  1. My 450h+ is now just over 3 years old and I would like to keep the in-house maps updated so that I can choose between the onboard GPS and CarPlay. With my RAV4 I had to pay for the upgrades after 3 years so I went to the Mylexus website but could find nowhere to pay for the next three years. Is it possible the updates are free for life, or am I missing something?
  2. I am very happy using a granny charger with my 450h+. I programme the charging for over night off peak and in the morning the fairies have “ filled the tank”. It appears that slow, trickle, charging is better for the longevity of the traction battery as well. When I bought my two year old 450h+ the electric range was showing as 59km. By “exercising “ the battery and slow charging overnight my electric range is now 72km. From the usage cycle you describe it would seem that a granny charger is ideal for you.
  3. I bought a 12W solar panel + solar controller as a kit for a few pounds from Amazon which I plugged directly onto the battery terminals in the boot. This kept the 12v battery topped up for three months over winter. Would recommend that solution which does away with the need for mains ( and the anxiety of overheating?)
  4. Many thanks for your replies. Sadly no resolution to the issue. The new battery is showing 3.1v o/c and 2.8v installed. No plastic film. Shall have to ask dealer at next service. Thanks, Stuart
  5. When I bought my second hand 450h+ I was handed two normal key fobs and a key card. The key card was still sealed in its plastic bag and had clearly never been used. I presented the card to the car and had zero reaction. I have now replaced the battery and still no reaction from the car. Does the key card need to be activated in some way or is it, horrors, a dealer issue? Thanks, Stuart
  6. Spoke too soon. Had to log in again today. Why am I being logged out?
  7. Thanks Mick, you’re absolutely correct. She’s clearly thrown a hissy fit after my son logged in as a guest driver. In a fit of jealousy she’s given me the cold shoulder; I’ve not only had to log in again but go through the entire registration process again. However, at the end she went all prissy on me and asked if she could adjust my seat for me, so I think we’ve made up. Time will tell. Thanks for the advice.
  8. Every time I start the car recently a message comes up on the screen asking me to agree the Ts & Cs for the use of the multimedia system. If the car is in gear the only option is to refuse and if the car is stationary I have to tick the two boxes to agree. This is becoming very irritating. I can’t find any reference in the user manual. Does anybody know how to stop this happening, please?
  9. Will be very interested to see how the RX compares to the NX. Nice Christmas present 👏👏
  10. I recently upgraded from a RAV4 PHEV to a 450h+ and am rather surprised at the large difference in fuel economy figures, given that they have (ostensibly) the same battery pack and motors. The Lexus is only 30 kg heavier. RAV 4 : 53 miles of battery autonomy; 50 mpg (5.5 ltr/100km); 3.3m/kWh (18.6 kWh/100km) 450h+: 39 miles of autonomy; 39 mpg (7.2 ltr/100km); 2.2 m/kWh (28.6kWh/100km) This is with the same driver on the same roads, same driving cycles on economy setting. Do fellow members with 450h+ get similar figures? Thanks, Stuart
  11. I rely on my disklok when parked in public spaces. Why is it considered a waste of money? . . seems a very solid, visible, deterrent to me . . . . 🤷
  12. I charge mine from a domestic socket, but it is a separate circuit direct from the fuse box ( but probably overkill). Very east to programme the charging times from inside the car; mine is programmed to charge from 00h05 until it is fully charged. No need for any timers on the wall plug. I find the charging cable too short which makes it a tight fit to walk behind the car when plugged in, but doable.
  13. I’m very new to my Lexus and have yet to master the navigation and other systems. You need to be a Tom Daley to deep dive into some of the menus. I need to persevere with the navigation but find it is too easy to switch to Google Maps.
  14. I have a disklok, small size, which fits the steering wheel of my 450h perfectly. Happily I’ve never had occasion to discover how effective it is, but it certainly looks the part, especially in bright yellow. Can’t miss it. It comes with a steering wheel protective cover and a study carrying bag and the whole lot fits nicely in the rear passenger footwell underneath the driver’s seat. works for me.
