  1. Is200 down in power since the day I bought it, compression tested recently all cylinders 175/180 good compression. Has new spark plugs, vvti solenoid, fuel pump, new coilpacks, throttle body and sensors, new japspeed manifold with no cats, new 02 sensors/second hand sensors but they came off a perfectly working car I have a new MAP sensor on the way I know they are a slow car but it being down on power makes it real difficult to drive, only light on dash is oil light comes on and off as im driving but its not leaking oil, I check the oil religiously because of it and has never lost a drop since I got it, scanned the car and it has no faults Any suggestions?
  2. Hi lads I'm having issues with my is200, I recently tried supercharging it but I came across this issue, I took off everything got to do with the supercharger kit and still having the exact issue even though now the car is back to stock/NA the issue is that when I rev the car past 5k rpm the car just dies when ya let off the throttle i tried the tb mod but idled like **** so bought another tb to replace the old one, I had to make a new tb gasket out of gasket paper because the metal one broke, I had the injectors out but put them back in 1980BF21-7631-4598-9AED-FE1BDF8DE415.mp4 4991C90E-3505-4BD4-A371-5D81F6359344.mp4
  3. I always wanted a luxury, reliable, fuel efficient a car. Nevertheless, I fancy the innovative interior of a new Mercedes S class or BMW I7. You know the cool pop-up speaker, ambient lightning, headrest tablets, door projector that Lexus is lacking as a whole and for ES specifically. One thing I realized is that is much harder to make a car reliable than make it looks cool, so I went with Lexus ES 300H and started an interior revamp project to match all the latest German gadget. I enjoy every single moment when I drive it now because I know I have the dream car of my life. Reliable, Fuel Efficient, Luxury, lots of customized futuristic RGB toys. Took me about 2 months to gradually install and test out with my friend in a home garage: 2 front tweet (pop-up) speakers Full ambient package (door handle, trims, dash, seat, foot light) Lexus door projector Illuminated door sill Tablet + Magnet mounts Just share with you guys how much you can get out of customizing your car. All items cost under 1000$ if you exclude tablets. For me, it cost 2000$ with 2 tablets. Yes 2000$ upgrade make your car look like at least 20000$ more expensive. Definitely worth it but be aware! It is not recommended if you are not willing to spent time, resources and pay attention to detail or new to the space. I am looking to install starlight headliner as well, just like those stars on the roof of a Roll Royce but it is not high on my priority list. If you guys have any ideas of other stuff that I can install to enhance this spaceship, feel free to drop comment. I am happy to share links, if someone want to replicate the build. 20230704_213130.mp4 Lexus_1.mp4
  4. Hi all This is my SC430 that i picked up a couple of weeks ago, Thought i would start a progress thread ... 2001 (51) Lexus SC430 - Silver - Originally from Liverpool - 35,000 at pick up. Silver Exterior, Black leather with Walnut trim. Completely Stock ... The Day i picked her up .... Bye Bye Clio ... Hello Luxury! :P Everything appears to be mechanically sound. She's just in need of a bit of TLC to get her back to looking like new. Absolutely love the car, Engine and gearbox are fantastically smooth. Ride is a little soft but hey, Its how its suppose to be for this type of car (Im been used to a MK3 Renault clio on hard coil overs for the last few years, So anything seams soft compared to that!) ... So far, so good :) Things to do ... 1. Remove corrosion and repaint the two radiator locator brackets. At same time replace/protect any bolts with slight corrosion. 2. Replace Fuse box (Next to battery). Previous owner couldn't figure out how to remove the lid, So he took a screwdriver to the side and smashed the casing ... 3. Battery box is missing. Find a replacement. 4. Full underside rust proofing (As underside looks like it has never seen rain before!!! would like to keep it looking like this!) 4. Small dint to be removed from Bonnet and Passenger side rear arch. 5. Gold Emblems to be cleaned up and re-plated if needs be. 6. TPMS valve stems are damaged (Threaded part) are worn/damaged to the point a valve cap won't fit. 7. Mark Levinson 6x9's in both doors have perished and will either be repaired or replaced. Or all speakers replaced with higher quality units, But retain the OEM Head unit. 8. Figure out why the head light washers aren't working (Possible seized motor). Passed its MOT before i picked it up, so should be working! 9. Alloys have just been refurbished, But not exactly to a high standard, so will be redone at some point. One alloy has a crack in it (apparently) so this will be looked into/replaced/fixed 10. Restore Head Light lens's as slightly yellowed at the top on both. Replace yellow side light bulbs with whiter bulbs (To match HID's) that are "E" marked (Not L.E.Ds as I've been caught out by a MOT tester before over this) 11. Cam belt, Serpentine belt, Water Pump and Thermostat to be replaced (all 13 years old so being water pump and thermostat being preventatively replaced) along with a full service with transmission fluid, Brake fluid and Power steering fluid change. 12. Replace tyres as they are 6 years old. Also a full alignment check as steering wheel is slightly off centre. 13. Check if recalls have been done ... 14. Full interior clean with leather feed and treatment. 15. Full Paint Correction for exterior (As she's never been polished before going from how rough the paint feels!) 16. iPod connectivity to head unit 17. All air filters to be replaced (Air con to be cleaned and re-gassed) ... Basically, I want to get her back to looking and working like she's just come off the production line :) After all this ... (This is were some of you might fall out with me!) ... Unfortunately The plan is ...(eventually) get her sat on Air Ride, US rear bumper (Deleted fog lights) with deleted reflectors front and rear (or possible body kit change, but nothing OTT) and some very large, Very wide, Very cambered wheels and things like pressed number plates, custom exhaust (Currently a little too quite for my personal taste) ... Effectively going down the V.I.P Style route .... However, these plans will probably change!
  5. Hello Everyone, I am looking to buy a Lexus LS430 but it is due for its timing belt change. I have contacted Lexus Exeter and they quoted that it would be "£762.00 inclusive of VAT. If you wanted the water pump replaced as well this would be an additional £254.00". This seemed quite expensive to me, especially as I asked how much the timing belt kit was, and they said £72... but I thought that was just for a single timing belt and not the whole kit? I have a quote from a Lexus approved, independent garage local to me for £847.95: timing belt and coolant pump (labour and parts, VAT included). Do you think this is a fair price and does it matter with the timing belt to use Lexus genuine parts, or is after market for this type of thing of acceptable quality? I am based in the Plymouth area, but am willing to travel within a 20 mile radius to get a better deal. Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated!! Best wishes, Joshua22
  6. Hi, After 185 Miles i'm getting ~30 MPG. Driving mostly in Normal mode and 60-70% of the time on urban roads. Is it normal for a new car? Thanks, Ishay
  7. Hey Lexus Family, I am delighted to announce that I recently picked up my very own Lexus LC. It is a launch edition LC 500h, 1 of 5 in the UK. I will attach some photos of my new car below.
  8. Hello everyone I am new to this group but not new to Lexus, however I have the UL Lexus with air suspension and the ride is very nice and pleasant for about 10 minutes then becomes stiffened and there’s a lot of road imperfection feel and it’s harsh, more than it normally should. I’ve driven a few LS430 before with air sus and theyre fantastic even in sport settings. My car has relatively low miles only a touch above 100,000. I do know that the bushes need to be changed, and the control arms as well as the track rod ends, and I was thinking that if they’re all misaligned/ not doing their job properly it could send the computer off and stiffen the suspension a bit too much? Or affect the air suspension. I really doubt it’s the shocks, there’s no oil leak and they’re not bouncing around the place, and there’s very minimal swaying around the corners. help please !! Haha ! (Really need help) thanks all, Godspeed!
  9. Has anybody else had problems with trying to insure a newish car with Lexus? My NX was registered in September and my insurance is coming up for renewal so I went online and obtained 7 quotes from different companies. Over the weekend the Lexus website crashed and I couldn't complete the application but all was well on Monday. It wasn't the cheapest quote but I liked the idea of all genuine Lexus repairs so today (Friday) I decided to accept the quote. I hadn't been able to enter my registration number online but I was able to manually enter the details to get the quote. When I came to accept the quote online, I was once again asked for my registration number and again this failed so I phoned Lexus Insurance. Spoke with an agent who just made loads of excuses and wouldn't listen. None of the other 6 companies had trouble with the registration number but this agent was insistent that the problem was caused by my current insurers not registering the car properly. It is with their special operations team at the moment but I am wondering if Lexus Insurance is the right decision if their systems don't work and their staff so unhelpful.
  10. Hey everyone, I recently had the facelifted Lexus ES 300h out from Lexus Glasgow. Firstly I must say that the touchscreen is an improvement over the 2019 model that I was in previously, there is still the remote touchpad. The screen is a good 10cm closer to the driver now so you can touch it with ease (it also has apple car play and android auto). Sadly not the latest system that is found in the NX and new RZ. I personally really like the LED headlights and the appearance of the F sport trim Lexus models on a whole look great (prefer the chrome look of the pre facelift vs these black rims). The main positives for the car was the incredible rear legroom (feels huge coming out of a Jaguar XJ X351), the ride quality is very subtle and you don't feel the road as much as I expected (especially being the F sport). It still has a CD player, which great as I know I get many comments on cars that still have them. The negatives that I could see is the lack of engine choice and there is no awd. That CVT gearbox is a touch loud when accelerating onto the motorway. Black alloy wheels on the F sport trim I don't think suit a car like this. I couldn't get the car over 48 mpg and I really did try driving as economically as I could (I can easily get 52 mpg in the IS 300h without trying). If anyone wishes to check out my video on the facelifted Lexus ES 300h F sport, the link is below:
  11. After upgrading recently to the 4K UHD, I revisited Michael Mann's Collateral (2004) last night, and couldn't help but wince at the scene in which a beautiful white LS400 gets damaged by the taxi that is the movie's centrepiece. I'm pretty sure I also witnessed a 2nd-gen GS at some point during the film, but anyway I thought this might be a fun topic for people to participate in. Basically, post every time you see a Lexus on the small or big screen. Giving details (especially images, video) where possible. 🙂
  12. Broke this piece while working on my 2001 lexus is300 was wondering if anyone knew what this part was called?
  13. Hi All, So yesterday I was driving home and just as I accelerated quite hard for an overtake, I hear a mild pop from under the hood, a strong smell of rotten eggs followed and the car rolled to a stop. It wouldn't start back up. I managed to get it towed back home and upon inspection this morning, I could smell the strong odour from the inverter. After opening and seeing that this had burnt out, I went ahead and got a replacement from a lexus breaker and fitted this in together with replacing the orange fuse at the back battery pack as well as a 7.5 fuse under the hood. However now, even after the replacement, I am unable to get the car into ready mode and it doesn't move, the warnings I get on the dash with most of the lights are firstly check PCS and then when I put it into drive, check vgrs with an image of a steering wheel with arrows showing clockwise and anti-clockwise. I can hear break buzzes when I put my foot on the brake however no further progress. A kind AA man came and plugged his computer in and the following codes showed, he said no other codes were showing under any of the other menus. Any ideas what might be the issue?
  14. Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to change my rear bumper and put the one of the 200T + diffuser, of course i would like much more the MY2017, but the one before would also be ok. Does anyone know if it would be possible? As in Spain we don´t have the 200T version it is also very difficult to get one, and from Lexus Spain they say that it is not possible to order it if i dont have the chassis number of 200T, so im not able to try it neither My idea is if it fits, try to find the rear bumper in UK websites or try to look for someone that can order it for me. Thank you in advance
  15. Hi recently put a turbo in my lexus is200, Td05 full set up with fuel regulator, upgraded fuel pump with return line, 1zz injectors, sump etc. car was fuel cutting every time hitting boost (.5 boost). Tried 4 different fuel cut defenders and piggy back ecu and nothing worked. Changed all spark plugs, coil packs, throttle body, ecu everything and still fuel cutting. I also put standard injectors and fuel pump back in and still fuel cutting. Anyone able to help me out? When disconnect the pipe from throttle body and run car without turbo its perfect but when connect pipe back up issue starts again. Thanks
  16. Hey everyone, I have a question with regards to my passenger side mirror. It seems to have lost power as it no longer folds in, doesn't dim or adjust. I have had a look on YouTube and FB to try find an answer, however most of the content relates to the LS430 and the folding feature. Has anyone had a similar issue/ know of a solution? Thanks in advance, Thomas 🙂
  17. Hey everyone, It was great to meet so many of you on Sunday at the SC 430 club meet. Thanks to Chris for hosting and Juan for arranging. (Graham it was amazing to see your RCF in person) For anyone who missed the club meet or would like to see the event please click the link below:
  18. Morning Ladies & Gentleman, I am a fairly new poster here, so go easy! I have a lexus Is250 in matador red, and I need a new exhaust system, due to the old one blowing, this includes the rear tail pipes, the mid pipe and the catalytic converter. I am looking for a setup which gives me a nice tone, but something which isn't so loud it disturbs the neighbours, what are your thoughts? Id also like to hopefully add some power in the process, i have been told an invidea mid pipe with resonator will give me the result i am looking for but i just wanted a second opinion, i was also toying with the idea of just heading over to https://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/car-parts/Lexus/IS250/2.5L/Petrol/Premium/Exhausts/Catalytic-Converters/LEX5005H/1/34?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvdDks9aO8wIVjLt3Ch3xMwq7EAQYAiABEgIZWfD_BwE have anyone used these guys, and what are your thoughts? They seem reasonably priced for sure. And getting this with rear pipes of my choosing, but i am not sure on the best route to take, any help is greatly appreciated, and again, im looking for a tasteful mod, nothing too boy racer-ish, but nonetheless a nice tone, and i NO DRONE (I cant stress that enough) Thanks for your time, - Mitch
  19. Anyone looking to know the difference between all Lexus models that have the 2.5 Litre engine, below is official figures. Included the UX 250H in the list, even though its a 2.0 litre, I think its holds its own ground among the 2.5 litre engines, plus it has a better hybrid system. 20. How many people use AutoGlym? We have a huge range of them and all cheaper than RRP. https://www.lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/car-care/
  21. I just noticed this ad while browsing the internet, and recognized the plate immediately. The same LS 400 featured in Top Gear's 1990 review of Lexus was recently sold on August 3rd, 2018 for only £720.00. The car remains mostly original, retaining most of its engine covers and miscellaneous trim pieces, but it has unfortunately had rear end damage on the left quarter panel that left a scratch and dent. The car has also had a tow hitch installed on it at some point. This LS was last up for sale by Downs Auto in Epsom, Surrey, with 159,000 km in January, and I don't believe it had the quarter panel damage then. It has been driven 5,000 km since. Here is a mirror of the Ebay listing, with a few images: https://picclick.co.uk/Lexus-LS400-1990-40-LITRE-RED-CLASSIC-CAR-273375368319.html [ The scrape appears to have caused some rust. Hopefully this can be mended quickly, before it expands ] Here is the original episode, for reference: I do hope that whoever bought this car takes good care of it, as it is a part of Lexus history and a very early production model (4/19/1990).
  22. Has anyone on here driven a VW Golf GTE? I’ve been looking closely at these online and they look like they might be a very decent replacement for my current CT200h. 28 mile round trip for school run could be pretty much done on electric only at the cost of just over £1. Loads of tech in the highly specced Advance model. All the benefits of an electric car when driven locally with no range anxiety for longer trips when it can be used just like a traditional hybrid. 200HP too and up to 80mph on just electric. The trouble is I really do like my CT and like owning a Lexus.
  23. Hi there, pretty new to ths forum and read most of this trouble that ive had since lika a year back without really understanding it! So my coolant are sipping throught the reservoir tube? I think u all call it and ive changed the thermostat without any better results...I really dont hope its the head gasket thats gone but again ive been driving it for over a year with this sympton and no missfire or anything saying that its the hg. I have no oil in coolant and no coolant in oil, i changed the oil and filter like 1 months ago and it still looks good. Could it maybe be the waterpump that is bad? Ive started notice a ticking noise around the engine but no leaks from the pump? If so is it an easy thing to fix yourself or should i leave that to a mechanic? The thermostat was a pain in the ***** to get to but ive managed to change that in around 2-3h. Also when i drove home after changed the thermostat ive opened the trunk and saw white smoke coming from the reservoir tube and no coolant inside. It didnt smell like gas more lika coolant just also. No white smoke from the rear also! Its also a 2008 model that have gone 145000km (around 90098 miles) Sorry for a repost of this **** but i really wanna fix this as its my only car. I will also try and call lexus to see what they have to say about it aswell. Also im from Sweden and can only find topics like this here so hope i could get some kind of anwsers!
