  1. Ive got a 99 IS200, and how can I describe the brakes - they seem very soft, I was moving my girlfriends clio this morning and her brakes are razor sharp, so much so that if you tap em your eyeballs almost come out - does this sound like the normal '200 brakes? Or could mine do with being looked at by the garage?

Also I noticed the rear discs looked pretty corroded, except for a small silver line where the pad was obviously making contact when pressed, could this be part of the problem, or just cosmetic?

  2. If something is "too good to be true", often it is. Meaning that it might not fit properly, might be of inferior quality etc. The point here is the guy has been ripped off - nothing to do with the quality of the product - it would make no difference if he had spent £300 or £3000 - if you get ripped off, you get ripped off!

  3. Not a specific reply to your problem, but on my old car I bought some alloys which rubbed a tiny bit, easiest option was some 3mm spacers which cost about £5 - did the trick perfectly. For such a small offset, you can use spacer plates no problem at all.

  4. End of the day you bought a lexus if you wanted to skrimp and save then you should have bought a KIA or PROTON. I dont understand why people do this.

Its like buying a Rolex watch but then you go to the local pawnshop to have it serviced because you tried to save a few quid. Does that make sense?

Sorry, but that is complete bollocks. The guy has been ripped off - you seem to be suggesting that because he tried to save a few quid its his own fault for getting ripped off. Thats akin to saying if you don't take your car to lexus and pay £50+ an hour labour you shouldn't expect your car to be serviced properly. Utter nonsense at the best of times, and certainly not what he would want to hear just now.

  5. Yeah thanks for the PM Arron, those masks look pretty nice, trying to find some pics of them fitted on a darker IS though :)

With regards to the Sports Grille, Im gonna order tomorrow - Tango said my paint code was 1-GO, but as far as I can see my colour is green and the code should be 6Q7, can anyone clarify? Cheers!

  6. Hi, I should be picking up my IS200 se this week at some point, can't wait! Its a dark green colour, not sure what the colour is called though...

Anyway, Id like to do a few exterior mods to start (power mods come later after I move house!)...

    1) Id like to change the rear lights... what options do I have? Id prefer something a bit more subtle, as every bloody corsa and saxo near where I live has similar lights! Pics of options would be cool...

    2) Ive seen a few different front grilles, my favourite just having a small black TRD logo. What style is this? Also what is the sports grille? Ive used the search, but everyone already seems to know what they are talking about, so its not too much use!

    3) Where can I find some pics of different sized / style alloys? And are there any problems fitting 18"s ? My mr2 was pretty much limited to 17" wheels, otherwise it would tramline like hell....

And most importantly, how much and where from for 1) and 2)

    Cheers :)

ps. The search limit rate is so bloody annoying :D

  7. Go for the Altezza, it has the same 3S-GE as the MR2 and you can always fit a Greddy TD06 for extra grunt!

    Wrong.

Care to enlighten us? "wrong" is fairly meaningless as a one word response

The MR2 Turbo has the 3s-GTE engine (the T being Turbo), whereas the NA MR2 has the 3S-GE engine (the Mark 2 mr2 I'm referring to).

  8. I was thinking of buying an IS200 (se or sport), but then I saw that the Altezza had a more powerful engine. What exactly are the differences (i.e. engine/ trim / mpg etc)? Ideally im after something comfortable, but Im coming from driving a 270bhp Mr2 Turbo, so I still have a slight hankering for more power!

    Cheers :)
