  1. Just bought one of those chips which increase your BHP by 20. It's saying to locate the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor and disconnect it etc. Where the hell is that sensor. Could anybody send me a photo of where it is. Has anybody done this before and if so does it work? Let me know please?

  2. im having screen problems. think its the ribbon cable that is damaged but no idea how to get hold of the cable, ive been meaning to take the unit apart for a few weeks now but really cant be arsed :hehe:

I remember seeing that you had the same problem as me with the screen going blue then just going blank. I tried everything that everybody suggested but couldn't get a hold of the ribbon cable so I am now thinking about replacing the screen itself within the housing unit and get rid of the ribbon cable that's there altogether. I think someone has done this as this rings a bell. I'm just fed up saying to people 'My car's got satnav as well but the screen's f******'

  3. Had enough of my satnav screen. I would hope to replace this screen within the housing unit for something more easily available. Has anyone done this? If so could you give me a few pointers as I suspect this might be something a lot of people might be needing. I also hope to set up a switch to give the screen a dual purpose of Satnav/TV and DVD. Is this feasable?

  4. Hi all - as a follow up to my problem of remote locking on my IS200 failing after a flat car battery...

I contacted my nearest Lexus dealer today... they advised that the keys shouldn't haved failed after a flat car battery - but couldn't be sure, they said it sounded like they needed to be re-programmed to fix and I would need to bring the car in.

The dealer I spoke to said there would be a charge of £68+vat for the re-coding - which I obviously didn't like the sound of.

Taking advice from LOC, I then contacted my second nearest Lexus dealer who said they would re-code the keys for free as it would take minutes to do. So did that and everything's now fixed and best bit is it didn't cost a penny. (and I even got a free coffee in the posh lexus showroom :)

Hi im new to the forums but have been working on lexus since 1989 when they were inroduced to ireland

to code a IS200 remote key

    1 Drivers door open

2 insert Key in to ignition -remove

3 using the central locking switch on the drivers door LOCK to UNLOCK 5 times ie forward/back counts as one

    4 close/open door

5 lock to unlock another 5 times

6 insert key in to ignition

7 off to on to off .. once to add a key .. twice to rewirte.. remove key

8 after this the door locks will respond

9 while this is happening hold down the lock button on the key and press the unlock button on the key 5 times .. release and press unlock once

if you have been successful the door lock will lock unlock once

it can be tricky to do its all in the timing of doing all the stages

    Best of Luck

Just did this sequence and it worked absolutely spot on. I have the full lexus manual and the sequence they gave was different from that and it didn't work but yours was spot on. One wee tiny problem was as you know what i'm talking about, but when i turned the key in the ignition five times to tell me how many keys were coded in the system it came back none (ie locked and unlocked five times) when these keys were already programmed in. Anyway got my first key logged in now but i want to programme the master key in. Is it the exact same process or do i use the programmed key to start the sequence and finish with the other key? Does this make sense?

  5. Looking for help again. My satnav screen keeps flickering. When it flickers it changes colour as well and when I tilt the screen down to the last setting the screen blacks out but comes back on again when I tilt it back to fully open. Any whizz kids give me a step for a hint as to whether it's a loose connection or the screen is on it's way out. Thanks in advance as somebody always has the answer on this site.

  6. Just cover all bases. Another possible location for your speedo might be on the wheel bearing at the back wheels in which the ABS sensor picks up the rotation of the wheel. Don't know if that's the case with Lexus as it was the case in my last car and nobody knew it except for the dealer. Probably wrong but it's another option.

  7. i can help,,, with a loom and sat nav bypass details...

    have a look here

Got your reply last night. Downloaded your video and manual. I even understand it clearly and that's some feat. I found out though that the previous owner has, in all their wisdom, removed the stock amplifier as well. Well done to them, but you have given me a project to get my teeth into. Just another quick question though (I may sound really thick when I ask this) but my satnav, very recently, is requesting the map CD upon opening. I take it this is done through the CD player, therefore, I will have to get the whole system up and running before I can sort this? Apologies for being stupid but I have no literature for the satnav.

  8. you bought a car with no headunit in, you do realise that the nav wont work without the headunit

there is no ISO connector for the sport and SE models as they have a seperate amp

The nav is working but there is no sound.

thats correct it needs to go through the headunit/ amp

Any suggestions? The car did appear to have been set up previously with an ISO connector but they took it with them. My plan is to identify the wiring on the existing plugs and convert it. Would anybody have the colour coding for the Lexus audio plugs?

  9. New to this site. Need somebody's help because Lexus aren't very helpful. Just bought an IS200SE. '99 V reg model no 33199. There was no sounds in it at all, so I bought a CD player with ISO connector. The problem is nobody has an audio connector to convert the existing plugs to ISO and when i tell them there is SATNAV in the car they look horrified or do that sucking noise saying "it's gauna cost you". I'm at my wits end. Can anybody tell me if this audio connector exists or tell me the colour coding for the wiring which is there in the car?
