Having being a new lexus ls400 mk1 owner i will never drive anything else again!
Its a lovely car (as you all know) and i can handle the petrol drinking at the moment, ive had a quote for a lpg conversion (£1899 plus vat).
I posted a couple of times about problems with the speedo needle, dodgy tappet etc etc and the company i bought the car from have been great.
After driving it for a few weeks i noticed all the little problems:
Dark speedo needle
Lazy fuel guage
knocking on full lock (steering)
Whinning when turning
Noisy tappet
I took it back and its still at the garage being sorted but they are sorting everything (at no cost to me)
Ive taken out an extended warranty (£195) and this is parts and labour for another 12 months so if there is a problem it will be sorted again.
I cant wait to get it back, iam currently driving around in my companys 3.5t van which is a mode of transport for now but cant wait to get my lexus back.
all is good

Sorry to bombard the post board but i was thinking on my way home from the office, i read in the handbook about the over drive and the other button by the gearshift.
Is there any clever person out there who can explain these two buttons in laymens terms?
what are they supposed to do?
ARRRGH too many buttons

hey hey
still loving the lexus experience!
the clock needle problem is soon to be sorted, thanks for the help everyone.
my next thing (suppose its what i get for buying a used car), the engine is knocking a bit (sounds like a tappet is out of sync), i called my mechanic who proceeded to tell me that you dont tune a ls400 its pneumaticly controlled and it will sort itself..... iam confused, iam no mechanic but it all sounds a bit iffy
Any one have any ideas? its a smooth as silk but its annoying me
thanks

Hey,
Thanks for the replys, i diddnt know it would be that much, but i did get a good deal, 1993 ls 400 full service history, lexus stamped every year everything works and its immaculate, the only faults ive found are the speedo needle being really dim on one end and the stereo makes weird noises sometimes (stereo is no probs).
ill investigate further and let you know what happens.
ps i paid £2800 for the car!
bargain i thought

Hey peeps,
this is my first post as i picked up my black ls400 this morning!!!!
iam aware from reading a few posts about problems which sometimes arise but the speedo needle is really dim on the end which i need most so its quite hard to see how fast iam going.
Iam not technical enough to whip out the unit and solder stuff so just wondering what sort of cost is involved in getting is sorted.
many thanks
Ps iam based in Rainham, Kent
Thanks again
Mark
