  1. I've had my IS200 Sport since I was 18 and my first years premium was £1800, second year was £1200 through Eagle Star Direct (Zurich).

Its in my own name, don't have any points and got 1 years NCB for getting Pass Plus.

My renewal is this month but I made one claim last year so I'm hoping it doesn't sky rocket :-o

  2. Always park in a secluded (but well lit area), preferably next to other nice cars. I usually find other Lexus drivers park next to me.

This is something I do too. Just remember to avoid BMW drivers, those ppl are in such a rush to get from place to place in their company cars they often don't care what they hit!

Also, I can recommend a company called ProFinish Dents who came out to fix a ding on my car when some silly (*ahem* BMW) driver opened her door into my car while there were three people sitting in the back of my car (pays to have tints :D).

Anyway, insurance company took it in and their approved bodyshop wanted to strip my baby and redo her... and relieve the insurance company of £500+ for the privilege. Profinish came and did it privately for around £80.

They can't fix everything and its important to get it seen to as soon as possible. They will warn you how likely it is that they'll be able to carry out a successful repair. In my case they said it might be difficult to get the ding out without cracking the paint but they managed to do it ok in the end.

  3. Credit card fraud on the Internet is rare but when it does happen the criminals usually manage to obtain the details of a large number of cards in one go.

The most common place for this type of fraud to occur is when you go out and part with your card for a few minutes (like at a restaurant). In these situations the staff are usually paid about £100 for each card they swipe into a hand-held card reader. For Gold, Platinum and Black cards additional bonuses are paid to the swipers.

The banks don't particularly care, it is the merchant that loses out as the banks will take money from them if an order is placed with a fraudulent card. The merchants are often powerless to do anything since the police do not have the resources to investigate and the merchant themselves might be small and not have the resources in tracking down the fraudsters.

Banks need to be forced to take greater measures to protect merchants. For every fraudulent transaction carried out with a credit card, the customers are reimbursed by the banks and the banks take the money from the merchant.

This hurts our economy, the merchants either have to charge more for their goods to cover the cost of fraud or in some cases completely go out of business. :(

  4. A very close friend of mine has recently been told to leave her college for postings she made online on her LiveJournal (www.livejournal.com).

She was stopped on her way to work one morning and given a letter saying she'd been expelled with immediate effect. No trial, no chance to explain herself, no respect for her freedom of speech.

For the full story please read: http://www.dangerousideas.org/ or a mirror at http://www.hosting53.com/mirrored/index.html

Does anyone else agree that her treatment has been a just little harsh?

If anyone else feels strongly about Rachel's treatment then please be kind enough to show your support by contacting the president of the college.

  5. I was there Friday and Saturday afternoon, met a few members and enjoyed myself. LOVED the cars and was ashamed that I hadn't cleaned mine before turning up...

Anyway, thanks to all the organisers and everyone that turned up for a great weekend. I'm looking forward to next year already :)

  6. Is anyone coming to this event?

For best effect we'd need 5+ people turning up. Please use the events system to register yourself if you are coming. If we don't have enough people by Tuesday then it might be best to cancel or reschedule this for a night where more people will turn up.

  7. I know this may sound odd, but perhaps what we need is more normally law-abiding people to drive without insurance ?

I pay £1200 a year on insurance, in theory I would have to get stopped by the cops once every 2 months before it would become cost effective for me to get insurance... hmm.... tempting!!

Once the government see half the drivers in the country figuring this out and driving without insurance maybe they might come up with tougher laws... at that time we can go back to being law-abiding :D

How the **** did you get thrown out of that place?

My mate hit one of the bouncers in the face (not on purpose... back flip gone wrong) and we didn't get thrown out for that.

They were being super snotty about dress code, despite the fact that we were on an expense night out, and spending SHEDLOADS of money in the place! It all got a bit unpleasant and they asked us to leave!!! So we did!

Hmm, never got that before... maybe they just didn't like you ;)

Anyway, if you're willing to give the place another shot then why not come along :D

  9. Hi everyone

Planning to throw a club night on the 21st of June in Central London.

The place is Tiger Tiger, just off Picadilly Circus. Lots of parking available at St James' Sq. and St James' Place nearby (although some of it is 'residents only' so park carefully).

We've not had one of these before and I thought it might be a good thing to try since the curry night went so well.

Planning to meet around 8:30, have a meal and then hit the club. Anyone looking for more info on the venue should check out http://www.tigertiger-london.co.uk

  10. I never, ever speed. Especially not on the Marlow Bypass or M4 on the way to the pub from the curry house. Neither do any of the othe Lexus' or Toyotas that were following :whistling::ph34r:

...or trying to follow in my case! I know so many ppl that've been booked by the cops on that bypass that I was trying not to speed. It was a choice of keeping up or getting lost though :iraqi-info-minister:

  11. Ah, ok, any night is fine - 'specially if it's local ;)

Jonathan's is nice - pasta/pizza place. If you are after a more 'authentic' Italian meal, Simon can fix us up something really nice, really, really good. There's an Italian restaurant in Windsor where he is friendly with the owner and staff. We could get the top floor tables reserved for us with our own bar. Prices are usually around £25 per head.

Let me know if it's of interest in case there's any problems with booking up Jonathan's.

Claire, what's the name of the Italian in Windsor? I'm crazy for anything Italian... cars, food, women... everything!

  12. My mum totally freaks out with my driving... I guess hitting 3 figures on the speedo isn't a clever thing to do

Then again... my dad is always telling me to do some lethal over-taking manoever or to speed up.....

Which parent do I listen to??? I get so confused !!!
