  1. Not to destroy your dreams, but u're sure you have the right car for this power output?? :winky:

At least the right engine and transmission..... :tomato:

That was my FIRST thought Roadrash! I've seen several projects derailed because of failed transmissions. I'm very impressed, speechless even, with the power squeezed out of his 1GFE, but I'll be 5 times as impressed if the tranny holds up. :driving: This is exactly why I've delayed modding my Tezza, I'm still uncertain as to the strength of my tranny. For this reason alone I've been considering a complete engine+tranny swap or ... *cough, cough* getting myself another car :tomato:

Keep us all posted tho, I'm really keen to see how well the tranny holds up :D

  2. Ok guys,

    Sorry about the mini-war I started :-) ... c'mon guys, it's XMAS!!!! :hehe:

Hey Mat, I NEVER said I was ordering from the US, I merely stated that I saw them on that site. I havent made a final decision yet as to what I will order and where I am ordering from.. :whistling:

The main reason I was thinkin of this kit is because:

    1. I'm seriously considering a 1J - or maybe a 2J transplant..(once the resources are there - financial, avaliability of parts, downtime of vehicle, helpfulness of someone who has done this b4, etc) I own a GT4 that I can use while the Tezza is ungergoing surgery so I am not overly concerned with downtime.

    and

    2. My stock setup is worn...seriously worn...I prefer an upgrade instead of stock replacement parts.

I do know I need to upgrade my suspension first, even b4 I think of a transplant, so I thought the coilover kit was a good start ..

    or am I wrong?

  3. Hey guys,

Was not sure which section to post in, so I'll try here. I have a friend who has a 2002 Altezza GXE10 with automatic transmission. He has a problem which seems to have even the local Toyota dealer stumped. He gets in, turns his key, the engine will turn and turn, but it will NEVER start. :-O

    Where should he start looking?

    Thanks in advance...

  4. Seems I opened a can of worms!!! We had a serious 3S vs 1G vote here bit it seems the thread is leaning towards the 1G. Hmmm B)

Hey Dave, if I can acheive my HP goals (or come close) with the 1G then I'd happily go that route and save myself the hassle of an engine swap. :whistling:

So keep us all posted! :driving:

  5. Hiya,

I've been deliberating over this for some time now but I can't seem to decide what route to take? I had a Celica GT-Four which was easy & fun to mod, all the way up to 396hp. I'm EXTREMELY tempted to re-use the 3sgte as I know that engine so well. I'm afraid it will snap my gearbox tho I aint too confident in the Tezza's box :geek:

    I was thinking:

    1. Keep my 1GFE, get the stronger internals (most likely from Dave @ Prolex), turbo kit and go that way. I can't seem to find much parts for this engine tho (headgasket, head bolts, cams, adj cam gears, etc). Will the stock gearbox take the abuse tho?

    2. Use the 3S-GTE, and mod it to my heart's content (huge aftermarket for that engine). :hehe: :D :P I know my GT4's box held up to 400hp, but can the stock Altezza box do the same?

    3. Step up to the 1JZ. :driving: I wouldn't mind doing this except that I can't seem to find much info on this engine (OEM and aftermarket parts). Am I looking in the wrong place?

    4. The 2JZ. At the moment this option seems a bit too pricey 4 me tho :(

    What do y'all think?

  6. ...Got to get myself an English manual!

    Hey Chiba,

I ordered my English handbook from this site. I believed they translated it from the Japanese handbook. The only key I have is the key with the wireless door lock transmitter.

I've never heard of Johnny-Five until now, hmmmm, seems I missed out on some fun, Mr. Jiberjaber!!!

    Regards B)

  7. Hi,

Thanks for the input so far, I have 3 questions though:

    1. Where is this metal tag located?

    2. My car is a 2001 model, did these come with the metal tag you spoke about?

    3. Wouldn't the VIN/chassis # suffice for Toyota?

Though it's pricey, I don't mind paying £130 for the peace of mind knowing I have a spare key lying around. :winky:

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Hi guys,

My car was shipped with only one key. I figured I could have it copied (like I have for previous cars I owned) but the design of the Altezza key has shops here stumped. I need a spare key but everyone is referring me back to Toyota. Is there anyone here who can help me or point me in the right direction? If I lose my only key, I'm doomed :crybaby:

    Thanks in advance.

  9. People,

It seems as if my Tez didn't come with a factory installed alarm - unless it has been disabled. It has keyless entry and trunk opener but when I simulate an intrusion no alarm sounds off. With all the attention since I bought it last week I think auto security is priority #1! ;)

    1. What advice do you have for me before I undertake this venture?

    2. Is there any preferred brand of car alarm I should purchase?

    Thanks,

  10. Hehehe

Yes we are that size, well almost. Barbados is 166 sq. miles - really small dot on the world map :)

Hmmmm ... great idea about the beach ... maybe I'll take the Tezza there and take some pics there!! You should see heads turn as I drove it for the first time yesterday! Everyone simply adores the platinum color btw :hehe:

    don't touch that dial! :D

  11. Thanks for the b'day greetings everyone!

Actually when I took a close look @ the car I remembered you Niraj and your plat-ice vote over on the "Color" thread. Now I see why you and the others love the color! Looks dammmn sweet under the moon as well :hehe:

I'm still as excited about black tho, once it's done correctly! :yahoo:

She needs front shocks and wheel bearings, other than that she's perfect! Hmmm ... now that I've mentioned shocks & bearings, why don't I hop on over to the suspension threads ... :mat:

  12. Thanks guys,

Pics are forthcoming ... should have them up by weekend. The color appears to be platinum-ice. Looks silver, but with a slight hint of something else, not quite sure :driving:

As for mods, they will be cosmetic/audio at first (bodykit, HID lamps, stereo) but having owned a heavily modded Celica GT-Four I know the speed bug will bite soon. It doesn't help that I have a lonely 3SGTE sitting around waiting for some TLC and a companion. I am having visions of a marriage between my Tez and this lonely 3SGTE! :shifty::whistling:

    stay tuned ...
