  1. I wonder if anyone can shed any light on an issue I am having with my 2005 RX300... please? I noticed a little while ago that, occasionally, under normal (not harsh) braking at low speed, or under normal (not harsh) acceleration from standstill, either the ABS or Traction Control would kick in. The ABS "effect" seemed to be coming from the off-side front and so at a recent service I asked the garage to check the ABS rings and examine whatever they could get into, on all four corners. This they did and reported that everything appeared as it should be. More recently, I was advised that the issue could be a dirty ABS/Speed Sensor (maybe a small piece of road dirt or debris had become lodged etc...) and that if it could be removed it might be cleaned, however, they also had a tendancy to break if not having been removed before and so the best course of action would be to buy a new one and change it completely. This I did and the work was completed just a couple of hours ago ...and I can report that it most definitely appears that the offside front was the culprit because now, pretty much every time I pull away, the Traction Control kicks in! The only thing that has been changed was the sensor (Part Number checked before purchase and fitment), so I can only assume with a new sensor in place the issue has become more apparent. So, can anyone offer me any advice as to what to do next? Is it worth going ahead and changing the sensor ring, just in case, or has anyone else experienced this and has a "fix" that works? Any help/advice/assitance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Nige.
  2. Ok, so getting back into the ISF after the recent snow brought up a good selection of dashboard warning lights. Notably, PCS, ABS, AFS (flashing) and finally Slip Indicator (?). Snow wasn't that bad around us but car was left untouched during that short period. In the process of arranging to get these checked but just checking if anyone has experienced this combo before - I guess some sensor failure (maybe damp)? Drives ok - or at least it did on v.short journey home where I've left it. Andy PS: My other car is a Skoda Citigo, completely the other end of the scale but spending a little time back in it makes me realise what good little runabouts they are.

  5. hello im new here i have been reading other messages but ive not found one like mine .i have a gs300 97 .ive not had the car long .the brakes work as they should as far as i can tell .apart from going very slow and turning sharp .like say pulling into a parking space . the abs cuts in there is no lights on the dash to say there is a prob
  6. Hi everyone. It's not Xmas but might as well be. I had a problem with a worn rear wheel bearing. The car had been used to tow around an exhibition trailer in its early life and at 175,000 miles started to complain. I'm not complaining as 175K miles is still good value. To look at car is immaculate inside and out. Still gives 40MPG and I am still in love with car after 7 years of ownership. Changing the bearing I managed to damage the ABS sensor: and when trying to remove the broken sensor, I damaged the sensor ring. To make matters worse, thinking I could repair the ring, I removed the sensor ring. Duh! What was I thinking. The friend, whose garage I was using to do the work, suddenly needed his garage and so I had to move. I drove the car home and parked up. On the way home. No Speedo. P/S Red light on even though power steering feels okay. ABS light on. Engine light on. VSC complaining. So now I have a replacement hub, with ring, new ABS sensor fitted and all on the car. But all the lights still on. I have tried removing the battery over night. All lights still on except Engine light. Any one with any thoughts before I troll off to my Lexus dealer who will want more money than they value the car at to plug in their OBD reader.

    Hi i have a problem with 1 of my lexus is200. I have 4 of them now lol. I have the abs light on iv plug it up and its not telling me what the problam is.No engine management light on. Can sumone point me in the right direction what to check. Iv pinned it out pin13 and 4 i cant remember off the top of my head which pins it was iv got the right one wrote downwhere. When iv pinned it out the ABS light flashed and 3 bleeps sounded. But the ABS light still stayed on. So i dont no where to go from here with it. So i hope sumone can point me in the right direction. thanks jason
  8. Hi. I have a Lexus RX300 2006. Today the ABS VSC and parking break lights all came on whilst I was in stationary traffic. The parking break was off. Ive looked through the threads on here and cant find any where all 3 lights come on together. Any ideas?
  9. Hello! new to the forum and to Lexus so hoping some of you wiser owners might have some insight into this issue. Basically a few weeks ago my 2006 Lexus IS220D was crashed (hit & run) into with some force whilst parked up for the night. The driver struck the n/s wheel so hard that it forced the whole car half way up the pavement. So far Ive had to replace the wheel, tyre, complete wishbone set up, the steering rack & steering arms. The car now steers and drives again so thats that side of things sorted, however now when I drive the car its like the brakes are coming on and off by themselves, im thinking that it might be the wheel speed sensor inside the wheel hub? Would really appreciate any feedback from someone whos experienced something like this. Thanks in advance
  10. Hi all got an 05 GS300 (MK3) 124,000. plugs and coils were changed at 118,000, at the time one coil failed and was replaced by lexus (before i owned it). Intended to go to the shop today, got to the junction at the end of the road went to pull out and began to misfire, engine was warm. no warning lights came on. Pulled over as soon as i could, turned off and back on hoping to clear it, still there. turned round to head home, still no warning lights. Got about a mile towards home and then the VSC and engine management light came on, but only between 1500-2500RPM. Managed to coax it home, checked the basics (oil water petrol), got the engine cover off to check all the connections to the coils and plugs. Also checked all the fuses to the EFI, ING and INJ points. all seem fine. Having looked through the forums can only find VSC light issues but with no mention of misfires, anybody have any idea what could cause any of this? half expecting failed coil pack or injector. On another point in the top fuse box by the battery i noticed that all the ABS fuses were not were they should be, looks like they have never been there, any clues? KR Ben
  11. OK, so here’s today’s brain teaser that I am hoping one of you experienced mechanics will be able to help me solve. A few months ago my trusty LS400 developed a soft (long travel) brake pedal. Pads and discs at the time looked ok, but I do remember the travel increased after a particularly hard breaking episode on the M5 due to some numbskull in a 5 series BMW (say no more). Checked brake fluid and this was pretty black so changed and bled the system but without improvement. After about a week the ABS pump started to kick in every time I set off (within 10 yards) after starting the ignition. A slight rumble of the ABS pump with vibration in the pedal and then same level of travel on the pedal, this only ever happens once until you restart the engine. The pedal does come hard after pumping three times and then softens upon release. The ABS ECU has no recorded fault in its memory, the ABS light does not come on and all wheel sensors are reporting correctly. The ABS rumble only happens once after engine starts and the car moves, if the car remains stationary the ABS does not kick in. So I am thinking that this is something electro-mechanical that is linked to the wheel speed sensors which is causing the ABS pump to kick in. The problem has not got any worse over the past 4 months and my driving style has adjusted to the long pedal, but I would really like to find a solution. I am just about to change the front discs and pads as they are now a little warn. Whilst this is likely to reduce the pedal travel I do not think it will influence the overall issue. Any ideas?
  12. GS450h - 2009 model. Built Feb 08. Have had to change Stub Axle complete - part came with no GS450h listed on box label, it fits correctly in suspension arm and plug connector is good. Would it be different to other variants as ABS lights do not go out? Any advice about if disconnecting battery to clear codes is possible? Many Thanks
  13. Good Morning everyone, I am new to this forum so hello I have a fantastic Lexus GS300 with 153K and still going strong but sadly i have having a samll issue with the brakes. I have no warning light on the dash board but when i come to a slow stop 5 time in 10 the ABS seem to be cutting in. I have not light flashing when this happens but you can feel it on the pedal and you get a little very quit buzing noise from a relay or something under the steering wheel. I think i can also hear the ABS unit makes a qutie hum. I have lookated the all the fluid levels and all is good, the front tyres were looking a little low so i had new ones fitted and this has not resolved the issue. I am tempted to book it in with my local Lexus specialest but though i would join here and ask you fantastic people. Apart for this small issue and the fact my arial no longer goes up and down the car drives fantastic its quite and smooth. I used to have a LS400 and then a IS200 so working my way through the range :winky: . Any help would be very greatfully recived :zee:
  14. Hi My RX300 (03) failed it's MOT due to the ABS and VSC lights not going out on the dash board. I took the car to a main dealer and they read the error codes, which I was told the main failure was the ABS actuator, plus secondary codes of loss of communication with the Yaw Rate/Acceleration sensor. I have replaced the ABS actuator (used a breakers part as £1500 was a bit steep for an 11 year old car). The lights have still not gone out and so I have hunted out the Yaw Rate sensor to get the part numbers. Do I need to only match the part number or is the serial number also important. Eg, my part number is 89183-48010; serial number 174500-5232 This part is very hard to find, but part 89183-48010; serial number 174500-5233 is relatively easy to find. Can they both be used or do I have to keep all numbers identical? Any help would be great received.

  16. Hi, I wanted to inquiry regarding one problem, which I am having for a few months now. Generally I have two problems: 1) When approaching slowly to full stop while braking sometimes ABS activates without reason 2) When pulling off slowly usually traction control activates and limits throttle So, I thought I might have problems with ABS sensors. I have ordered USB cable with Techstream software out of interest to try to debug the problem :) I have tried to read the sensors data while driving slowly and I got readings, which I expected - if driving slowly, both front sensors read 0s and while driving faster, the readings front and back are the same. Has anybody had a similar problem? What could be the reasons behind and how to solve it? I have recently changed a wheel bearing in one of the front wheels, but the problem hasn't changed. I suppose the technician hasn't checked the ABS sensors. Are they hard to remove? I have found a guide on other forum helping to solve a similar problem on other car: Thanks, Jonas
