And if it were a diesel you would have paid 300 pounds for the 10 years. So you would have 4579 yo buy another Lexus!!!

Confirmed from another VW driver with 09 plate. They pay 30 pounds a year.

And if it were a push bike, I'd be even better off. You pays your money and you takes your choice. And as for buying a diesel ?! LOL

    How can that be right ? , are you sure it isn’t £30 a month ? I had a 59 Jaguar, the Tax was £235 pa .

Just recently renewed tax on 2014 IS300 h and was very pleased it was still on £10 .

makes up for the high servicing costs

It is right. My 56 IS250SE-L MM Manual (Sunroof) is currently £555 per annum. And no - I don't mind paying it at all because I waited 18 months in 2009 to get the car with the exact specification (manual, sunroof) I wanted, so a little thing like car tax wasn't going to get in my way. I bought her in 2010 from Lexus Guildford (Paul Care highly recommended) with 6.8k miles on the clock. 9 years later and I've added 81k to that total - and loved every mile in the process. I shall keep her until she drops - which is unlikely, by the way ! This is the amount I have paid in car tax since 2010 - worth every penny !!

    Glad to be of help.

My missus has an MX-5. Smashing little cars. Now that we do need the deflectors for as it has good old halogens.

We took the MX to Lake Annecy and on to Chamonix. With the roof down, that car really came into its element up in the mountain passes. The views were just amazing. It was a tad cramped on the longer parts of the journey though. We also had to travel fairly light.

Did a similar trip last year down to the Auvergne region ... but in the IS250 .... lovely way to travel.

This year we are off to nearish to Bergerac. Can we find a suitable property??? Retirement beckons with a warm smile..... and a glass or two of the red stuff.

    Hi Normski

Not sure whether your reference to finding a property was for a purchase, but if you're looking for somewhere to stay very near to Bergerac I can heartily recommend http://www.beausoleilholidays.com/

We're due to visit there on Sunday ...... subject to the fuel strikes of course !!!!!

    Regards

  4. Had my 40k service on my 56-plate IS250 SE-L Manual MM at Lexus Sidcup this morning. Took 2 hours while I was partaking of their tea and biscuits. Total price on the bill came to £342.23. This is the first of my three services as part of a service plan (see above for details).

Very pleased with the service, and would recommend them, although my car is in shock through being cleaned inside and out !

  5. Hi, Guys.i've just been quoted £560 for my next service in the new year, for a 6yr/40k service on my 06 sel. from my lexus dealer, is this the going rate. Iam getting a price from my local toyota dealer, but i feel lexus are holding me to ransom a bit as the car has to be serviced to validate the lexus warranty. and when there charging £20 to change batteries in the fobs,[ichanged my self which cost me £3.00 for 2 and 5 mins to change].so can anybody confirm this quote one way or other. thanks in advance

    Hi Glenn

You don't state where you live, but as other posters herein have stated, email a few of your local dealers and do quote comparisons. There can be significant variations. I have the same vehicle as yourself on a 56-plate, but a manual, but has only covered 14k miles. I did exactly the same email trawl and have recently taken out a 3-year service plan with Lexus Sidcup (Ask for Samantha Artlett, 01322 611106 - mention my name and maybe I'll get a referrer's fee !) to cover the 40k, 50k and 60k services for £1094.76 (the dealer knocked off £191.07 to gain my business). Payments are being made over 20 months on interest free credit (are there any three sweeter words in the language, other, of course, than those you always want to hear from your girlfriend - "I'm not pregnant").

I've not had the first service yet, but it's imminent. Oh, the price also includes free MOTs for the duration of the service plan, free puncture repair and 10% discount on additional work.

Let us know how you get on, and I shall do likewise with my experience with Lexus Sidcup.

  6. Hi there, does anyone know where i can actually get a deal on the is250c se-l. I have tried my local dealer but apart from throwing in 2 years free servicing he wont budge on the price.

i have heard they may be more reasonable up north but does the fact its a new model make it less likely I'll get a deal?

I presume you're aware of this weekend's IS specials? They should throw in £1000 as a loyalty bonus as an existing IS driver, plus £1550 finance contribution if appropriate. Apologies if this doesn't include the IS250C SE-I.

I agree they're losing the plot somewhat. You would have thought given the current financial situation that they would move heaven and earth to get bums on (leather) seats.

Go figure! I'm still :tsktsk: off that they've deleted the one option I demand in any car - a sunroof, so no IS250 SE-I for me !

Maybe I will go for that Mazda 6 MPS after all ............

    Regards

  7. Seeing as they just did the facelift for 09 I doubt there'll be another proper one so soon. The USB port is a nice touch though, interesting about the sunroof - are they making it standard across the range or removing its availability completely? If that latter that is a very odd move indeed.

The sunroof has been deleted already as an option across the board. This is the reason I shall no longer buy a Lexus.

I'm gutted, as a sunroof and climate have always been a minimum requirement for me and I don't see why I should compromise.

    Looks like they've done a BMW !

I was closing in on buying my first IS250. It would have been an SE-I (with sunroof naturally!) in Cadoxton Slate.

    Absolutely gutted.

    Reason given? Insufficient takeup.

    Regards

  8. Hey Guys,

I want to change my IS300 front break discs & pads. Lexus gargage charging me some good amount of money, hence decided to take it to local garage. This guy insists Delphi Lockheed Break discs are better than Mintexs'. have any one of you tried this brand before?

Out of interest, how much were you quoted by the Lexus dealer? Presumably Lexus Croydon?

    Regards

  9. Just got back from Lexus Croydon having had a full set of alloys replaced under warranty. :) Car is just coming up to 2 years old, so I shall keep an eye on the new ones for subsequent corrosion.

As expected, service excellent, although like others on this topic, I'm somewhat disappointed that the corrosion problem exists at all.

Anyone know whether the new IS suffers from the same problem?

    Regards
