starts. On flat or front wheels down = Starts fine. Parked in same place for nearly 2 weeks now, only started a few days ago. So I'm thinking there's a pipe a little loose / connector leaking slowly between the tank and the engine... Will hopefully have time to pop head underneath on Sunday afternoon - Will do some hunting on where the fuel gets to the engine / location of stuff, but has anyone had this before? Know where to look? Thanks :)
  16. Hi all, just wondering how much it costs to fill up on an is 250 as am looking to buy one and worried about fuel consumption. Cheers John.
  17. Hello, I have a problem with my Lexus IS220d 2006 for more than 1 month, I don't have enough fuel pressure to start the engine, I suppose to have 550 bar but I have just 50-65 bar. I sent to check the injectors and the fuel pressure pump, they told me that they are OK, I took the fuel pressure pump from another car and tested on my one, still didn't work, I put my fuel pressure pump and common rail on another car, they are working. I didn't swap the injectors with another car and now I think they are the problem but I sent them to check and they told me they are OK. I don't have any electrical error, I just don't have enough fuel pressure. The motor starter it's trying to start but not enough fuel pressure to start. The only way to start the car it's the easy start (with a spray). Do you have any ideas? Thanks
  18. Hello everyone, Here is my latest problem with my is200. When I go to fuel up the hose keeps stopping as if the tank was full. It only allows me to fill the tank very very slowly. I have seen on you tube that some cars have an air valve near the wheels which for some reason is connected to the fuel tank. When this becomes blocked, it can lead to the exact same problem I am experiencing. Any idea where this is located in an is200? I'd like to have look to see if this simple fix will resolve the problem. Not sure if this is also related but after I have refuelled, the fuel level indicator seems to take a while to re adjust to the new level. Thanks in advance for your help.
  19. Hiyall, My question is simple: Does anyone know what is the size and thread of the bolt at the front end of the Fuel Delivery Pipe (see red circle in the attached picture)? Cheers, Sami
  20. Help required please. My old is200 sport has random display errors. I have searched for the answer on the internet without success. This is an intermittent error as sometime there is no error initially but then after a minute or so it happens. The outside temperature display now reads E instead of the current temperature. The fuel gauge does not move and the fuel light flashes. The engine temperature gauge does not move. The MPG gauge does not move. Any input on this would been gratefully received.
  21. Hi All, Just joined up as a member on here as I have recently taken ownership of a 53 plate IS300 Saloon (65k miles) with Styling kit and the 6 spoke TTE 18" wheels. After years of driving German cars, I have to say that I am seriously impressed with the overall drive and refinement of the IS! I do however have a small problem. It seems to dislike cold starts! It turns over ok, but takes a while to fire up and sometimes takes a couple of tries. Once it has been started it seems to start fine if tried again. Later on i the day it also seems to start ok. The battery looks oldish, but I think is ok as the starter motor sounds quite strong. My initial thoughts are spark plugs / fuel pump / fuel filter? Has anyone else had similar issues? Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
