  1. Just a quick question about the amp in my IS200SE.

If it is a 6 channel amplifier, 2 channels will power the front two and 2 channel will power the rear 2, and 2 channel will power the other smaller speakers on the rear shelf, that correct?

However, if I take out the 4 speakers on the rear shelf and just replace with a pair of slightly modified 6x9 speakers, I will then have 2 spare channels as there is now only 2 speakers as opposed to 4.

With these 2 spare channels, am I right in thinking I can connect a subwoofer? I understand the amp is not designed for this soI will not get much bass, but it will give more bass than standard, is this possible?

    Cheers

  2. Just wacked some 6500K bulbs in mine, they are propper blue but like aido said, there really aint much different to the brightness of them. The higher the colour rating e.g. 6500k, the bluer they are. The most you can get in HB3/4 bulbs for the lexus is 6500k, more than that, you start going into HID conversions. However normal european H4 bulbs you can get hold of in 8000K which are really blue. If you want a blue bulb go for higher k's, if you want a brighter bulb go for higher wattage.

    Hope this helps.

  3. there not 6x9, there a larger non DIN size

Just spent ages trying to get my head round this. On my 1999 IS200 SE they are clearly 6x9's on the rear shelf as I have measured them with a tape measure. Also, I cannot seem to see any other speakers of any sort on the rear shelf. I am sure my system is only a 6 speaker system.

    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!

  4. Right, I must be going completely insane then ! I'm sure my old SE only had 6 speakers .........

Ok, so if I have 8 speakers in my 99 SE, the front has 4 (2 tweeters and 2 mid range), the back obviously has 4 like you said. I know it has the large ones on the back shelf and apparently another 2 on the shelf too. Anyone know what size speakers they are in the back shelf as I would like to uprate them. I understand the front components are 17cm (6.5") but what are the ones in the rear. I would have thought they were 6x9's but you are all saying there are 2 others with these rear shelf speakers, what size are they?

    Cheers

  5. I have a 1999 IS200 SE and it has the front components and rear 6x9's, so that adds up to 6 channels/speakers for the amp. I gather there is an 8 speaker system you can get in a lexus IS200.

My amp in mine currently is obviously a 6 channel amp, however I want an 8 speaker system instead of a 6 speaker system. Is it just a case of taking out the current amp and replacing with the 8 channel amp and then adding another 2 speakers? I assume so, just want to double check. Or is my current amp an 8 channel amp but with just 6 speakers off it with room for two more?

    Cheers

  6. Just got a lExus IS200 SE and was just wondering if there are any ecu upgrades available for it like a superchip or something similar. Just want an easy and effective boost in power without breaking the bank however the only things I have seen are full on Japanese Piggy Back ECU's.

    Cheers

  7. I have just bought a 1999 Lexus IS200 which has the standard lexus navigation within it, hasnt been updated as yet. However, I want to go to Alton Towers and it could not find this which is understandable, yet it couldnt find Alton at all neither any of the surrounding towns or roads.

Is there an updated disk I can buy, if so, how much and will it make much difference as Alton Towers was around in 1999 when the car/nav was made so surely it should be on this disk. Other than that, it makes more sense using a simple road map rather than spending thousands on a Navigation like people do.

If someone could get back to me that will be great.

    Cheers

  8. Hi all, just a quick question. Got an IS200 SE 1999 With front component speakers in the doors and on the rear shelf I think they are 6x9's.

Anyone know what size the front components are in my car and can anyone confirm they are 6x9's in the rear.

Also I dont want to change my stereo as I like the standard lexus 6cd changer in the front, however I want a sub of some sort, anyway of installing one using the standard headunit?

    Thanks

  9. You Jammy git then Jasper!

Only been a memeber a few days and can i just say, what an interesting forum compared to toyotagtturbo.com that i used to be a member of. Just been reading the previous replys in this topic.

Well I have a Lexus IS200 SE and am I right in thinking that if I call Lexus Teeside and ask for that guy, I can get each headlight £63.36, so a total of £126.72 including vat and delivery to my door, that right? That really is a great price seeing as though prolex want like £360. I assume that Teesides prices will be different to my local Lexus Dealer in Bracknell?

Do you have a contact number and full name of this guy I need to ask for? They take payment over the phone?

    Cheers lads!

  10. Also after a nice back box on my 1999 IS200. As you know the exhuast on the 1999 IS200 is a bit grubby, all I want to do is change it to a nice slash cut back box made from stainless that does not get real loud if you know what I mean. Wouldnt mind a burble or two but nothin loud, when I want it quiet its quiet, when I want it loud its louder. Was looking at that HKS Silent thingy, but is this stainless?

    Cheers

  11. As you may know, im new to all this, only picked the car up the other day.

I am curious about induction kits, all I seem to find are simple replacement filters like k&n and trd ones, the only induction kit I have found is the Protec one which is a very expensive £250, is it any good? Surely there are others available that are cheaper and maybe better?

What sort of performance gains too...?

    Cheers

  12. I got my clear trunk lights from www.procarparts.com. I paid 19 $US. They are not the best quality though. Came with a pair of red bulbs.

    trinilex....................... :mat:

cheers for that mate but i have been on there and been searching for ages, cannot find them, all i have found are these, standard replacement parts
