  1. Hey there,

Sorry to hear about your accident... I hope you get it sorted soon!

The glass can be had from Lexus. Dependant upon the model (S, SE or Sport) they may be tinted. This isn't just a film over the windows, but the glass itself is tinted. Not sure about costing, sorry.

With regards to the rear lights, I saw a pair up (individually) on eBay the other day, so I'd check there.

If you're after the smoked rear lamps though, they too can be had from Lexus. Check the following post for further information:

    All the best,

    Jamie

    Thanks for the reply Jamie.

I will check out Lexus, but i got told that i couldnt just buy the glass by itself i would have to buy the whole light?? Is that correct.

Has anybody got a spare rear light for sale?

  2. I've managed to reverse my Lex into a lampost or should i say someone deceided to move a lampost while i was reversing.

Anyway i've broken the glass around the passenger back-side light.

A few questions, if you can help it will be appreciated

    • can i purchase just the glass and if so where from
    • anyone selling or can you point me out in the direction where i can purchase just one back light
    • i've got a silver lex is200 and ive seen the fancy smoked ones they look cool where the best place to buy or should i say the cheapest and which ones are the best

    As always, appreciate your help!!

  3. Ok heres what happened, i went to take out one of the CDs from the CD changer and after a lot of clickin and the usual noise from the CD changer i cud hear the noise when ithe CD is supposed 2 come out but it never did! now the CD changer is sayin that its empty even though i know theres a CD in it!!! has this happened to anyone before does anyone have an idea how to fix it?

if you cant fix it i have a perfect 6cd changer/head unit for sale, you can call me on 086 8149842

im intrested in your unit, can u tell me is it a top or bottom loading unit?

  4. what fuel do you use? do you ever use fuel system cleaners?

i use BP Ultimate and every 3-6 months run through a system cleaner STP injector cleaner or Forte...normally improves my mpg a bit but i have never had as bad mpg as you. STP is about £5 @ Halfords, Forte i can only get from a garage (repair garage) £8-£10.

I use standard Unleaded Shell petrol religiously, never used a system cleaner, worth a try as i would really like more mpg. The car recently (3 months) had a service from Lexus. What type of milliage should i get around town on a full tank?

  5. I need to improve my MPG and i've searched the forum and have learnt that if reset the ecu it will help my petrol consumption.

I've tried to search on how to reset the ecu, but with no luck.

Appreciate if someone can show me how to reset the ecu or point me in the right direction.

    Thank you

You woun't definitly get better MPG. What this does is let the car learn how you drive rather then the previous owner and it will set itself up to suit. If you drive harder then the last guy you will probably get worse MPG. Still worth doing though.

What else can i do in order to improove my petrol consumption?

At the moment i'm only getting 270 miles for a full tank and i'm not even driving hard.

    All help appreciated.

  7. Just booked my Lexus is200 for a service at the new Lexus Centre in Fort Dunlop, Birmingham. It's coming upto to 90 on the clock and i've been told it does not need a cam belt change but the next sevice at 100k i will. I'm paying £183 for the service while ive ben told 100 service will cost near enough £600 (cam belt change)

As this is the first time i'm taken my lex for a service i thought dealers would be good (stamp in the book and they know what there doing - they best do) and espicially as i dont know where else to take it. Any recomendations??

I'm not an expert in cars at all, i stick the key in, put on my playstation load my music dvds get iced up and drive. Can anyone tell me what questions i need to ask when they are servicing my lex and has anyone been to the new Lexus Centre in Fort Dunlop, Birmingham? Are they any good?? Should i take it Sutton Coldfield instead?? If i become a Gold Member how much will i save money from my service??

Loads of questions your help is required and will be appreciated.

  9. I just got the Connects2 iConnect FM adaptor:

    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_in...roducts_id=4840

(or some on ebay now and again).

Same sort of thing as the Dension Ice-Link FM but cheaper and comes with an ipod dock cable instead of a cradle. The adaptor connects direct inline to the aerial on your stereo so it is not a transmitter, but you still tune the stereo to a certain frequency to get the sound. Plus it charges the ipod.

I had it fitted by Lexus and the cable hidden under the centre console and coming out in the front cup-holder. Therefore a totally hidden install with the ipod sitting very nicely in the cupholder. Cost £51.70 fitting which I did not think was too bad (did not fancy dismantling my own dash to fit myself).

Sound quality, although not as good as CD or probably something like the prolex aux-in, is more than acceptable and I have had no interference problems.

How much do you want for the Connects2 iConnect FM adaptor? Is straight forward to install? Can i run the cable to the glove box and keep the ipod there?

  10. I used to use the fm transmitter thingy. Works quite well but you can lose the signal.

I then swapped to the cassette adapter, which works excellently..

I've got both of these laying around somewhere if you want either one?

In the end I installed an after market headunit with Ipod adapter.. Details etc are Here

Definately intrested in the cassete adapter, have you got a pic of what it looks like and is it as simple as insert the cassete and hey presto ipod connected? sorry for being a bit thick but i get a bit dazzled when it comes to these things.

  11. The UK lexus head unit is a direct swap for the Jap unit - but you have to make sure you have the correct version for your car.

As has been mentioned, you need to find out if you have an amp or not in the Tezza. It's behind the glove box, fitted to the left hand side wall of the car. Its silver aluminium, with cooling fins - dead easy to spot.

If you have an amp, you need a stereo from either an SE or Sport model. If no amp, the head unit has to come from an S model.

There are also 2 versions of the stereo - there was a face lift in 2001, and the stereo was changed. The position of the CD loading slot was moved from the bottom to the top (or maybe the other way round - can't remember exactly). Anyway - you need to make sure the head unit you buy has the same location of the slot (ie from a pre 2001 car).

There are plenty on ebay all the time - they go for about 150 to 200. Make sure they don't have the Err 3 error - it's a costly repair.

    Hope this helps

I've got a IS200 top loading headunit from a 2001 Y reg, i bought the unit as mine was showing the ERR3 problem but it wouldnt fit because my original unit was bottom loading. I should have checked but i bought it and now i'm stuck with it.

If you want it £200 and it's yours.

    PM if intrested.

  13. Can any1 help or point me in the right direction

I'm after Bottom Loading CD Head Unit, IS200 mats, Gear Knob & the casing which goes around the CD Unit.

I've got a IS200 Vreg 2000 and i need a Bottom Loading CD Head, my head uniy got the dreaded ERR3. i swapped my unit with a top loading unit and guess what the adapters on the back are different. If anyones intrested in the top loading unit let me know. The casing around the CD Player has been damaged, during me pulling out the faulty unit in frustration.

mats need to be black and ideally with screws to bolt down the mats, original prefrabley, used not a problem but in a good condition.

    Gear knob, original silver please.

    Thank you.

  14. Got the ERR3 problem withmy bottom loading CD HU from a IS 200 Vreg 2000, swapped my HU with a IS 200 Yreg 2001, a top loading CD HU

    Guess what

The power adapter is different in the back and does not fit.

Can anyone tell me why and how i can fix this problem, please i need sound, help a brother in need of sound.

From what i hear i may have problems and if i cant fix does anyone want to swap a Top Loading CD HU with a Bottom Loading CD HU?

Or do you wanna buy a Top Loading CD HU .

Please let me know, appreciate your help.

    Sunny

  15. Hi Vry1, new to LOC a big congratulations to vry1 in making this the best forum on the www

Recently bought a IS200 on a V Reg 2000 and soon after i had the ERR3. Read all the posts and i knew i had a major problem

I got very lucky as i was selling my IS200 alloys, the buyer was trading his IS200 YReg 2001 into the gararge. Being the cheeky chap that i am i asked if i could swap my CD unit with his and he agreed :)

We swapped the units over, but unfortunatly the power adapters in the back of the units did not fit. Neither of us ware to bothered, i had a got a new CD unit (Top Loading CD) and he did'nt care because the garage had ofered him less money and he would have one over them.

The problem i have now is how do i connect my new top loading CD Unit with the old wiring and power adapter? Can any1 help?

I've spoken to Lexus and they fobbed me off by saying i would have to swap all the internal wiring in order to get the new CD Unit to work, has any1 ever heard of that?

Really appreciate your help on this topic.

    Thank you
