  1. Hi All, Can I get some opinions on tyres to put on my IS300h. I currently have Dunlop Maxx RT on all corners as I did not like the firm ride from the original Bridgestone's. They're not bad, but I find they wear a little quicker than other tyres I have had and they suffer from crawing (I think its called when it slides on the edge of the tyre when you full lock). I'm currently considering: - Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 6 - Bridgestone Turanza T005 (which I believe are new and softer than the previous Turanza's I had) Any feedback/opinions, would be great. Also, my car is an F-Sport. Front wheel tyres are 225/40/R18 rears are 225/35/R18 and are much more limited in choice and more expensive than fronts. Does anybody know if you can use 225/40/R18 on the back as well or it will cause issues? Lastly, I need to change a TPMS sensor. Lexus have quoted me £86 for the one ands my mechanic can program for another £40. Has anybody used a non Lexus sensor and did it work ok? Or should I not risk it? I find their parts are exceptionally expensive. It's £210 per sensor supplied and fit at my local Lexus dealership. Cheers, Ken
  2. Michelin have kindly agreed to be available to answer all your questions on tyres. "Ask the Expert" will run from Monday 10th November until Friday 5th December. Lexus Owners Club are pleased to announce that we have managed to acquire the services of Jamie McWhir, Michelin UK Technical Manager, for our "Ask The Expert" thread on tyres. So if it's a question on tyre pressures, tyre choice, tyre ratings, tyre wear, mixing tyres, brands, Super sports, Cup 2's, Primacy 3's, Pilot Sport 3's or just about anything and everything tyre related then please ask away ... :) Questions will be answered by Jamie McWhir, Michelin UK Technical Manager "Ask the Expert" begins on Monday 10th November...
  3. National Tyres currently have an offer available that could make a set of CrossClimates, or any other Michelin tyres for that matter, something of a "bargain". (Quotation marks since they're amongst the most expensive tyres on the market) It's actually been running for a while so this may be old news to some, but since the deal is due to expire in a little over a week, I thought I'd deliver a heads-up. I've personally taken advantage of the deal and ordered a set of CrossClimate 2 for my IS. They'll be fitted next Friday. With the discount code applied, the price for 4 18" tyres incl fitting was £499. Significantly cheaper than anywhere else. Cheaper even than buying loose tyres and having them delivered.
  4. Well... yesterday it snowed. Our daughter is a p/t carer currently, and went out in the morning. I had put Falken all-seasons on her Aygo and all was well. Later in the day and the evening shift - it had snowed again, was getting icy and nasty and dark. To lessen her stress I took her for her appointments. She saw a car 'in' a post. Not someone's lucky day. ( One of her appointments on a hill... the client had cancelled it. The office forgot to tell my daughter! So we turned up there too.) Anyway, I had my trusty RX300, Michelin Cross Climates - about a year old - and my Snow/ECT button on. Never felt out of control, drove wisely and was impressed with their performance. Tried a few 'emergency stops' on the nasty side roads and they were perfect. Impressed. PS. Saw this on our travels.
  5. Good morning all, I was on the look out for some Michelin Cross Climate+ tyres to replace my Yokohama fronts and Nexan rears. The rears have only covered 10k but want to replace all four together as the Michelins are obviously an all weather tyre. Anyhow, Kwik Fit are currently offering 10% off a pair and 15% off four. You can also claim some free Michelin Wireless earbuds if you are that way inclined. So a set of four for my CT200h just cost me £415.70 including a £5 charitable donation for a children's cancer charity. The discount worked out at £63.30 and they are due to be fitted on Wednesday morning. I also went through Quidco in case I manage to also succesfully snag the £17.16 cashback which has so far been confirmed as tracked. Just posting in case anyone is considering fitting these tyres to their Lexus in time for winter.
  6. From the album: IS250 F-SPORT - Current Car

Wheels now out of their boxes and fitted with fresh rubber (Michelin Pilot Sport 4) and IS-F centre caps.
  7. Well my TPMS warning light was on this morning again. I checked the rear offside tyre which had been down on pressure a couple of weeks ago and it was slightly soft. Repressurised everything was good. This tyre was soft a couple of weeks ago so must have a very slow puncture. As the tyres were checked on service on Friday it must be a very slight leak. Both rear tyres last week at service were deemed to be a little low on tread -scuffed on inside of both rears and N/S down to 3mm in middle and rear o/s 3.9mm in middle. since then I have covered a further 600 miles. I visited my local tyre guru who quoted £400 to replace rears like for like (Dunlop Sport Maxx). That would mean in a couple of months ( 4,000 miles) ,when the fronts needed changing another £400 to keep everything matched. total £800. He priced a few others and came up with the Michelin Primacy 4 which is a new model at £650 for four. In addition there is an offer with Michelin where they put £50 on a prepaid visa card for you if you buy 4 tyres bringing the cost down to £600. He reckons the new Primacy is a great tyre and is' A 'rated for wet grip. On that basis I have ordered a set as the Dunlops are original and have now covered 30,500 miles so I can't complain. Will keep you updated when fitted as to their performance.
  8. It's snowy here today. Nasty snow; ice, snow, compacted snow, slush. Lots of stuck cars, spinning cars etc. We were both fine. Nokian Weatherprrof on hers, Michelin Latitude Tour HP - both all season. We both felt safe and secure. Cars were getting stuck on the slightest of inclines. I felt I could have stopped on a hill and started again, easily. It felt good. And safe.
  9. Need some help and advice gents. So I've had enough of my OEM Bridgestones and wanted to change to the Michelin PS4s tyres all round. I thought I might as well upgrade the sizes from OEM to 245/35/19 fronts and 275/30/19 rears. Got to Costco today after ordering them a few days ago only to be told they refuse to fit them as the are not the manufactures recommended size and it will invalidate your insurance. 1st I've heard something like this as I'm sticking to the correct load and speed rating. Any advice please? You guys who have upgraded the size told your insurance company?
