  1. I've had my 2014 Lexus IS300h F Sport for around 3 Years. Never changed the Air Con gas. I switched the air con on just to see if it works as the days were getting warmer. It wasn't working and blowing warm air. As I have never re gassed the AC, i took it for a re charge and it failed. The charging machine came up with an error code B1423, which is generally associated with the AC pressure switch (located at the front of the car near the grill). I looked online for the genuine part (https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-is-phase-3-a-c-pressure-sensor/) and it was £300!! I went to a mechanic friend and he advised me that most Lexus/Toyota pressure sensors are the same and the error code could also be that the pressure isn't getting to the sensor in the first place, so it could well be the compressor. He advised to buy the same part on ebay for a tenth of the price: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324187998809?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=4R6HUeZQQjG&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=rm8E24gDQZK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=MORE, Same brand, same manufacturer of the "official" sensor. I replaced the pressure sensor, relatively easy to do but have to be careful when taking old one off as it could snap the base it screws on to. Re-gassed the air con and thankfully the car AC was working again.
  2. Hey everyone, As part of my battle to fix P0125 code, I recently replaced the ECT sensor on my 2004 Lexus SC 430. I hope this video helps anyone else who is looking to replace their engine coolant temperature sensor.
  3. Hi all, I've recently purchased a 2005 3rd gen GS300 and am really happy with it. Unfortunately I have a TPMS 'Check System' error, and having acquired techstream and a mini VCI cable I can see 2 sensors are not transmitting, presumably out of battery. Lexus have quoted £75 per sensor plus extra for fitting, so I've been searching on eBay UK for sensors and all the GS300 ones seem to be 315mhz, but I've read elsewhere that UK ones are 433mhz. Can anyone in the UK confirm what frequency the sensors are? Also, will any generic 433mhz sensor work or does it need to be specifically be for a mk3 GS? Many thanks, Jimi
  4. My wife experienced a scary issue with the brakes on her NX300h F-Sport (2017). She was driving along the dual carriageway (A8 in Scotland) on Monday morning when the dashboard lit up like a Xmas tree. Multiple warning messages relating to ABS, pre-collision, etc. Tried to stop the car but had almost zero braking power. Pushing the brake pedal all the way to the floor (unusual in itself) resulted in only the slightest amount of braking power. Really scary situation given she was travelling at 60MPH in early morning rush hour traffic. She eventually managed to stop the car. Called Lexus Recovery (AA) who came out within the hour. They confirmed something very wrong with brakes. Again the brake pedal was going all the way to the floor and making a strange noise when pressed. AA declared the car undriveable and ordered up a recovery truck to take it to Lexus Edinburgh. (Note: The AA man checked brake fluid and pads/disks and said no issues. He actually reported the problem on his sheet as potential shattering of brake servo!) Lexus Edinburgh put the diagnostic tool on the car which identified an error code for one of the rear ABS sensors. Apparently the way the sensor works (metal rotor spinning against a magnet) means that metal filings can break off and "clog" the sensor causing it to malfunction. So they took the sensor off, cleaned it out and then re-fitted it. Re-ran the diagnostics and no errors. And in their mind the problem was "probably" fixed and they would return the car. No assurances that it wouldn't happen again but if it did "they would take another look at it". So basically if the brakes fail at 70MPH on the motorway putting my wife in a very dangerous situation then they will do the decent thing and have another look. Unbelievable. They didn't bother to contact my wife to ask what had happened. Simply took the car off the recovery truck and ran their diagnostics and then followed the Lexus procedure which match the error code. Even when I rang them to explain what had actually happened they responded with "that couldn't possibly happen" and "a malfunctioning ABS sensor would not cause that to happen". So they were basically calling my wife and the AA man liars. I also pointed out to them that the (obvious) fact that the car had another three ABS sensors which had been on the car for exactly the same amount of miles (22,000) and as such there was a very high likelihood that they will have the exact same build-up of metal shavings, and therefore any one of them could be ready to fail. maybe in a day, a week or a month. And maybe the correct thing would have been to clean ALL of the sensors. But they weren't interested, Basically saying they wouldn't get reimbursed from Lexus for that work because those sensors were not showing as faulty. Again, unbelievable. And a complete lack of care towards the safety of one of your customers. I have no idea whether the malfunctioning ABS sensor was the issue. If it was, and it did cause a massive reduction in braking performance, then how can Lexus not class this as a huge safety issue. Losing 90-95% of braking performance without warning cannot be acceptable. Surely a malfunctioning sensor should just disable ABS. Why should it reduce braking performance. Where's the sense in that? Even cleaning out the sensor is a temporary fix as it will most likely happen again. Especially with four sensors. But more worrying is (if I believe the Head of Service at Lexus when he says the ABS sensor cannot cause this to happen) the possibility that it isn't the ABS sensor and the root cause of the issue is still there. End result. My wife will not drive the car. And I can't really blame her. She travels to work and back every day along the M8 motorway so maybe 90% of her everyday journey is at 70MPH. If the issue happens again its likely it will be at that speed. This time she was lucky in that she had literally just come off the M8 onto the sliproad so less traffic. She wants rid of the car. Immediately. So, obvious question, has anyone ever experienced something like this themselves in their Lexus.
  5. I purchased a rx400 h a week ago and days after driving it I know that's the check engine light came on. I did a scan with my OBD scanner to find out it was the air fuel sensor in the catalytic converter. The guy I bought the car from sent used parts to me. To be honest I'm not very happy with that because I don't know one if it's Denso and to if they're going to last. Is there any way to identify if the original denso and to test if they're in good condition?
  6. Hi, new to the forum and a happy owner of a GS430 for few weeks now 🤘 So the car gets low tire pressure warning light along with 'check system' and a red triangle, something I had before and managed to reset. Today, I did long distance trip and at the end got the warning lights again. I inflated the tires, reset the warnings and left it for the day on a parking lot. On my way back I got the warnings again, this time they won't reset. After I reinitialize the system (warning light flashes 3 times, I get the confirmation massage) it jumps right into 'check system' etc. and won't reset. I do the reset in P and with engine on. I checked the toggle on front passenger's side (switch between two sets of tires), but it's definitely not making any difference. I think I probably should go to Lexus for a diagnosis and repair now, no idea how much it'd cost and if there is any other way to disable the sensor for now as I want to change the tires and refurb the wheels soon (I hear these sensors may be costly to replace and may break when removing tires/wheels). Any advice on what to do and if there are any other ways to get it sorted? Thanks! EDIT: more googling and found interesting approach I will try - I have set 'pressure initial' at 44PSI so maybe the pressure is too high for the sensor to work correctly? https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-3rd-gen-2006-2011/445222-no-more-tpms-warning-light-reset-to-lower-pressure.html
  7. Hi all, I introduced myself in the noobies section but thought I'd add something here as well. I've just bought a 2004 (53) LS430 for £4400 with 91k miles in blue. Initial opinion is good although it has its problems. Have done just over 1000miles over the last 2 weeks (Wickford to Crawley 3 days per week) and so far am loving the car. I came from a '98 Honda Legend with unknown mileage and shabby paint, but it was cheap (£900) and did me for 2 years/40k miles. Prior to that had an S320CDI for 2 years that was horribly unreliable, another Legend (120k miles over 10 years) and a couple of Carltons. I need a bigger car as am 6'4" and 27stone. The LS gets about the same fuel economy as the Legends but with 70 more Bhp and better comfort. The S got over 40Mpg but the turbo lag sucked and the reliability was utter *******, however the comfort was the best ever, with the LS a close 2nd. I have a few problems on the LS to sort over the coming months. It needs bank2 sensor1 replacing (heater is duff), the rear left door doesn't lock unless I double lock the car, and there are small rust patches above the windscreen and on the left front door. Otherwise she is in pretty good nick and everything seems to work fine. Have also ordered a Techstream kit so I can change some settings to my liking and will keep you up to date on my progress. Looking forward to owning this one for a while and hoping she will be reliable and fun. Cheers, George
  8. Hello The ear-splitting factory alarm on my 1998 LS400 has been going off inappropriately for a few months now. This usually happen just as I lock it, but not exclusively, or when I switch the engine off. It does not immobilise the vehicle (can be driven with the alarm still sounding) and can only be stopped by unplugging the battery. So far I have dialled down the proximity sensor underneath the centre armrest and changed the batteries in the fobs. Since the alarm doesn't have any noticeable effect other than deafening me, my next move will probably be to find the siren and unplug it. I don't think the vehicle battery is the problem as it's relatively new and doesn't have any issues. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
  9. I have a beams 3sge engine and it starts without an air flow meter but will not start with one. I have tried the following: 1. Placed a volt meter on the sensor and got back positive readings 2. tested multiple sensors and same results 3. Tested the sensor harness back to the computer and receiving positive reading I am not sure what else I can try. Can anyone please advise? Regards, Omar.
  10. Rear parking sensors have never worked since I've owned the car. I always assumed they'd been turned off by the dealer at the previous owner's request. Lexus garage says no - fault is with the reversing aid ECU and buzzer. Say both need replacing at a fitted cost of about £600. Questions: can anyone say where these items are located, whether fitting is easy or difficult, whether they're available as aftermarket items and at what cost?
  11. Hello! new to the forum and to Lexus so hoping some of you wiser owners might have some insight into this issue. Basically a few weeks ago my 2006 Lexus IS220D was crashed (hit & run) into with some force whilst parked up for the night. The driver struck the n/s wheel so hard that it forced the whole car half way up the pavement. So far Ive had to replace the wheel, tyre, complete wishbone set up, the steering rack & steering arms. The car now steers and drives again so thats that side of things sorted, however now when I drive the car its like the brakes are coming on and off by themselves, im thinking that it might be the wheel speed sensor inside the wheel hub? Would really appreciate any feedback from someone whos experienced something like this. Thanks in advance
  12. Hello everyone, currently my car requires two oxygen sensor's both of them does not give a resistance anymore and make the foult to appear. I have another 2 two that i used before but the voltage they give me when heated is too low and their are bad aswell! I have 4 another sensors and they good, but all them 4 are for the very back of the engine, and i don't know if i can to shorten them and put on the closer to cyl 1 bank 1? Are they give the same voltage and has same resistance? I am also looking where could i buy them new is there any good location to get them? Toyota wants 600 Euro its a bit not in my price range. Other part shop's looking 300euro but don't know if they are any good. Thank you for any info provided.
  13. In Ireland, we are now only being contacted for a recall to replace a Gasket and Fuel Delivery Pipe. I know that this was dealt with some time ago in the UK and USA. I drive a2008 IS250, and I have had to replace both pre-cat Air Fuel Sensors; and I was wondering if the failure of these sensors could in any way be related to the problem that is behind the recall?
  14. hi I have just bought a gs300 and have just found out the tpms sensors were removed on every wheel when it had some 450h alloys fitted! Does anyone know of anywhere in North Wales, Wirral, Merseyside that are able to fit and programme after market sensors.... ?? Are there any lexus specialist around the above areas?? cheers dave
  15. GS450h - 2009 model. Built Feb 08. Have had to change Stub Axle complete - part came with no GS450h listed on box label, it fits correctly in suspension arm and plug connector is good. Would it be different to other variants as ABS lights do not go out? Any advice about if disconnecting battery to clear codes is possible? Many Thanks
