  1. You say that you have had all your problems fixed !! does that include the "lurching gearbox" ? Lexus Bracknell have told me that there is nothing wrong with mine, but the lurching/hesitant gearbox is terrible.

I took mine back to the dealers a month ago having lived with the lurch since new.

They upgraded the ECU software, and now the dreaded lurch is much reduced ( although occasionaly evident).

I am much happier with the car now, so suggest you contact your dealer!

  2. Does anyoine know how to disable the intrusive alarm that is set off when the seat belt to an occupied front seat is not fastened? Thanks.

    Try this:

    1) Turn the Power ON

    2) Set trip meter to "ODO"

    3) (you may need to Power OFF at this point)

    4) Turn the Power ON

    5) Hold down the ODO/Trip button for 10 seconds

    6) While keeping the ODO/Trip button down, put the driver seatbelt on.

    7) You will see b_on / b_off choice in the ODO meter, make your choice with the ODO/Trip button

Drove me mad on my RX300, went off if I unclipped too soon just before reversing onto the drive.

  3. My Rx 300 has now been in for over 4 weeks with vey vague answers as to when I will see it again.

Very dissapointed with 'customer servive' and the Kia loan car.

Starting to think someone is taking the p.

    Kia loan car?? Oh dear.

Mines been with lexus since early december and i was last told that they were not expecting any parts until the 16th jan - probably.

On the upside, ive had an IS250SE (that was too small) , then an RX 400 (mmmm I want one) and now a GS450H from lexus GB until mine is fixed.

Perhaps you need to complain a little? :-)

  4. well the RX went in for a service having had the recall appointment cancelled.... guess what, they inspected the master cylinder and have impounded it, as it has the problem they were originally looking for in the recall that was cancelled! still no parts available, nor any firm date when they will be - maybe 2 weeks.

so watch out if you re due a service, you may be stuck with a loan car for a while.

  5. From experience I know that they are just car dealers - nothing more or less. The lexus brand image no longer holds any mystique for me im afraid. Perhaps if they had come up with a better explanation at the time then I wouldnt have been suspicious.

To be honest, Im not really bothered about the fuel and bubbly, nor the brake servo.

What Im hoping for is a brake failure in the meantime so I can crash and sue for a tidy sum. Or my executor if I dont make it :P .

Oh and while theyre about it, they can fix the damn lurching. Pursuit of perfection my :tsktsk:

  6. My RX was due for its inspection on 19th, but it was cancelled by the dealer on 18th who said that Lexus GB have postponed any further recalls and they would call me again if necessary as and when required to re-arrange an appointment.

Just a bit suspicious that as my service is about due, that they have decided to save themselves a bottle of champers and some petrol!

Anyone else had a similar experience?

  7. Found a rather frustrating issue with the factory-fitted alarm in the RX400h...

    Two scenarios:

    1. Leave the windows down and sunroof open... do NOT lock the vehicle. After about half an hour or so, the car doors lock themselves and the alarm arms itself. Of course with the windows and sunroof open, the alarm then sounds a couple of minutes later because of the ultrasonic sensors.

    2. As above, but DO manually lock and set the alarm, but pressing the button on the overhead console to disable the ultrasonic sensors. Works fine for half an hour, then the doors DOUBLE lock themselves (similar lines to #1 above) and the Ultrasonic sensors are reactivated ... of course the alarm sounds a few minutes later.

In this hot weather, there are times that I want to actually leave the car open, for obvious reasons -- especially if I'm in the immediate vicinity of the car.

Anyone know how to override the "mind of its own" behaviour?

    Leland

I was told when I bought my RX300 that the button to disable the interior sensors doesnt work on UK models - from experience, I have to agree.

I too sometimes wish to leave the roof open in this heat, so hav taken to locking the car with the key only, so the alarm doesnt get set - fortunately I park by the cctv at work :)

  8. :offtopic: May I suggest that we all stop breathing for 30 seconds each hour whilst we own an rx, to compensate for the extra we emit whilst driving.

Also when an environ "mentallist" tells you we re heating up the earth, remind him that 700,000 years ago the sea level was 120m lower and that the UK was under 2km of ice.

Even you re hardened enviro"mentallist" may have to switch on his 3kw fan heater if such conditions return.

and while im ranting ... also tell him that when all the oils been burned up (in 60 years time apparently), we wont be able to emit any more co2 from burning it.

AND, when then sun goes supernova in 5 billion years, its gonna get very warm even at your polar ice caps.

Your honour I rest the case for the defence.

  9. Has anyone else here been invited to the Somerley house open road event on the 13th July?

I had an invitation which I accepted, then today had a letter saying "due to an overwhelming number of acceptances received for this event we have had to cap numbers for each of the 3 sessions".

It then goes on to say Im no longer invited as I responded to late. By way of apology I have been offered an extended test drive of the model of my choice - hmmm, something I thought they would offer to any potential or existing customer.

Anyway, have put my complaint in writing to the dealer and Lexus GB.

Lexus, dont invite me and then say I cant come, I thought you were building a brand with your customers! And heres a tip, send out only as many invitations as people you can cope with, then you wont :tsktsk: your existing customers.

  11. Hi group, I have been lurking a while but this issue has made me register!

I traded my IS300 for a 2004 RX300Se, and have noted the same problem from day 1. In fact I noticed it in the demonstrator that I borrowed for a day, before purchasing. When I mentioned it to the salesman, he just said he d never noticed such an effect.

I find it happens mainly when I slow down to a crawl (may 3or 4 mph) then the lightest touch on the throttle causes the surge forward. It as if the engine changes down into 1st gear a bit too early.

Anyway, it spoils an otherwise great car, so add me to the list please!
