  1. Well guys, I am down to £15k now for a 1year old IS200 and not a single stinking call!  I wonder if it is the time of year.....

Our new Doberman arrives in a few weeks time, I need to get an estate car pretty quick!  :s

I know the feeling! I have had my IS300Nav on eBay twice now for the past 3 weeks and not even a bid, plenty of silly offers though like £6k for a 51 plate !!!

  2. Used Lexus IS prices have taken a big drop recently,I have had my IS300 NAV on Ebay and advertised locally for the past week or so but not much interest at all, even at a price much lower than I paid for it in June this year, seems I am going to have to reuce it further and take a big loss.

People know there is a new model due out and are using this as a bargaining tool to try and get the original IS at a much lower price.

Was yours the blue one with Styling Kit on a few weeks back?

No mine is Platinum Ice and is re-advertised on eBay at the moment, had lots of emails making silly offers but I am not desperate to sell at a silly price.

  4. I bought my 51 plate IS300 in June from Lexus Liverpool for £13500 with 43k miles and satnav.

During the first 6 weeks it needed a new Battery which wasn`t covered by the warranty but Lexus Carlisle have been excellent and changed it free as a goodwill gesture even though they never sold me the car.It also needed 2 front shock absorbers which were fixed at Carlisle under warranty.

I don`t know if the RAC report should have mentioned the shocks problem because Lexus Liverpool never gave me a copy of the report,I am also still waiting for my RAC breakdown cover but after chasing the matter up several time with Liverpool and getting nowhere im going to contact RAC direct.

On the Lexus website it says all their approved used vehicles will not have been involved in an accident.

Price looks about right considering the low mileage:

Prices are based upon 40K miles

    Cost New ('01)  £ 29015

    Franchised Dealer  £ 13470

    Ind Dealer           £ 12920

    Private Good  £ 12265

    Private Poor  £ 10185

    Part Exchange  £ 11280

  5. I bought the car from Lexus Liverpool who were ok but I have had it into Lexus Carlisle a couple of times lately and they have been excellent. The Battery failed after 6 weeks of ownership and they replaced it as a good will gesture because it wasn`t covered by warranty.

When it was in for the Battery to be fitted I asked them to check the suspension as there was a very slight knocking noise now and again and they said it was coming from the shock absorbers so they fitted new ones no problem.

Slightly off topic, the car is a 51 plate and I got 12 months Lexus warranty on it,what paperwork should I have for the warranty cover and RAC membership etc?

All I have got from Lexus Liverpool was a receipt and the log book a couple of weeks later.

Should I have got an RAC membership pack in the post?

I was told that it was going to be checked over by the RAC and given a report before I bought it, should I have got a copy of this RAC report too??

  6. I just had 2 new front shock absorbers fitted to my IS300 under warranty but ever since I got it back on Friday the braking seems strange.

When I have nearly got full right steering lock and I am braking(example doing a 3 point turn) when the car is nearly at a standstill the brakes seem to release for a split second as though the wheels have locked up and the ABS has released brake pressure then braked again, there is also a creaking groaning type of sound. I have done this on several different types of road surface and it happens nearly every time but it does not do it when using left lock.

Anyone have an Idea what might be causing it?

  7. I went to my local dealer today and explained everything to them again, they said having the aircon on and also moving the seats would take a fair bit of charge out of the Battery, they tested the Battery and said it wasn`t in top condition and needed to b replaced. They warranty doesn`t cover the Battery but as I have only had the car a few weeks they agreed to a replacement as a good will gesture.

    Thanks for all the replies.

  8. The gauge on the dash shows it has 13.8v with engine running, the RAC man checked the charge on the Battery etc with a multimeter and said it was all ok,the car starts first time every morning but if its left with the ignition switched on for a couple of minutes it won`t start.

The car is a 51 plate not a brand new one,it has done 43k,stereo is standard.

  9. I have owned an IS300 for about 6 weeks now and it has run perfectly except for a Battery problem which has happened twice now.

A couple of weeks after buying it we were parked in a car park and the engine was not running but the climate control was running and so was the radio, the ignition was on and also the satnav screen,we were parked for about 5 minutes and when I tried to start the car all I could hear was a rapid clicking noise coming from what I guess was the starter motor and the engine would not turn over.

I phoned my local Lexus dealer who said it sounded like a flat Battery and that I should call the RAC.

The RAC arrived and the car started first time after he had connected the jump leads,he checked that the car was charging up the Battery and that the Battery itself was in good condition and everything was fine but he gave me a form to give to my Lexus dealer to say the Battery wasn`t up to much so I could get a replacement under warranty.I explained what had happened to the dealer but they said It wouldn`t be a Battery problem as the car had been starting no problem before and after the breakdown and that we had probably flattened the Battery by moving the electric seats with the engine not running.

The same problem just happened again today,I was talking to a friend,he jumped in the car turned the ignition on so he could see what the satnav screen looked like and we chatted for about 2 minutes,I told him to start up the engine and take the car for a drive but all we heard was the ticking from the started motor,we connected some jumps leads and it started first time and has been no problem since, the electric seats were never moved so does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
