  1. Does anyone here have SatNav disks for an RX300 SEL 2004, that are more up to date than the originals that they would like to sell?
  2. So am planning to install an aftermarket satnav on mine (i have a non-satnav 2002 lexus) I do have someone whos breaking a lexus and has the complete original sat nav in it but by reading most of this seems like it'll be really hard to install that? does anyone have a step by step on how to do it? i think i'm gna go for the sony one! and i still need to buy the housnig from somewhere. Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks
  3. Hi All Apologies if this has already been answered, but my trawl of the forum didn't yield any results. I have a 2004 RX300 with a GEN1 SatNav with some pretty old discs in it. I am looking at upgrading to the latest discs (2011 I believe) from http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ I wondered if anyone had purchased these and if so could confirm: 1: If search by postcode only is facilitated with this - current setup is infuriating! 2: If the latest discs allow the SatNav to be used whilst the car is moving - I'm getting conflicting info from the web Thanks in advance and apologies if this has already been answered. Daniel
  4. As I was driving I had my satnav on and my Hi Fi up load. Each time the satnav gave directions I could not hear it over the music,I could not belive the music didnt automatically lower so that I could hear directions over the music like my Jaguar XF used to do. Does anyone know If this is an option to switch on that I may have missed.
  5. Hi, I hope someone can fill in some blanks for me as only recently bought this car. 2004 Is 200 sport UK model. The previous owner, for some reason, removed the sat nav. Then replaced it with the standard flip up parcel tray. I have a button by the gearstick saying TM but of course doesn't do anything, plus i have a cable that comes from under the dash and over the top, with a sensor at the end. Is that supposed to be there or is this something maybe left over if they had their own satnav in there instead? If so, can the wire be ripped out or will it affect anything? How much would it cost to have someone fit a 2nd had lexus nav back in? If i had lexus nav put back in, i prob wouldnt use it though(!) i am just thinking of the cars resale value, not that i plan to get rid of! Thanks
  6. I'm looking at buying a Lexus is200 but the only problem is that controller in the center is a small half size unit. Would it be possible to swap that out with the full size button type controller with ease? Is it a simple swap over the wires and that's it or more involved? It's a nightmare looking for my perfect lexus. What i'm trying to find is a Charcoal grey, Satnav, sport, very tidy no damage outside and tidy interior with 8+months MOT for £900 £1,000 if the car is perfect but means i need to wait an extra week to collect it. Why is it so hard to find the right car. Anyway back to the original question can it be done easy or not? Thanks James.
  7. Can anyone help please... Although I tend to use my phone as a satnav, I would update my system if the discs were cheap ( used/ebay? ). I have an RX300 and I know it's generation one. the numbers on my DVD are the 08664 are; 24121 and 70V311A Q. Do I simply find a newer 'generation 1' DVD, or is it more involved than that? I see various used Gen.1 DVD's on eBay ...

  9. Hi I'm new to Lexus ownership and only picked up my '03 IS300 SportCross yesterday. I know I'm going to have a few questions but I guess it's best to post each question separately. Looking forward to chatting with you all over the coming months. First issue - can't get the SatNav switched on and don't have a manual to go with it. It's the type that flips up on the top of the dash and says "GPS Voice Navigation System" on it. I can't even get it to flip up pressing the open/close button. Can anyone help me with a link to a user manual so i can at least read what it should do?! Thanks. William
  10. Hi guys and girls, I've had my IS300h Executive Edition for 1 month now and love the car! I will list the positives and criticisms on another post but my biggest bugbear is the satnav and how to set a destination. Firstly, this only applies to owners without the "mouse-pad" and have the wheel to input commands. Not sure what "mouse-pad" owners think of theirs and the speed of setting a destination? So, this is the steps I need to take to set my home destination (by far the easiest) and I'm reducing clicks here by starting from the Nav map screen, not from menu! 1) Click twice on wheel button to get to the nav options menu 2) Click once to access Destination 3) Click once to access Home - back to the Nav map screen with the stupid arrows... 4) Click once and an arrow is highlighted 5) Move wheel button around to get to the bottom corner and click Set (up to 3 "moves" 6) Click on Start.... Phew..... So, adding all these clicks and moves, it has taken 9 actions just to set my home destination! In other cars in the same category, it takes one click of a button if you set shortcuts up on the dash. SURELY Lexus must have had a human testing this rather than a robot as it is just so long-winded to do a simple operation. I have not even begun to go into setting a postcode, or even worse, setting an address using town and street... So, am I the only one with major grumblings on this or are you all so happy because I have been an idiot and not read the manual and there is a magic button I have not used to set the satnav to home? Please let it be the latter so that I don't have the urge to slit my wrists everytime I get in the car and have to setup the satnav... Thanks for listening to my mega moan. Hope you all have better experiences! Shady
  11. Hello, on the last couple of long trips, the Satnav on my 54 RX300 has started getting my position wrong. It varies from 100 yards to miles out. It is not an old maps/ new road issue. The problem is intermittent, it may play up for 5 minutes and then fix itself, or be several hours before recovering. Searching the web I found a link which gave instructions on how to reset the satnav which was essentially pull all the wires out and leave for one minute. Before I try that, I thought I would check on the forum and see if anyone here knew what the problem was and how to fix. The CD player packed up some years ago (Error 4 I think), so with the Satnav giving trouble perhaps it is time for a full entertainment system refresh. Does anyone know of someone in the Basildon/Southend area that can do an upgrade with a compatible system? Thank you, Gary
  12. Hi All Can anyone tell me please, When I push the home button on my satnav it says I have to register. Does anyone know how to do that, If it costs and what is the advantages. Thank you in advance Richard
  13. In My is200 ive got the flip up and tilt sat-nav display, but when i bought the car its got a smashed screen, so i was thinking of getting a whole new unit, but were can i get them from? ive looked on ebay and amazon etc. but to no joy Can anyone tell me were i might be able to get one? (WITHOUT) costing me an arm and a leg Cheers.
  14. Can anybody confirm that Mirrorlink on EU models of the IS300h will not be available on satnav models? I found a post which seems to confirm this. Eventhough eManual explains Mirrorlink and does not discuss dependency on model. Anways I connected my HTC One X via USB and started the Auto app. On the Info screen of the in-car entertainment I see no Mirrorlink icon whatsoever. Regards, Jeroen.
  15. I have two Lexuses (Lexi?), a 2008 LS460 and a 2005 RX300 and would like to update the satnav discs in both but don’t want to pay Lexus dealer prices for the newest versions. More recent Lexus satnav DVD’s are readily available on Ebay but I can’t find out which to get for each vehicle, nor if putting newer versions in is actually possible – or can I put those from the LS460 into the RX300 to solve half the problem? Does anybody have experience of updating satnav discs? Additionally, through some clumsy kerbing I have succeeded in breaking one of the tyre pressure sensor valves on the LS460. As with the satnav discs, these valves are available on Ebay, but can they only be fitted by a dealer? Presumably there’s some form of programming needed for the car to ‘read’ a new valve. Thanks
  16. I have a 2004 GS430 (2nd generation) fitted, as is usual, with the Generation 01 satnav system - the one that starts up with this screen: and which "features" (sic) the Motion Lock on the satnav (where I can't set/change destination and much else while the car is moving) drives me nuts. Lexus is not my Mother. I know. I tried all the cheats I could find online, tapping various parts of the screen in sequence. One did get me to an information/diagnostics screen, but there was definitely no override capability there I also tried cutting one of the wires into the centre console (forget which, now) as per forum suggestions, but that too made no difference so I spliced it back. I then gave up. Now, years later, I've checked to see what's available, and found this: This "Beatsonic nt0202" looks suspiciously like a button switch which simply cuts one of the wires in the loom at the back of the centre console. If so, it is unlikely to fix the motion lock. Is it likely to work on my GS?
  17. Hi all - looking to purchase an RX400h soon was wondering if anyone could give me any information on an apparent change to the SatNav / MM screen that occurred in 06. My price range puts me in the 2005 or 2006 SE or SE-L area - and when I when I test drove a 56 plate car at Lexus in Reading they pointed out that it had the updated SatNav (referring to the screen rather than the maps themselves!) Can anyone let me know what the difference is? Is it just the resolution or is there a difference in functionality? Does anyone know when the change occurred? Many thanks Darren
  18. Hi Everyone, My 2004 Lexus Sat-Nav Screen is suddenly Blank, the Reverse Camera and Screen settings screens work fine but the Sat-Nav and Service Screens are all Blank apart from an update screen that comes on from time to time on the Map Screen saying update dont remove disc in English and Japanese, then reverts back to a blank screen, This has just happened after I picked the car up from my mechanic who replaced the front Brake pads and discs (im sure just a coincidence), Please can anyone help me its always worked perfectly..... Thanks in advance for any help!!
  19. On my first fairly long journey from Wales down to the South coast I encountered information from my SatNav that surprised me. First was a message that told me that a lane up ahead was closed. Sometime later it told me that there was heavy rain ahead. On the way back (via Northampton and M25), I was informed of a closed road and asked if I wanted an alternative route. Now I've had SatNav for many years in other vehicles and I'm aware that you can subscribe to receive information such as I have described above, but wasn't aware that it was a 'standard' feature of the Lexus version.
  20. Stumbled on a bit of a bargain and got hold of the older, smaller (5inch?) Nav dash units. Bargain because the screen flickers - not a problem for me as I was never going to use the stock screen anyway! What I want to do is rip the screen out, get a 5" TomTom (Start 25 or XXL Classic), rip the casing off that, fit it in place of the stock screen, with some custom wiring to do the following; 1) TomTom only powers up, and down, when the unit is opened and closed respectively. 2) Only have a power feed going to it when the ignition is on (so when ignition is turned off, no power goes to the TomTom) 3) Have it set in a way that it doesn't open when the ignition is turned on, but does close when the ignition is turned off. but also so that the open/close button, and tilt button, are fully useable (while ignition is on). Reason being is that the majority of the time I use the car, I just want to jump in and shoot off to the shops/supermarket/pub/mates/etc, and I don't need a sat nav for that. So rather than it constantly opening and turning the TomTom on when I start the car, I'd rather it do nothing, and only turn the TomTom on when I press the open button. Then when I am using it, and have got to where I want to go, and kill the ignition, I can be lazy and not have to press the close button, but rather kill the ignition, and the unit close and the TomTom shut off. But here's the problem - I know NOTHING about electronics! Not a sausage! I wouldn't even know where to begin - no clue about stripping a TomTom down and modifying it's wiring for power on etc, and not even a clue about how to splice in the power feed to operate the Nav motor and buttons either (my car didn't come with Nav, so no sub loom behind the dash to plug into for power, etc) Sooo, I'm looking for help from people MUCH more knowledgeable than me!
  21. I am new to the Lexus navigation system and have some difficulty with some of the terminology in the manual. For example, I am trying to find out how to store a current vehicle position as a saved destination. Would this be a memory point or a destination? Is there a quick way to do this? My current Landrover's system more or less gives you the option to store current position and give it a name. Simples! I'm sure there is something like that within the Lexus system, but I can't seem to track it down within the manual. I think the problem, at least for me, is that there is no glossary of terms or even a lead in at the begining of each section. e.g. 'Use this option to store the current postion of your car as a future destination.' Some of it is pretty intuative, but in my current system there are the staging or stop-off points, while destination is the Final destination. Would that translate to memory points and destinations in the Lexus system?
