  1. Hi all Picked up my new car last week and now doing some detailing. Surprised to see minor corrosion under the bonnet of a 3 year old, 14k mile car. Is this unusual? Anyone experienced the same. Please see pics. All easily corrected but maybe a result of aggressive cleaners and poor rinsing/drying. The strut tops are particularly disturbing. The one former owner was a lady school teacher who apparently never lifted the bonnet! Regards to all.
  2. Hi, I took my wheels to be refurbished today and after taking the tyres off the rims they came to me with one of the rims with the tyre sensor inside broken. The plastic was cracked right across just over the the bit with all the tech (or the bit that looks a bit like 2 batteries side by side). They claim it was like that when they took the tyre off but that’s rubbish as it would have been in pieces rolling around on the inside of the tyre and it would have raised an error on the dash. They just weren’t careful when removing. I claimed for a failed sensor on warranty last year and they told me out of warranty it would have cost £200 to repair. I’m going to try and get them to sort it out but are there any cheaper options anyone knows that I can use to sort this out? Thanks Ken
  3. Good morning all, I was on the look out for some Michelin Cross Climate+ tyres to replace my Yokohama fronts and Nexan rears. The rears have only covered 10k but want to replace all four together as the Michelins are obviously an all weather tyre. Anyhow, Kwik Fit are currently offering 10% off a pair and 15% off four. You can also claim some free Michelin Wireless earbuds if you are that way inclined. So a set of four for my CT200h just cost me £415.70 including a £5 charitable donation for a children's cancer charity. The discount worked out at £63.30 and they are due to be fitted on Wednesday morning. I also went through Quidco in case I manage to also succesfully snag the £17.16 cashback which has so far been confirmed as tracked. Just posting in case anyone is considering fitting these tyres to their Lexus in time for winter.
  4. Hi everyone, I just bought a new Lexus IS300h and I have this weird single beep happens sometimes while driving with no indication. I have no navigation system installed on my car so I don't think it's a camera/radar beep, unless the car can notice one without GPS. Any clue? Thanks!
  5. Ahoy! Part II of Stealth Mode.. Black Pearl Front and Rear Badges and OEM Lexus Rear Spoiler.. Thats it.. Skint now... :( Enjoy
  6. Hi All, It's time to change the tyres on my Lexus IS300H. I have tried to have a research on the differences between Run-flats and standard tyres however I haven't found anything that's conclusive. Does anyone have any experiences on using the different types of tyres and if so what would your recommendation be? TIA, Shy
  7. Looking for advice about the best place to buy Lexus touch up paint from and also where do I find my car's paint code (silver IS300h) or does anybody happen to know it anyway?

  9. Hi, Have had an issue with my IS300h 2014 F-Sport owned for 11 months. At low speeds <15mph there is an annoying and reasonably loud squeak/squealing coming from the wheels/brakes. Took it to my local Lexus not long after they purchased and they said pads and discs heavily eroded. The quote to fix was £550 (which the Lexus branch I bought it from paid). The squeak subsided for about 2 weeks and then came back. It's been on and off and in winter I could ignore it but now summer is here again it's annoying having the windows open. I took it for a service 2 weeks ago and asked them to look into it. They came back and said they can't hear a squeak (sometimes it goes away for a few miles) and that they had checked the brakes and they were fitted perfectly so there is nothing they can see to fix. But the annoying squeak still remains 😞. Wondering if others have had the issue and if Lexus are perhaps covering themselves because it's a know issue with their pads and to say that would potentially have me telling them to change them? I'm happy to pay again to change these pads to non Lexus from a standard mechanic (if anybody has any suggestions which brand to change to). I previously posted about this and someone said like behind the caliper or pads needed to be greased. I mentioned that to Lexus and they said they didn't know anything about that so there is nothing they can see to do. As the car is almost out of the 1 year warranty I got when I purchased, I want the problem resolved sooner rather than later by them - unless its as easy as changing to non manufacturer pads in which case I will do that instead? Wondering if it may be something more serious and they are stalling until I am out of warranty to all of a sudden discover the issue (though Lexus doesn't strike me as that kind of company - I could be wrong)? Any advice/previous experiences would be appreciated as its really starting to impact my enjoyment of the car. Thanks Ken
  10. Can anyone help me please. Id like to have red callipers and red rim protectors on my IS300H F-Sport. its not a dealer option, so can anyone suggest anything please?
  11. Hi All, I was hoping to get a recommendation on tyres to use on my 2014 IS300h F-Sport. Took it for service at Lexus over the weekend and one of my tyres is quite worn on the inside. Booked it into Kwik-Fit and used their tool to find the correct size based on make and model (225/40/R18 Bridgestone Turanza T005 good for the front and the back per their tool). Turns out that's wrong (should have checked the wall) for the back they're actually 255/35/R18 and the ones I currently have are Bridgestone Turanza ER-33 with a nice protective lip to protect from curbing - the T005s do not have such an advantage. The ER-33 are on all my wheels currently with a slightly different size on the front. I can order them and they can fit it but it will cost about £100 more than the ones that were previously suggested which isn't too bad (but not great). My issue however is that they seem to be terrible tyres from the ratings - F for efficiency, C for wet and I've seen a few user reviews from different sites saying they are bad in the wet and common for aquaplaning. I've had my car almost a year and never experienced any issues but now thinking is it worth spending so much on what seem to be terrible performing tyres (mainly in the wet) with the only plus point being that they are hard wearing? May favourite tyres of all time are the Good Year Efficient Grip (but they don't seem to be produced in this size). So my question are: 1. Should I stick with the ER-33s as they may be better than suggested in the reviews for people who have IS300h and have used them longer than I have? 2. Or should I change and if so can anybody suggest an actual tyre to go with which has the protective lip over the alloys as well? I need to change the tyres quite quickly and get it booked in before the weekend (MOT) so quick responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot, Ken
  12. Hi all, I am thinking about upgrading my 2003 IS300 Sport to a fairly recent (ish) IS300h F Sport. Now this is a big step for me as I have not bought a new car since 2003 when I got my IS300 from Lexus. I love this car but it is getting older and it uses quite a lot of fuel driving to and from the lake district. I was thinking about an IS300h F Sport in black with black interior. Now should I go for the fancy Takumi F Sport model and is it possible to find the holy grail of a black one with takumi and mark levinson audio? I was probably going for a 2016/17 model. I tested one yesterday at Lexus Hatfield and first impressions are good. Anything to look out for? What price should I be looking at? I see some are shod in Dunlop tyres. My first thoughts were to sack those off and stick Pirellis on. Worthwhile? Thanks so much!
  13. Ive just changed my oil AND filter while is was on The štandu i took off The wheels AND nožice The rear have Ware on the inside they have only Done 23000 miles is This normal Thanks just ordered 2 new rears
  14. Hi All, Hoping this is just a quick one - the pinkish coolant in my 2014 IS300h at near the bonnet (I am assuming for the radiator) is getting close to minimum. I asked Lexus (as I have had the car under a year) what I should fill it with and if I should come and buy coolant direct from them to do it. They said it just needs any pink coolant. Is that correct and if so would anybody suggest a brand to use? Just for clarity the colour of the coolant running low is the same as the tank you see kind of in the middle of the engine (also pink). Thanks Ken
  15. Good afternoon all. I hope someone can help? I have had a look through the forum but could not find the answer to my question - Sorry if it is there...😇 So over the lockdown my battery kept dying and I charged it using a AGM compatible charger. Now that I am back at work and driving it normally i find that the battery goes flat every couple of days so definitely time to change the battery. I have found a battery but.... Does this vehicle have a Battery Management System that needs to be reset by a main dealer or is it effectively plug and play? Many thanks in advance! 😍😍 Roddy
  16. So today is time to say farewell to my much loved IS 250 second gen 56 Reg, and start a new journey with the IS 300H F Sport 63 Reg Would love to know what you all think. Thanks 🙏
  17. I just received an email from Lexus Cheltenham announcing Lexus have come out top in the 2020 survey. I won't bore anyone with the details as I'm sure forum members will be reading it for themselves. Les
  18. Hi, I hope everyone is well in the current health crisis. I have an IS300h that I fitted wind deflectors to about 18 months ago because part of my trip to work involved sitting on a car ferry. With the windows cracked open for air, the rain came in hence I fitted deflectors. I now have no need for them and have just removed them. However, I see that the window seal on both front windows is deformed. I went for a drive and there is more wind noise than when they were fitted. Will the seals "recover" their original shape? Is there anything I can do to remedy this situation? Have I made a major mistake in removing them? I never liked them anyway and had always planned on removing them when the car ferry ended. Thanks.
  19. I owned an IS300h for a while and a GS300h turned up for sale at my local Lexus dealer at a very good price. I much prefer this GS which is smoother although not as fast because it is heavier and fuel consumption is higher too. I preferred the styling of the IS but the GS looks fine standing against its competitors. I do find the "Sport" mode impressive. My only disappointment with Lexus is - you buy the shell then pay for the wheels, the tyres the wipers the windscreen....... Only joking but if you buy second hand make sure you know what extras are fitted my first IS was minus a navigator which I needed and thought was fitted. I kept the IS Lexus bootliner when I swapped - it's in as new condition and didn't fit my GS. Anyone want to buy it?
  20. Hi guys, My wife and I have clocked about 2k miles in our 2014 IS300h F Sport and we seem to only be averaging 37-39mpg. I exepected quite a bit more from the car so wondering if I’m doing anything wrong? I read somewhere that accelerating reasonable quickly but not flooring it and then releasing the acellerator, then pressing back down gently so the car goes onto electric is an efficient way driving. I do this whenever I can but figures still stay in the high 30s only. Since we got the car I fill it back up every week and work out the average cost per mile. On Sainsbury’s petrol at around £1.24 per litre I consistently get around 15-16p a mile which I don’t think is not bad but could be much better if I made it into the 40s. Car is mainly used for school runs with some stop start traffic with the wife. At weekend I put it on the A13 to go in and out of London but again once you get there it’s stop start again. Wondeing if anything wrong or this is normal. Before I bought the car I looked at the ‘realmpg’ site where individuals post their mpgs and it calculates an average. On there it was 48+ which was part of the reason I bought it. Any advice would be helpful before I approach dealer. Thanks K
  21. Hi Guys, I have just joined the club as I am interested in buying IS300h luxury trim 64 plate with 125k miles on it. I like German cars and had BMW 320d and C220 Merc in last few years. Both I bought with 100k+ miles on the board and I never had any issue with them all the time I had them apart from regular services and tyres change. They proved to be economical as well. I have read a lot about other Lexus models with high mileage’s but I haven’t read anything about IS300H crossing 100+ and yet keeping inact which German diesels do quite often and quite decently. I am still confused as if I should go ahead with it or stick to old school - long lasting diesels? I have been following threads in here for quite a few days and found them very interesting and helping. I hope I would also be listened to :)) Thanks
  22. Hi All, Can anyone tell me how to log in to connected services? I went to a website I googled for Lexus Europe I believe and it said it no longer available. Wondering if it’s the wrong website and anyone has a link? I’d like to use it to send routes to my car without having to use the system inside and more importantly to get traffic updates. Also, does anyone know how to update the map? Bit embarrassed today when I was putting in a postcode for my wife to take our kids to a birthday party and that particular postcode wasn’t available in the postcode part of the sat nav. She had to use her phone lying on the centre console. Not safe and not great for car we just bought albeit 2014. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ken
  23. just bought my first lexus changing from jaguar
  24. Hi All, Just a quick one and it may be totally normal but just wanted to check as I haven’t had the car long 🙂 Noticed that when I slow down to go over a set of ramps, soon as I go over and accelerate lightly but enough for the engine to come on and not just use electric, the engine revs increase as if I were accelerating harder (even if I’m keeping a relatively consistent speed). When I get to the next ramp and reduce speed and go over the same happens when I get back on the throttle. Is this normal? It’s a bit annoying I just say because I’m not really accelerating. May just be the way yeh CVT works, but just wanted to check as it’s been bugging me. Thanks Ken
  25. Hi All, Had my IS300h for almost a month now and I love it so far. Had a few niggles to begin with but gladly sorted by the dealership. I have however noticed that the inside of the car steams up quite easily when its more that just me. Even when the heating is set to auto and the A/C is on. this has only started happening as far as I can remember as the weather has got colder and it's been raining. Has anyone else experienced this and is there something I am doing wrong? Had a 2005 BMW 120d before this and I would stick it in auto heating mode at 20 degrees and turn the AC off an the windows never frosted up regardless of weather. Was expecting this to be an even better system being a Lexus - so sincerely hoping im doing somthing wrong as sonctantly turning on the demister can be annoying. Thanks all, Ken
