  1. I forgot the point about the A pillar

Also my rear view mirror vibrates - and I'm a petrol head

Does anyone else suffer the dripping water problem from the doors? I reckon in their pursuit of low drag, they forgot to check that the fit lines / shapes actually work from a human point of view.

Another thing I thought might influence peoples state of "grumpiness" - who has actually paid lump sum of their own money for this car? I drove company vehicles for many years, a friend of mine has recently "bought" an S type, but as a "company vehicle" via his own business, and many people are leasing etc. This is the first ( and probably the last ) time I have ever bought a brand new car, and a pricy one at that, and I can't help feeling that this makes me more likely to find fault with it.

The colour, although gorgeuos, is a pig to keep clean - one short trip in the rain, and the lower half of the car is filthy.

I was awake a lot last night worrying that I had done another rash thing in my life....I have done a few I am afraid

Yes I have to open the doors to drain them before I get into the car. This happens because I park on a slight slope. I wonder if rust will be a problem in a couple of years time?

  2. Having just completed 1300 odd miles, I am concerned to notice a number of stone chips on the bonnet (metallic paint). I had two Mercs before this car and never noticed so many chips appearing in so short a time. Is the paint coat thinner on the Lexus? Any suggestions?

  3. Just had my new IS250SE delivered for a week and found the ride just fine. Mind you I have tested the tyre pressures and they have been set at 32 psi all round when they should be 35 front and 38 rear. Now of course, having pumped up the tyres, the ride is firmer.

I wonder if Lexus have decided on lower pressures, or should I put up with the firmer ride? I have two air gauges to check the readings are correct. Your comments please.

  4. I purchased my first IS250SE in November, but this has just been replaced due to a write-off. I notice the ride in this one is far more comfortable - same spec as the first, but I notice the car is shod with Dunlop, not sure what the original tyres were. So tyres or tyres pressures??

Certainly I am very happy with this one, smoother over poor surfaces and no rattles anywhere.

  5. Damn, that's bad .... glad you are ok ?

Have you got any pictures of the car?

No, sorry. too dark and my camera phone is pathetic in such circumstances. Thankfully the police took all the photos. In answer to another question, all the other drivers were ok.

Note: More Than Insurance has proved very supportive so far.

  6. Thank you Lexus IS250 for saving our lives. This evening an on coming car lost control and hit our Lexus head-on, we were also hit by the car following him as we slewed across the road. The Lexus is a write off, but the only injury we received was bruising from the seat belts and my wife broke her hand. All the numerous air bags deployed and cushioned us from certain injury.

Wanted Lexus and Lexus drivers to know how grateful we were for such an excellent build and how safe this car is. Congrats to the Lexus Team!

Three cars involved, but everyone was ok, just bruised and shaken. Must tell you though, apart from the air bags, the Lexus crumple zone worked like a dream too.

  7. Black interiors look dreadful, really 1980s, especially under our often grey skies and dull conditions. Go for the beige and buy ( or persuade the salesman to throw in) a set of black proper Lexus carpet footmats. Keep the beige ones in the garage till the time comes to sell!

Yes I plan to do this, suppose they cost an arm and a leg? so may take up the rubber idea.

  8. Having just purchased an IS250 SE in Cadoxton Slate, with a light beige leather interior, I would suggest to anyone awaiting delivery that they should specify black rather than light colours for the removeable footwell carpets. Although I am pleased with both the exterior and interior colours, the beige carpets show the slightest mark and look grubby. I have had them treated to prevent staining, but they are the first thing you see when you open the door. I suppose it will look better in the summer, but a few months to go for that to arrive!

  9. Has anyone heard a rattling sound coming from the drivers' seatbelt pillar on their IS250 yet?

Yes, rattle from the seat belt mounting on the drivers side. I have discovered this is noisy when cold but generally fades away as the car and therefore the mounting warms up and expands. I have informed the dealer and will ask them to fix it once they have a solution (one that lasts). If they sort yours out sooner please let me know. I am running an IS250SE and very pleased with it.

  10. Hi again, after all that optimism, the squeak has returned!

At least we know what it is - the upper seat belt adjuster squeaks or rattles, especially when the car is cold - as soon as the car interior warms up it nearly disappears! Pushing in a bit of tissue helps, but as the adjuster is situated by your right ear, even the slightest noise in this quiet car is noticeable. I will wait until Lexus have had to deal with a few of these issues and then hopefully return the car for a fix.

Any suggestions other than tissue would be appreciated, looks like I am suffering from a bad cold!!

  11. look in the workshop section  for a topic about a squeaky seatbelt - it may well be the same prob u have

Well done that man, you have the answer! Move the seatbelt height adjuster down a couple of notches, now complete silence. Thanks, you have increased my enjoyment when driving the car enormously.

  12. Hi

Just taken delivery of my new IS250SE, most certainly the best purchase I have made for the price. Each day I fall in love with the car a little bit more (a first for me).

Just one irritant, I have a squeak somewhere around the drivers door. Sounds like two items rubbing together. The Dealer has sprayed some silicone over the area, but to no avail. It appears to start at any speed and only softens over really smooth services.

The car is as quiet as a mouse otherwise, so this 'squeak' is driving me mad! Has anyone come across this before and hopefully found a solution?

Comments and suggestions would be really appreciated.

  13. Hi Folks

I would suggest you go for the SE version and only add Sat Nav if you cover a large mileage - why? The SE will minimize your loss when it comes to a re-sale. The thrill you get from playing with your 'treats' soon passes and you still have £2500 saved towards the IS350 SE Sport AWD when it arrives? Only a guess so please do not press me on this.

  14. I would like to buy a new IS250.  Unfortunately the showrooms or stock areas don't have a good selection of colours available to view yet.  The only colours I have seen the new IS250 in are black, silver and green, and only with cloth upholstery or black leather.

Are the new paint colours similar to the GS range?

I was thinking of slate or dark blue.  Has anyone seen these colours yet in person or have some good pics?  (However, I find it's difficult to tell from the pictures.  For instance, the new green colour looks okay in pics, but I didn't like it when I saw it in the flesh!)

For interior colour, is it better to choose black or beige leather?

Which leather colour looks better over time?

    Thanks,

    Ro.

I have chosen Cadoxton Slate with Oakham Leather on my SE, looks really swish.

  15. Hi

Just picked up my IS250 today

What spec vehicle did you get?

SE with park assist added as an extra. I am retired so do not need all the 'treats' anyway the basic sound system is great, it drives like a good un too! Just a small stain on the metallic paint I cannot remove with polish, so they will have to look at that for me.
