  1. also first for this one, though just last month, after replacing the ps pump, there was a small leak at that o-ring on the reservoir. it apparently has stopped right now... they include that when you get a rebuilt pump as you have to re-use your reservoir.
  2. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showforum=4 i'd try here or in this forum. can't remember, but there are posts to find and even pics of the solenoid/rack screen and how to clean. also, info on the valve. problem is if it's the screen and you've seen high pressure, it' s already caused leaks in the lines, pump, etc.. that will be hard to fix w/o replacing... sorry if this is the case.
  3. wait wait.... there are couple things to check. the infamous idle air control valve under the pump, which controls the idle speed of the car when turning the wheel. this WILL leak and cause problems. second is the almost as infamous screen on the rack that needs to be cleaned. it's subjected to high pressure, which is why it's a metal screen. it gets clogged, causing very high pressure and restricted fluid, thereby limiting p/s boost. this is written about here and in the us lexus forums. very very common. should be checked before buying a $500 pump.
  4. good thought... i will try there. was just under the car-- no sign of water from the water pump... i'm still baffled.
  5. hi all, have a 92 w/ 130k. everything fine and well maintained, except i'm losing about 1/2 coolant reservoir slowly over every 2 months or so. no smells, no startup mist, no water in oil per oil report, power fine, etc... any thoughts? thanks.
  6. that is interesting and the first i've read of lexus wheels not being great... thanks. so, they do require much maint. in OH? i've not ever had chromed, just polished, cleared, Al, so no experience...
  7. Hi, yesterday i asked about getting other wheels for my 92. The shop in town has chromed lexus wheels for the car. My question is if anyone has had problems with these wheels? corroding? bending, etc... anything? advice? thanks.
  8. right, noel. so many people put regular wheels on, you'd think this would have been as issue. even if they are 'backward', you'd think ANY air movement would be better than none, right? bazza- oem tires were not directional, only wheels. thanks.
  9. hi all, i have a 92 ls400 and the wheels are starting to pit. so i've found some reman'd lexus chrome wheels. they have 3 rights and 1 left. i know these are 'directional', but i don't know if it's functional for the brakes or just aesthetic? thinking.. even if they are for cooling, if i put the 'backward' one in the back, where brakes aren't used near as much, do you think this would be ok? lastly, again thinking they are for looks, people put aftermarket wheels on all the time, apparently to no detriment, right? any thoughts are appreciated...
  10. yes, thanks- have tried that to no avail. there's just no mention of it in the manual. very odd.... JC
  11. Thanks, but that's the 'track' button to go to the previous track. i just want to go back a few seconds, minutes, in the same track, just opposite of the FF button? JC
  12. Hello all, New member enjoying a 92 ls400, trac, nak/cd, air, etc. great car and great sound system, but am i missing something? I can't figure out how to go backward when playing a CD? there is a FF button but no REW. Any comments, suggestions, help? thanks much. John
