Jesus - cant you import one?
No, I would have to pay the taxes to get a license plate on the car and I am not allowed as a danish citizen to drive in a car with foreign license plates in Denmark. :(
-
I'm well chuffed. It's a Feb '09 in Arctic Pearl Metallic. It has 9700 miles on it and I got it for £38,950 which I think was a very good price. They threw in free gap insurance as well.
What a car. After four M3's, this is a bit of a departure for me. It was like driving a Playstation. When you open the throttle, the V8 absolutely roars. Amazing!
I pick it up Saturday morning and I can't bloody wait!!
DAMN, I envy you guys, the car taxes in Denmark makes cars like this completely out of reach for a normal employee (chemical engineer in my case). £38,950 I can almost pull directly out of my pockets BUT I checked the used car market and found only 1 used IS-F for sale in Denmark. Apr '08, 20000 miles and the price tag is £133,750 .... :shutit: But of course a lot cheaper than the price of a new IS-F £182,500

Are you serious? I shudder to think how much a Veyron costs?
How much do people in Denmark earn to be able to pay that much for their cars?
I have no idea how much the Veyron costs. But I can find the price for a 911 Turbo: £306K
I would gues the lady working the cash register in the supermarket earns £1200 after taxes (that is the minimum wage in Denmark) and a newly graduated master of science chemical engineer would get £1600 after taxes. But we have a very progressive tax system so I am paying ~70% tax on every extra £ I am getting extra now and I am only a chemical engineer with 9 years of experience but still I am in the high income tax range. :(
-
Well, the car has been officially priced in Denmark now.
Hold on everybody the price for the IS-F standard is: £152K
I think I have to settle for the IS250 Aut. Sport MM which is "only" £77K :shutit:
I just love the danish 180% tax on cars + 25% normal consumers tax. :tsktsk:

I have the same problem on mine but I don't know if it is normal when the auto choke is on. Can't remember if it was like that to begin with.
Would like to know if you/they find a problem with the car.
-
I have never noticed this but I would say it sounds normal from a logical point of view. When the car is cold there is less lubrication in the engine and thereby higher friction making the pistons or whatever slow down faster. Sorry, I am not a mechanic but I was just thinking out loud

My HU has top loaded CD unit and I have Nokia CK-7W. Mutes fine and sound comes from speakers but I didn't install myself.

Any chance Dr Bones has a brother or cousin with same skills around Denmark?
-
Switching the traction control off does not change the behaviour of the light. I switched mine off when we had a lot of snow in Copenhagen just to see how hard it was to control the car in the snow The light was flashing all the time when I was going sideways down the streets early in the morning :P
-
Probably it is not possible to drive it :)
-
Well, how did he find 5 doors? :duh:

Does anybody have any experience with a motor heater in the IS200? This is my first winter with the car and I would like the comfort of just getting into a heated car in the morning - should also be better for the engine.
I was looking at a Webasto heater but I don't know if it is possible to fit easily in the Lexus and if it is any good.
-
Could also be a neighbour in Japan - Honda S2000 ? :)

A lot of pictures have been released from Detroit Auto Show, it was revealed 3 days ago (on January 8).

And there are some specs here:

Hi
You should rev it all the way in all gears. The IS200 has a maximum power output at 6200 rpm.
TRC on/off? If you are an experienced driver you could switch if off but be aware the limit for loosing the tail is very sharp. Maybe you should go to a track day and practice before you turn it off on the road wouldn't look nice with a Lexus crumpled around the lamp post in your town
I lost the tail in mine on a frosty morning with the TRC on and there was absolutely no warning whatsoever but at that time I only had the car for 1 week.
-
Well, it is official the IS-F is being shown at Detroit Auto Show in 2 weeks from now (see link below). Will be interesting to see the pictures they release.

I have been fighting the same problem in my IS200. This is my first autumn/winter in the car and it took me some time to figure out.
Summer setting: I use Auto position, 20.5C, fresh air and Auto speed.
Winter setting: I use Def/face position, 21-21.5C, fresh air and 2-3 on speed (depending on humidity). When I start out in the morning I use only Def (aircon turns on automatically) and when the car has heated up I change back to Def/face.
It sorted out most of my problems but still the windows mist when it is very humid. I could maybe try to set the temperature to max I would just hate the hassle of stripping every time I had to get into the car :P
PS. My pollen filter is completely new and yes, it does take fresh air in (tested it when I sprayed AC cleaner in the inlet)

They put Shell Helix 5W-30 in mine.

on the topic of services, mines having its full service this week and i said i mite provide my own oil. does anyone know how many litres i need?
I don't know exactly how many litres you need, but I just paid for 4.2 litres on my 60000km service.
I have an IS300 service manual from the internet. It says:
5.1 liters w/o oil filter change
5.4 liters w filter change
6.5 liters dry fill
But maybe there is a difference between 200 and 300?

I envy you guys in UK (and other countries) that can afford a Lexus at the age of 24. Here in DK the prices on cars are extremely high due to a 180% tax. Got my IS200 at the beginning of this year - 4 years old with 33k miles on the clock - price tag £28000.
Now I am enjoying the car and saving for the new IS250 but the price tag is just too high for a "normal" working engineer like me. IS250 auto without any packages is £54000 but I want the MM package since you guys say it is so nice but in order to get that I need to buy a comfort package or sports package first so the price tag on an auto + sports + MM ends up at £69000 :duh: I think I have to save money for 20 years ;)
No I can not buy a car in say Germany and bring to DK. I need danish license plates and to get that I have to pay the 180% tax

Is this some kind of joke? I believe it is the indicator lights you are referring to?

Found this one when searching the net. Look also at related article 2009 Lexus IS Convertible B)

So what does the snow button do in my manual geared IS200?
I never used the button but I also managed to lose the tail on an icy morning when turning on a road that leaned outwards - throttle disengaged automatically and I managed to catch it with opposite lock. B)
I wonder if the snow button would have kept the tail in? I can test it again this winter with the button pushed :P

Hi there
Had my 2002 is200 for about 2 months now and I keep getting complaints from rear-seat passengers about excessive wind noise from the rear window especially above 100 kph. I can actually hear it if I turn my head towards the drivers window in the drivers seat (left-hand drive). The noise seems to be coming from the top of the bar separating the 2 windows in the rear door. There is no draught - just noise.
Anybody else experienced something like that?
Thx for a great forum

It is a general tax on all cars and it has been like that forever. The tax is 180% and then 25% consumers tax which is on all things you buy. I heard a rumour that the Veyron is something like £3,150,000. At the moment electric cars are tax-free but that is probably going to change as soon as the government sees the money opportunity.
