  1. I used to have a GS300 Sport and that is still by far my most missed car - hence why I feel I want another Lexus - though a GS is a bit too big for my needs now. At the moment I am in a Saab oil burner so agricultural is not too much of a problem though I am reading of the dreaded EGR issues (that I currently have) The 250 is preferred as it is a slush box and the EGR issue. so anything that I should specifically look out for or things to be aware of ? Cheers
  2. I am looking at getting myself either an IS 200D or an IS250 (2011 or later) Still not sure which, but I am erring on the side of an IS250 Auto. A colleague here has recently got himself a BMW and knows I am considering one of these and said he was put off a Lexus because of gearbox issues. I did ask if this was the manual or the auto boxes. He said both ! I have read about problems on IS's upto 2008 with a heavy flywheel and the odd autobox with insufficient oil and maybe a bad solenoid or few. but nothing else. So in light of this, I have 2 questions Are there known gearbox issues on the IS200D or the Is250 Auto ? Any thing I should be looking out for / checking when I start to look at the cars cheers
  3. Well, Tuesday was real fun in the snow. so much that even the trains gave up so I went home. I did this and checked the tyres and one rear was well low on tread and the other was near to bald. New tyres this weekend and I will see how it handles then
  4. Not has hot as those I had in the Carlton, but in that car you would get a sweaty crack. The heat is fine as I had to compare them, but I tend not to use them as leather soon heats up when you sit on it. - I guess leather over material makes a difference as well. If you do use the heaters, remember to treat the leather more frequently if you have it.
  5. What tyres do other people have on their Mk1 GS300's ? These are the 18" 245/40 tyres. Last Wednesday it aqua planed through some puddles on the motorway which was not too nice, and on Saturday I had some fun with snow and ice. I have never had a problem like this on other cars so got to assume it is the tyres. At the moment the car has a P-Zero's on it. Jules
  6. So the GS300 Mk 1 has 9 speakers. so where is the 9th ? I have one on the dash one on each mirror point one in each door and one of the back shelf total of 8. Everything says it has 9. Oh, Dension is now installed and the FM Modulator is far superior to the old one I had.
  7. It is possible to take the original unit out of the car and out a 3rd part one in ? I want to add a Denison MP3 unit, but as this can work direct with some units I wonder if it is possible to take the original unit out, add say a Sony and then add the Denison underneath. Is the cabling standard ? or do Halfords stock the convertors as they do for cars like BMW ? Cheers
