IS200 Clean Air / Pollen Filter Change

Description

Change the Air Pollen Filter on your IS200 or IS300

1. Removing the glovebox - take everything out of the glove box, now if you look at the glove box hinges you will see 2 black plastic pins. you might find this bit easier if the glove box is closed

These pins come out by squeezing the tapered end of the pin together with the pliers (not the head end!) and pushing the pin in towards the hinge, once you have got the pin to move, pull the pin out from the head end, repeat this for the other hinge. you can now lift the glove box up slightly and with bit of a twist ( push one end into the dash and pull the other) the glove box comes straight out.

2. With the glove box removed you will now see the blower motor and the plenum chamber for the ventilation system, in the middle of this section u will see a black plastic flat panel about 5cm x 25cm (it has UP printed on the R/H side) just pull on this, it pops right off, behind this panel it the tray for the clean air filter, it has a little thumb tab so you can pull it out, once you have pulled the tray out use the vac to give it a quick clean, it will be covered in dust /bugs so dont drop it in the car!

re-assembley is a straight forward reversal of the instructions APART from the glove box hinge pins - u dont need to squeeze the tapered end to get them back in, they just push in.

Hi there,

I had a look at my filter the other day, and all I done was squeezed both sides of the glovebox together, this allowed it to drop down and then just pulled the filter out, literally 20 seconds. If I had had a new one that would have put it to 25 seconds including the refit.

Am I missing something, or am I just not getting the right filter. I have an IS200 yr 2000.

Regards.
