Hi not sure where to post this (sorry if it is in the wrong place)
I have not been on the forum for a while due to ill health
Anyway I am just after a bit of advice and any help.
I purchased my Lexus new July 07 for cash. Not long after
I went into hospital for an operation. And now for the foreseeable future
I will not be driving. Before I ring the dealer to ask if he is interested
in buying it(knowing my luck he will not) anyhow let's say he is not interested
apart from my local paper. Do you lads and lasses know of anywhere
else I could try I suppose not many people at this time of the year
Have 25,000 plus to spend.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated :winky:

I lived next door to a guy whose car said, very loudly, "System Armed," and "System Disarmed" every time he locked and unlocked the car. Luckily he didn't stay there very long.
Now that would be so annoying. I remember in my youth a rich kid got a new BMW at the age of 18 at college and his car would tell people they were to close and to step away :shutit:
LOL! I have seen and heard those kind of alarms. And they always have an American accent - "Please step away from the car!" Sometimes it's fun to get close to the vehicle just to set it off! :P :D
:D :D :D

Picked up my IS250 SE with MM…. (after 14 days waiting for the DVLA :tsktsk: ) to transferring my plate
I will get some pictures of later :winky:
One quick question…….. when you put it into reverse are the door mirrors supposed to dip
Thanks
On the door panel there is a switch (its nearest the front) that you can select left or right or central. Left or right selected will then dip that mirror when reverse is selected. Hope that helps, and best of luck with your new toy/ car.
I thought so left or right on the switch......... I have tried that just and they still won't dip

Or I could suggest an SC430?
Not if he has concerns about fuel economy!
Can of worms indeed...but it is an owners club, so everything goes!!
If he is after a company car (?), or low emmissions, then the Lexus makes sense. Especially if the Euro5 thingamee means that he would be much better off from later this year?...he would need to verify that with the TAX office.
If on the other hand it's a personal/private car purchase, then it's not so clear!!
Put it this way, I have had a long hard look at the new C Class, and I have to say I thought it was superb on the road, bigger inside than an IS and almost VAG standards of fit and finish. It's expensive but I think on balance it's worth it (assuming it is reliable and the dealers pull the finger out). It's supposed to be the most "tested" Merc ever, and I've got to say, I thought it showed...I've considered chopping my 220d in for one, but I'm not sure about the dealers, who seem pretty naff, and now resting on the laurels of this new model (when will they learn)...
You need Auto (not many buy a Manual Merc...), COMAND, and Parktronic, all in all about £4k on any list price (Elegance comes with artificial leather which is not a bad imitation, and you dn't need to specify leather), and I reckon in the next 2-4 years it is bound to hold it's value better than the Lexus which will have been around for 2 years in November already.
If it has to be a privately purchased Lexus IS, then for sure - IS250 SE or SE/L but really an AUTO.
Hope that helps...
PS - if he can wait, he really should wait until the New A4 is launched....
I agree with Jamboo
I to looked at the new C class (a lovely car) 99% sure I would buy.........BUT
decided to go for IS250 SE/MM....why... because to get the same equipment
in a Mercedes C class would have cost a lot more money
PS: dealer phoned this morning and possibly picking it up this evening( I do hope so..... it's my birthday today )

Been in touch with DVLA.. Application received on the 27th
takes up to 10 working days to transfer
-
It's probably too late, as the paperwork will be in. However, I too have had the odd skirmish with a dealer (not Lexus) blaming the DVLA - ti's obvious that they have probably forgotten to do it.
Normally, the dealers employee a courier who specialises in visiting the local DVLA offices (which are now not so local) to get the paperwork done. I believe it may have changed and Cherished transfers have to be done by post. That's what my Nissan dealer said when we bought the 2nd car. Lex was no problem at all 6 months prior to the Nissan.
Good luck - best to call the DVLA yourself and see if you're being told something inaccurate!!
transfers of cherished reg`s from the original vehicle have to be done by post, last time, (november 06) it took me around 6 weeks !!, in the mean time i couldnt sell the vehicle nor pick up the new one until the paperwork arrived
:tsktsk: :crybaby: :shutit:

Thanks for the replies :winky:
I paid a deposit.. and we discoursed a delivery date of the second of July 07
the car is at the dealers…. but they are now blaming the DVLA. saying there is a backlog as regards to my private plate
I have purchased five cars(new) over the years and have never had a problem transferring my plate.. which I have owned for 10 years
-
What’s the law as regards to getting your deposit back?
I would be very grateful if someone could explain it to me
Thank you
