  1. I have a similar problem, in that my engine + VSC light sometimes come on, but maybe after a couple of journeys to work and back, approx 40 miles ( 4 x 10, 2 there and 2 back) they lights go out again, with no percieved difference in the way the car drives.

I phoned my dealer and described the issue, but I am reluctant to take the car in whilst the lights are off and spend a fortune for them to attempt to diagnose the problem.

I'm kind of hoping what ever the cause is is going to get worst (at lteast to the point where the lights remain on long enough for me to get to the dealers...)

  2. Took the 350 in for 40000 service today and the "swines" :whistling: at Bracknell gave me a new 450h to tool about in.

First impressions is that it is a serious peice of kit. Quiet, economical (34.5mpg today), very comfy. Lots of nice new stuff like DAB radio, HDD music, USb slot etc. Also 3d satnav, keyless entry and chilled seats.

Bad points - only that it ias only 2 parking sensors on front - will need to get two more added for peace of mind and, that I'll have to buy one now!!

And out of interest, how much was the service, my RX350 is due it's 40000 + 1st MOT at the begining of September (or however early I can get the MOT done)

Hope I get a 450 to drive around in too...

  3. I just got the 2008-2009 E11 version of the Nav discs and it's so good for "my passenger" to be able to program whilst I am driving along, it's worth it for that alone!

I'd been thinking about getting this for a bit, and finally decided if i was going to splash the cash I might as well do it before my ski trip to the Alps (shame the GBP:EURO rate is so bad at the moment) but it was delivered very quickly.

  4. Hi all,

My front passenger side scuff plate is no longer illuminating on my RX350 SE :( I assume it's just the bulb that has gone. I've just had a quick read through the owners manual, but no mention of changing interior bulbs (just the exterior ones)

So, is this something i could do myself? Does anyone have any info on how to get to the bulb and what bulb is needed? Or should i simply go along to my dealer and get them to do it?

    Thanks in advance, Nic

  5. Can anyone help?

Used to have the IS250, so I came up with this brilliant idea of having an ipod with all my tunes on it in the car as it had the Aux input, now I have the RX400h, I no longer have the Aux input, any mods you know of where this can easily be resolved?

    hi!

    you have 3 options.

nbr. 1 is the IPod Integration Kit from lexus europe, part nbr. PZ420-00263-ME, price around 300,-EUR

nbr. 2 is soundlink from vaistech (www.vaistech.com), sells for about 300,-USD, must be self imported from US

nbr.3 is Dice iPod integration kit Dice kit, sells for about 150,-USD, self import.

lexus integration kit and soundlink adapters are working fine, dice users have reported some troubles but latest versions should work fine.

    regards

    willi

Or you could just get an iPod FM trasmitter thingy, which are now legal in the UK

  6. Lexus Hedge end fitted a Detachable towbar to my Mk 2 RX 300 for £650, a good quality bar too.

I too get about 18 mpg towing compared with 22 mpg solo. It does much better on longer runs at steady speeds of course.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but what is the difference between the Mk2 RX300 and the RX350 (apart form the engine obviously)

I dont understand the price difference in the towbar quote

  7. I think at the end of the day, Lexus should unlock the controls and it is down to the common sense of the individual to decide what they want to do no Lexus. Otherwise we could argue that Lexus should limit their cars to 70mph, so we can not break the speed limit. LOL

Limiting to 70 won't help, you'd still be able to break the lower speed limit, they'd have to implement a GPS based speed limiter, so they knew the speed of the road from the satnav position :)

ps. i agree, the common sense option would definitely be best

  8. Interesting thread, this happened to me yesterday evening, my wife and i were about to go out around 7pm, and th lexus wouldn't open :(

Anyway i could be dealing with it then, so we jumped in her clio and enjoyed our evening out.

This morning the car could still not be opened (it was parked outside my house, where it has function fine for the last 12 months) I phoned the RAC, they came 2 hours later, opened the car with the emergency key, started the car by waving it near the start button (maybe i should of read the manual) and told me to go to the dealer and get it checked out.

I got to the dealer (Lexus Hedge End) and everything was working fine :( I was told about interference and told to see how it goes over the next few days.

Got home parked outside my house and couldn't lock the car :(

I hope these mysterious radio waves disappear soon, as i dont fancy having to park the car down the next street and walk to it every morning. Just so that i can open/close it correctly.

  9. I only got my car at the begining of March and last weekend whilst washing it, i noticed all 4 of my value caps have gone missing, some how i dont think they just came loose and fell off :tsktsk:

The Halfords ones posted by Jamboo look like a good alternative, i'm not going to pay lexus for some new ones only for the litle brats round here to come and nick them again....

    Nic

  10. Well my new Lex lasted 13 days before someone has managed to drive into whilst parking and then bugger off, the rear bumper and passenger side rear wheel arch now have a nice scrape along them :crying:

It makes me feel like going out and buying a £200 banger, just so i can drive into people without giving a :tsktsk:

  11. I have the standard CD player (not MM) and i've been playing MP3 CD's, which work great, but every time i turn the ignition off and on again, i have to hit the 'TEXT' button to get back round to displaying the track title from the IDv3 tags.

It always seems to default to showing disc/folder/file information, is there any way you can default it to display the IDv3 track titles without having to press the 'TEXT' button all the time?
