By the way Scarface, welcome back to the land of the free....

    Hi Jamboo

I have an IS220d MM and to date have not been able to play an MP3 or WMA file. I burn with Nero 7.

I also want to back up my DVD titles before bringing them to the car but cant play copied DVD's on the car system - not sure why.

Any advice would be gratefully received

    Cheers

    Pat

  2. You could try applying an oil based paint PC99 - that will put them off touching them or else take a leaf out of South African car security and run a current through each wheel when it's parked up.

    :tsktsk: :tsktsk: :tsktsk:

If I had a gun I would shot those little buggers. All 4 of the air valve caps have been take. I know or I think I know who has done it and I can guarentee that when I go and check his BMX, hey presto he will have two shiny air valve caps!!!

Anyone know where I can get more and also a secure method of keeping them on!!!!

I was thinking of emailing Lexus to see if they could help.

    Any ideas people??

    Cheers

  3. I have the IS 220d Sport - collected it about two weeks ago. I tend to keep it in 5th until around 75-80 mph then change up.

You can make use of this gear a lot earlier than the regular 220d I've stayed in 6th at about 60mph but responsivness obviously sufferers slightly.

At present I get about 33mpg combined.

As regards the gearbox, 1st gear is a waste of time and it generally works best if you commence in 2nd.

I have a couple of queries which regards to the IS220d Sport compared to standard IS220d:-

The final drive ratio of the standard is 2.47 but the sport is 3.20. I know this has something to do with the gearing but what difference will that mean in reality? I know 6th gear is very long on the standard and can't be used below 70mph, does this mean you could use 6th earlier in the Sport?

Also how come the mpg is different, is this down to the gearing? Its quite alot different aswell, about 5 mpg on the combined cycle...

Hope someone can clear these up for me.

    Cheers,

The gearing change should mean that the sport accelerates quicker, 6th becomes more usable but unfortunately the engine will be revving higher for any given speed so the fuel economy will suffer...unless of course if you can use 6th more often where it may balance out a bit as for the non-sport guys 6th is virtually unusable.

  4. Absolutely will do!!

The car has less than only 500 miles on the ODO in total from new, so this is quite simply stunning...it's on a par with any other diesel I've "run in", so I'm impressed!

That journey is a regular one for me, so I know the roads like the back of my hand. I was careful not to labour the car, and though I am wary of running in, I was driving it as normal 95% of the time.

It's just plain naff in town! Anything over 30MPG in solid town driving and you're doing brill...

5th at 70 = 2100rpm, about the same as my old 5 speed A4. 6th is just plain useless unless you want to get nicked! I suppose it'll feel better in 6th when it's all loosened up...

    Jamboo

You'll have to teach me to drive. I have just filled up for the first time since I got the car on Friday.

I am averaging between 30 - 37 depending on if I've been in town or on the motorway.

I'm hoping that my initial excitement of getting the car wears off soon, so that I can drive more economically.

I'm driving the IS 220d Sport - not sure if there are many owners of that model yet who can advise of their performance results yet?

  5. Hows it going guys

What do you think of the Granite gray IS 250 Sport??

    Matty,

ain't seen a Sport in that colour, but Leicester Lexus still have an SE in that colour in the showroom (Cadoxton Slate in England rather than Graphite).

It looks the bizz! Very dark, but not sure how often you'll have to clean it! One good wash a week I think to keep it smart!!

I'm having my !S 220d Sport with mm delivered this Friday (31.03.06) can't wait! That's been ordered in Cadoxton Slate - this is a good colour and looks good with the dirt too. :D

  6. Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone might know a way to override the sat nav so that a passenger could load a destination whilst the car is on the move

In the demonstrator the system disabled itself whilst the car was in motion.

I take delivery of my IS 220d Sport tomorrow and it would be good to have the override option.

    Thanks

    Pat
